  1. Not the postie, but met up with Barry near Ross-on-Wye on the way back from a show at Stoneleigh to collect these. Pleased to find an orange set of the 13” Team Dynamics wheels I like and look forward to giving them a go, perhaps even tonight down to the Bridport meet

  3. I have had a detailed look at the route book alongside an old fashioned AA map, oh my, it is an excellent route. It includes the Hartside Pass and the Buttertubs Pass, aren't we lucky! We have done lots of it as part of our holidays in the past but then there are bits that will be completely new to us. I have worked out a suggested return route for the third day which I will post up on here. It will be a vague outline and not the lovely detail that Marcus has provided in the route book. Feel free to make your own way home or come with us, it is on the bigger roads but it is not the A1. Thanks Marcus for a route book that will become a momento of the event👍

  5. There is also a fantastic straight/dipping section along the B6318 that runs parallel with Hadrian's wall past Sycamore Gap 😎

  6. I hope you fitted it with some loctite, you don't want to loose that one!

  7. Another useful delivery for me. I lost the plug which seals the vacuum inlet on my inlet manifold, so the car was running really badly. I found a temporary replacement which strangely was a wheel bolt, but I have just received this Allen ‘plug’ which fits perfectly. The problem… The temporary fix… The proper solution, 1/4 BSPT plug….

  8. Echoing @Paul Baker and @Flying Carrot Steve if any of the Cotswolds area want to join the bristol and bath WhatsApp group for Blats/Track days etc then let me know and I'll add you until you can 'encourage' someone to take up the AO Role?

  9. I do love a run through the Cotswolds. I’m planning a day’s run out up that way on Saturday 6th July (yes, sadly I do have to plan my diary that far ahead!). I’ll get proper organised and post a separate thread with the details and hopefully if anyone’s free you can join us. In the meantime, if anyone’s free next Tuesday (11th June), I’m heading to a Kitnet meet up, it’s 7pm at the Bell Inn, Purton, near Swindon. You’d be very welcome to join in. Kitnet is a great club, based in Bristol but covering the whole UK, they’re a great bunch and it’s great to see a whole mix of kits and interesting cars at their meets. Let me know if anyone wants to join and we can meet on route, or just turn up.

  10. Just USB cable your Garmin to your PC and then drag these across into the gpx folder on your Garmin. Then use the Trip button and it should pick them up. These are gpx 1.1 files and older Garmins may need 1.0 so let me know if you think you need those/need any other help.

  11. OK... Here are the backup routes for satnavs with many thanks to @Stuart for sorting , these are .gpx for Garmins and Stuart has advised you need to copy these to Garmin and do not use basecamp software, we also have .itn routes for tomtom's but the forum will not allow these to be uploaded so contact me for these via email if required. The 5 files are the sections of the route/roadbook where we reset the trip meters on the cars as follows: 1 TLWN - Start to Hebden Bridge (fuel/lunch) (trip reset) . 2 TLWN - Hebden Bridge to Scotch Corner (Hotel) (trip reset). 3 TLWN - Scotch Corner to Hartside Pass viewing point (trip reset). 4 TLWN - Hartside Pass to Henshaw (fuel) (trip reset). 5 TLWN - Henshaw to Berwick-Upon-Tweed. 1 TLWN.gpx 2 TLWN.gpx 3 TLWN.gpx 4 TLWN.gpx 5 TLWN.gpx

  12. Excellent drive out today around the Forest of Dean and Monmouthshire. A few holdups but generally pretty clear. I even decorated the car in homage to D-day.

  13. I'm glad it's not just me, my wife seems to think I have a problem 😬. I'll tell her about everyone on here! I seriously regret selling my westy about 4 years back, even if it did turn out to be a cat D. One of the best, if not the best driving experiences I have had to date. I didn't crash it by the way. One of the very few cars that gave me the James May trouser fizz each time I opened the garage door.

  15. PTFE is slippery and there nothing else to stop the blank turning and unscrewing I would use Loctite. But each to their own!

  22. I was a lot like you, Gav, in my younger days. From 16 onward for about 12 years I had 26 motorbikes - at one point having 4. I just got bored after 6 months. Regret selling most of them, and not keeping them longer to let the relationship blossom. The one I regret most was the Moto Guzzi Mk1 LeMans, not because it was the nicest bike to ride (I had others which were better) but I feel I could have grown into it. It was such a good looking bike, and people still talk about them with reverence. On the subject of buying again, I had a Montesa Cota 250 trials bike which I sold and some years later bought the self same bike back.

  23. I've had 48 cars in my tIme, and 28 motorbikes, and regret selling all but three of them. The three I don't regret - a Viva HC 1.8 (had the power of the 1.3 and the thirst of the 2.3), and a 1980 Honda Prelude and a 1980's Toyota Cressida, both of which had more bog than steel in their bodies (and I put more bog in to sell them both).

  24. I guess it’s a nice problem to have isn’t it, which toy car to have! The fact that I’m thinking I might regret it, is a pretty good indicator I suppose. I think if there was something else that I absolutely had my heart set on, then that would make the decision easier. The trouble with me is, once I’ve planted my own ‘mind seed’ I find it very difficult to shake off. So difficult that I’ve never actually managed to shake it off in the past. I’ll see what this next month holds for me.

  27. Lovely car @Westygav, there have been times during my ownership ( since 2008) that I had thought about selling it, as money was tight that year etc, but just could not bring myself to do it. As I know full well if it went, that's probably the last time I could afford one, besides which the time and effort I have put in during that time is just a distant memory, not to mention probably never recouping the cash back. Above all else though, I can't see anything else matching the experience of driving a 7. In fact to commit myself into keeping it, I wrote in my will about gifting it to my most trusted friend ( also a car geek), so that's it now - for life.....

  31. Unfortunately I'm in the very north of the Cotswold WSCC area - near Worcester. So both Swindon and Bristol are a bit of a trek for me with most of it being motorway or dual carriageway. @Paul Baker I'm away on 6th July otherwise I would have been up for joining you.
