Fed up climbing around the car in the garage when trying to work on it. Also fed up starting jobs in the drive only to have to quickly cover the car. Decided to treat her to a carport.

Hi Mat, I'm local to you (just up the road in Cwmbran) but I'm of little use as I've got a ZX10R Megablade. I know @Fat dad is local too, but has an S2000 F20. I know there are a few guys just over the bridge who maybe able to help. @Flying Carrot Steve is in Bristol I believe, he maybe able to point you in the right direction 👍 HTH

Having checked the local weather forecast, Tuesday evening has a high chance of rain, so we will not meet up to go over to the Swettenham Arms classic car evening. Instead, we will meet as normal, on Thursday the 6th, at 7.30pm at the Golden Pheasant, which currently has the better forecast.

About 10 years ago I sold my old Westy (2l Zetec on twin 45s) and I now own a Supercharged VX220 (250 BHP) I do miss the Westy a bit, and am considering coming back to build a project car with my son, but worried I will miss the pace of the VX220 (awesome over taking car!!). Being the engineering geek that I am, Ive plotted the power curve of the VX220 against that of a dunnel spec 200hp Zetec and when you adjust for the different car weights they pretty much match up BHP per tonne across the whole rev range. My VX is 875kg and the Westy would be about 650kg Does anyone local(ish) to Cardiff have a 200 BHP Spec Zetec I could possible get a passenger ride in and compare to my VX (happy to bring along the VX and return the favour) Quite serous about the switch back, so willing to travel a bit to some wider areas meets if there are cars out there...

As expected, there has been quite a lot of interest in this! Hi Mat, I'm north east of Bristol. I have a Zetec Turbo with more than 200bhp, it has 4 stage boost control in the cabin but I'm afraid the lowest I can make it go is 210bhp 😂 I'll link your post in our WhatsApp group now and see if anyone chirps up. I'd gladly take you out in mine soon as I can, atm I've done my left knee in quite badly, hoping to try and drive the Flying Carrot again soon and see how it holds out. Missed Malvern because of it 😤😤😤 I have mates in South Wales who keep asking me to come over for a bbq so maybe I'll even be in the area in the next couple of months. The power to weight of your VX is about 285bhp/tonne, my car is a lot more but if you tell me how heavy you are kitted up I'll be able to work out which boost level to use to give the closest approximation with both of us in the car. Also bear in mind of course that it's a turbo so not only behaves slightly differently but also has massive amounts of torque, a lot more than any equivalently powered NA car I've seen stats for. Really I guess what you need is a powerful NA Zetec to try?

Hello all, Hope you are all well, my name is Graham, I have been looking for a Westfield for best part of 20 years since I was about 14 and now finally in a position to buy one. I have seen one I like the look of, which is amazingly close to where I live but I don't know much about them. Are any members close to Southampton able to look at the car with me/for me and advise if it is a good one? My dad is part of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club and they offer the service where current owners will look at another classic car and advise if it is a good buy before purchase as they obviously know a lot more than you as a new owner! Happy to pay for someones knowledge and experience of course! I work onboard Queen Mary 2 as an engineer, so I am currently away until April, but would rather get the car looked at sooner rather than later so that I don't miss out before the spring rush starts. Is this service available in WSCC? No worries if not, happy to wait until I am home and maybe I am just being inpatient and excited but if anyone is kind enough to help and is local to Southampton, I would love to hear from you!! Forgot to add, as the Westy is only 75% the weight of the VX I`ve only plotted 75% of the VX power. Please shout if there is error in my logic...

You laugh, but several years ago, Scott as membership secretary did a competition that effectively rewarded whoever posted the most; it triggered the most amazing outpouring of verbal diarrhea from a small minority, that we'd ever seen! So just be aware, all powerful admins can make your count go backwards, too!!!

Thank you all so much for your help and advice! It sounds like the thing to do is gather some patience together and have a chat with owners at the local meets first and then yeh, as mentioned go and see Andy at Toybox. I have seen his cars advertised on PH and they are always very nice, quality cars so I don't mind paying for that but equally happy with a private sale if it is closer to my spec for example. My top 3 would be SEiW - I'm 6ft2 so I think i'll need the extra width! 2ltr Zetec or XE, webbers or Jenveys and with a LSD. Preferably Q Plated so i don't have to worry about emissions. Built for comfort over track, realistically I am going to be doing road trips to France and Le Mans over blasting around tracks every weekend, so prefer a car I can drive a hundred miles comfortably in, rather than one which is 4 seconds a lap faster! Thank you!!
