A big Thank You to all the members who participated in this tour to make it such a great event, I hope you all enjoyed the route and hopefully these events can be repeated in the future 😎 WW write up to follow.... in the mean time a couple of my pics, the first is my favourite .. @W Shep asking some locals for directions 🤣

  6. Interesting - here’s what mine weighed with some fuel and would be a “420” in Caterham speak.

  7. Important announcement and a reminder for this event: FREE the fee is being reimbursed by the club. Do not worry about the weather, please arrive in any kind of car, it is not a drive out. This is a full guided factory tour 'How it's Made' style, showing all areas of a kit car manufacturer. Who is coming?

  8. Saw this today on the Bristol ring road. I think this definitely counts as a kit car, or a kit sidecar to be precise...😄

  9. A baby blue’ish Lamborghini with a Westy Eleven plt - reckon he must have part-ex his Westy 11 for this with cash his way & retained the plate.

  11. New sump required. Pretty sure engine is fine, though first restart will be a tad nerve racking I expect 😊

  12. Sorry to read it ended so early for you but at least you found a way to enjoy and the engine has lived to see another day!

  13. What an amazing trip, I've been following it on here, Facebook and Instagram every day, such amazing photos! I'm going to have to stick this in the diary for 2025 if I can find a brave passenger 😂

  15. Not got the car any more but it was decked out with a reasonable amount of carbon (aeroscreen, cycle wings, tunnel top, dash) and had other lighter items like wilwood calipers, 13” cxr wheels, grp seats, alloy bellhousing and a lithium battery. Would have been lighter without a cage though! Got a bit heavier with me it of course 🤣

  18. Hi there if it’s ok I’m going to meet you aswell in the morning and drive to far with you to see you off.

  19. Indeed. A mate has a “420” with a 210bhp Duratec and we were very evenly matched when it came to acceleration. So I suspect his was no lighter than mine in reality (both caged with aeroscreens)

  24. @AndrewBClarke perhaps the turnout wasn't as you'd hoped as it coincided with the TLWN. I would have joined you if the dates didn't clash

  28. Spotted your post on SELOC about the caterham. From what I’ve heard and from experience of our local lads that have had both, a Caterham “out of the box” is a fair bit better than the average Westy. But a well built and well setup westy can easily match or exceed it - for a lot less £££ Having researched the K series while on my original quest for an Elise, I think they are not as bad as they are made out to be, but you do need to be sure the head gasket is ok. But if you really want a Caterham this one is the kiddie. Been trying to chase it around the highlands - without much luck in the keeping up department 🤣 360bhp with a sequential box - utterly bonkers.

  29. I think this topic is non-westy-ist. So being a tad non PC here’s mine…

  32. My 2 favourite photo's We called in to Malham on the Saturday and walked to Malham Cove, the RSPB were there with their telescopes and we were able to view a male and a female Peregrin Falcon. I tapped them for a photo while we were there. This morning we drove past Bamburgh Castle after visiting Holy Island

  33. Fantastic day out in really good weather and beautiful scenery. I travelled down south to The Crown at Great Casterton where @si_salisburyhad already arrived on foot. Unfortunately his Westfield had developed a fault with its battery/charging so he was co-piloting for the day in my spare seat. After a hearty lunch, we set off on a figure of 8 trip which circumnavigated Rutland Water and ended up at the Hambleton Bakery for coffee and the obligatory cake. It was good to see Tim Baxter who joined us there from the Norfolk group in his red Westfield. After topping up with the delicious cakes, we went on our way. I dropped @si_salisbury off back in Great Casterton and travelled back via Stamford and Bourne home. Thanks @si_salisbury for coming. Was great to see you again. It would also have been lonely without you!! I must admit to being disappointed with the turn out - great location, an organised route, good food and a sunny weather forecast clearly isn’t enough to entice others out. ☹️ Two Westfields at Hambleton Bakery.

  38. Thank you @AndrewBClarke for the drive out, also for allowing me to be a passenger due to my battery deciding to give up and not take a charge🤦‍♂️. Due to the sound track of Andrew’s Westfield I did forget to take photos apart from this one. After a drive around, we made a planned stop at the Hambleton bakery for a nice coffee and cake, but unlike @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative I forgot to take a photo of them before we tucked into them. but here’s the proof we had cake. I think I need to take some pointers form you Julie. great day had, hopefully next time I will be in my Westfield as well 👍.

  39. Our plot will be overlooking Cascades, as in previous years. Hoping for a good turn out and good weather. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available.

  40. Hi its me again Could anyone from the Wirral group or otherwise, advise as to whether the club will be setting up our WSCC plot overlooking Cascades as in previous years. I'll know where to go then. See you all there MOT allowing. Luckily there's also the Cheshire club meets in-between times. S2RRR

  42. I am saddened to be reporting that Mathew Gilmour, owner of Procomp Motorsport, sadly passed away last week. He had been suffering with poor health for a while and eventually passed away as a result. For those that didnt know of Procomp, Matt and his late father Ivan, were renowned and respected Westfield and kit car in general preparation specialists. They helped me immensely with my Speed Series winning Westfield whilst I owned it. RIP Matt

  43. Our Westie managed 12 miles before trouble hit. 100 odd miles from home, scrambling around to sort car, dash home and hop into Ali’s Abarth. Drove straight back up and back on route. Great weekend despite the set back. Home now, grey washed out of hair and busy ordering new parts.
