As you may have read here- Peaky Pass Blatters Tour 2024 @Jim cunliffe @Si.Dalziel @Tim Coles & I are heading off on Thu 27th June. On previous trips, we've seen messages as we travel or even after from members wishing to join in along the way. So this year, feel free to join us for as much or as little of the UK route as you wish. We had the honour of the Queen of Cakes @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative & Glen seeing us off last year (and a soggy welcome home too!)- The current plan sees @Tim Coles and I meeting at Tagg Lane Dairy, in the peaks, leaving at 11am. @Jim cunliffe will be meeting up with @Si.Dalziel in Warrington and we then all meet at the Carding Shed in Holmefirth for lunch at about 12:15pm. We then leave the Carding Shed for Hull circa 1:30PM, aiming to arrive at the Fox and Coney in Hull circa 4:00PM. We'll be keeping off motorways and city centres, where we can ! The likely route from Tagg Lane Please drop me PM's should you wish to join in at any point. We'll have a whatsapp live location group to aid finding us etc, this will be communicated closer to the date to those joining in. You're welcome to dine with us at any of the venues too, however please indicate this up front to aid bookings etc.4 points

Commited heresy... finished instalation of Electric Power Steering in mine Track Aerorace Westfield. I know, I know... but, track I am time to time drivig has karting, veeery twisty (slow angled corners) part , mine wrists are not quite healthly (chronic so would be only worse) , and with hot sticky sliscks I use its hard. Also car has a short (2,2 or 2,4 rack, and short steering arms, that not helping in lighweight operation too) So i fight with car in this section rather than to be precise on perfect driving line . So far just tried this EPS on normal road around home , and.... looks to work really well ! Starting froms downsides - quite a lot of work - additional 8 kg located high and on weighted drivers side (maybe more than 8 kg due to size of bearing I have used but wanted to do it once for ever . And weight of brackets I have welded in chassis . Advantages : - normal drive - like normal car, so light as this is a light car so now it feeling suits it (on slow drive, not only on speeds as before) - what I hope for - more precise less exhausting and less hand-painfull drive on twist parts (and all parking / pitstop / trailer etc operations ) - now I can easily operate smaller 280mm steering wheel (so far had 300mm and it is just-just regarding space with with legs, bigger wheel for less effort was not possible to install. Will see how it works on speed. Even can easily sit in and get out of cockpit with wheel still on column! (this might be partly due to smaller wheel but also highier positioned - more upward angled column. So its based on Opel Agilla used unit (aprox 40GBP ) + controller from servtronic.com (aperox 30GBP) + fuse box , some wiring and lot of scratching my head and internet reading (did not find on this forum similar topic?) Some welding did myself, some I commisioned to experienced welder (this part on column itself). Managed to use original Westfield mouting points, so if want to go back to mechanical column its easy - just unbolt electric, disconnect some plugs, and fit old upper part of column (lower part is still original Westfield one) . Oh, had to change rev-meter to smaller one, before had original Westfield one just above column, was already tight there, bu tnow wit highier posiotion and huge bearing had to go for smaller or relocate, easier was (had a cheap one in local shop )go for smaller. Oh, and in the electronic kit there is a potentiometer to off EPS or change the amount of force. Not sure if it works, maybe on highier speeds, feel like there is some change but not huge. On max setting it not to much anyway. All even fitted under the scuttle, only had to enlarge a little cutout for colum (and had to modify footwell cover) . So few pictures, as those are more than words:2 points

We have met @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO and his travel companions at Tagg Lane Dairy for the last 2 years to see them all off on their holidays and then to welcome them back again. Apart from accessing lusious ice cream at Tagg Lane Dairy it is an exciting thing to do, the atmosphere is quite unique and very enjoyable, plus they are not a bad bunch of guys 😉😍🍦 I have put the 27th June on our calendar and we hope to see you at Tagg Lane. Unfortunately we won't be there to welcome you guys back home as we will be in Switzerland that week. Thanks for inviting people to share your journey 👍1 point

It was quieter than a normal factory open day at GBS, I guess because of the weather forecast but that's ok because there was more cake to go round. Pizza was also available for a small charge, drinks and cakes were free and there were charity tins on the table for you to express your gratitude. The actual weather was dry and sunny until midday, a shower came over and we left at that point. This kept us quiet for a while The Kit Spares shop was open Money was spent Steve is the main guy in the parts department, give him a call if you need anything, he has helped a lot of us (me included) in the past. Steve @Martin Bell - (Bellyboy) Joint East Anglia AO was chauffer driven, thank you John for bringing him and your car. There were some Zero's on display Other cars turned up, all types of cars are invited. A great morning out, meeting some nice people and an offer from GBS for our club to come back and do a factory tour (small charge to cover costs). It would be good to get a multi area meet doing this as it is a good location to get the Derbyshire/Notts, Yorkshire, East Anglia and Peak District areas together. Let me know your thoughts! No run out in the Peak District next weekend as we are all driving the Pennine Way on our Long Way North trip but hope to see you the weekend after.1 point

I've never thought about that before! Or the fact that they are small. When I'm sat in it it's all just normal. But when you see one parked next to a normal car it's hilariously small and low and long. And oh so perfect1 point

Evening, All sadly the car we originally wanted was unavailable by the time we got to it, however Another car got delivered yesterday. Had our first drive tonight and the wife loved it and we cruised for awhile around the Malvern area. The prior owners looked after her well and she came with every piece of paperwork from the moment the first owner printed off the westield home page to every receipt or thing ever done. We are the third owners based on the v5c docs and various names across paperwork which is about a 2 inch pile of papers, which I've now sorted chronologically and put into a binder so I can keep adding to it. Needless to say I'm super excited. We named her Judy for obvious reasons Anyhow looking forward to meet up with other owners and we are now wscc members1 point

Honestly guys keep going North to Edinburgh. Just doing NC500 with my daughter. Scenery is spectacular. We stopped at Berwick on Tweed, saw an otter there whilst having tea and a cake .. that’s your fault @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative ! 😂 Look at the empty roads and blue skies we saw on Tuesday this week! Don’t stop at Edinburgh, keep going North! 😁1 point

More what was missing really. Almost did it DIY but thought I’d patronise Westfield Chesil and buy the exhaust mounting kit. Anyone spot what’s missing?…… …..yep, the mount that bolts to the exhaust. Awaiting a response to an initial phone call and then a follow up email now. So far, not that impressed, sad to say, just crickets at present. Should have stuck to DIY.0 points
