Since it was a nice evening, a few sandwiches and a drink purchased had a picnic at the beach, lol, fortunately I didn't get any sand in said food stuffs and had a nice 30 mins or so watching the dog walkers and the sun go down. The hills of the Lake district in the far distance And a hazy shot of North Pier just poking out into the sea with the Tower hiding in between two flag poles . Car started to get more attention than I like, so went further up the coast only to find it rather busier, so came home .2 points

No, most certainly not. It isn't a policy based on fairness but on gullibility. Like you Richard, I was discovering girls and their 'charms', building and flying control line model aircraft as a hangover from my earlier years, and generally doing irresponsible things as one does at sixteen. Frankly even eighteen is too young but I wouldn't want to try to make a return to twenty one a viable policy. In the adult population there are many diehard voters for both of the current major parties but luckily for every one drooling at the thought of a Corbyn led government, there's another who has pictures of Margaret Thatcher or Jacob Rees-Mogg on their bedroom walls. For many their political preferences are imbibed with their mother's milk. To have a vote is a privilege and shouldn't be scattered around among children in exchange for 'lollipops'.2 points

Never competed with a Westy before, but in others car where I have done, oversteer on corner exit I found to be a mixture of rear ride height and stiffness, raising the rear and softening it all off really help me at least , it may be completely different with a Westy though, wait till the racers post and see what they say, alternatively put a post on the racing section?.1 point

I managed to prepare the Westfield Aerorace for the Classicauto Cup track day. Spanner checked all suspension bolts and nuts, changed oil and filter, changed the brake pumps to get more pedal travel with less foot effort ( 0,7 and 0,75 to 0,625 and 0,7) - much better with its HiSpec calipers. Now I need to do the same with the clutch, now its working almost "binary" 0-1 , easy to stall engine on pit lane etc.. but it's on a cable with a Helix sport disc and pressure plate, dont know maybe changing or lube cable will help , cable is quite old and close to exhaust manifolfd (RHD car) . And despite various suspension setup combinations, the rear is still quite twitchy when exiting corners under acceleration. It's fun, but it doesn't improve lap times or confidence to the car1 point

Thanks guys, at least I know I’m going down the right track with the Velcro and if that’s doesn’t work I’ll give the press stud idea a go1 point

I wish you the best for your health Richard. I'm looking after my wife who has skeletal fragility problems so the Westfield would be unsuitable anyway. My only comment about Heralds and their kin is watch out for rear suspension undertucking! I got into a couple of hairy moments in my 1960 Herald Coupé engined saloon in my madder days! The one below wasn't mine (802 AXT) but it might well have been!1 point

Someone get a second hamster, this one is worn out and needs a break, back to slow mode sadly.1 point

Jay Kay lives quite nearby and he has a legendary car collection. He is often seen in the nearby town never in the same car twice. A local pub was his favoured watering hole until it closed down. If there was a an 'interesting' car outside you could be sure Jay Kay was inside. How he chose which car to take out boggles the imagination. I found that my Westfield was on its trailer in my garage where it had been since my last trackday at Hullavington in 2015 (closed down and built on now). Only a fortuitous request for a Westfield for a project that passed under my nose stimulated my latent need to get it running and sold. It left in February along with its trailer. I was more than twenty years younger when I bought it, partly to satisfy my long standing desire for a Lotus 7 S3 which I had wanted since the kit was about £650 delivered. Also partly because my student son had owned a few cars and never sold one intact or running to date and I wanted to persuade him to buy a sensible car for commuting and to exorcise his need for driving fast with a track day car. He loved the Westfield and would still be doing track days in it except he married an Australian girl and now lives in Sydney. Track days without him were unappealing, my wife developed health problems, and I grew a little older and became more nervous of the exposed nature of the Seven style cars to serious injury to my aging skeleton. So it had to go. I have a late model, low mileage straight six Z3 Roadster in the garage for summer sunny day trips, and it has some integrity in its bodyshell. Ex-pat son, who now has two children, left a car with me for use when he visits and that now occupies the space the trailer/Westfield was sitting in. The Z3 does fewer miles for each of the fifteen years I've owned it and it is in danger of being SORNed half the year. I could never do what Richard (Oldstager) did and keep just a Westfield as my sole car. Perhaps it's a legacy of my 50k miles per annum working days in the 1980s and knowing a solidly reliable all-weather car is part of life, or simply growing old! In the really early days when my sole car was a 1970 MG Midget, I kept a Triumph Tiger Cub in the back of the garage for use on the all-too frequent trips to the BMLC parts department at weekends. That's the limit of my wish to be exposed to the vagaries of car ownership for real necessity. One weekend's nasty surprise!1 point

Sounds more like the hamster was running balls-out but couldn’t keep the wheel going fast enough 😁1 point

There’s nothing that has changed recently regarding the login requirements. Usually if you keep having to log in it’s because your browser has lost/deleted the cookies. Maybe it’s a recent browser update or setting change that’s caused this?1 point

Have to say that despite spending quite a bit of time looking into why this was happening, I couldn’t find anything to explain it other than it appeared to be the MySQL database that was the root cause. Because we run the forum on third party software (Invision Community) it is entirely possible that their code is responsible for this (perhaps by running a complex query every now and then or by running some maintenance task like re-indexing the database). I thought a full reboot would fix it, but it was just the same afterwards. Then it just went back to normal. Very odd. If it is the software vendor’s fault, they are pretty good at releasing updates, so watch this space.1 point

I understand where you are both coming from. At the moment I have motorhome, motorbike, Westfield, Volvo XC 60, Mini cooper and I have to rotate use otherwise to some what is the point. For me they are like my watch collection, I cannot wear them all at once but I get joy out of ownership as well as using them in rotation. Can you imagine how difficult it is for those with many more? Harry Metcalf comes to mind how do people like them chose1 point

It is statistically true. You only have to look at the university towns where students vote have over the years changed typically Tory strongholds into Labour and in the case of Bristol Green councils. In some turfing out Tory MP's. 16 is too young as they have no life experiance and do not have to pay for their decisions. !8 is about right in my mind. It is a distraction I feel as it takes away the media from actually discussing the real issues and policies they should be doing which are a greater concern1 point

We went out for a drive on Sunday but turned back because a cracking/creaking noise from the car was getting worse. Stopped for a check over but couldn't see anything amiss so drove back home. Testing things out I did some driving along a pavement with drop-kerbs every so often. As the front nearside wheel went up and down there was a terrible loud crack/creak. Investigation shows it's one of the top wishbone bushes - presumably nylon - and as the inner sleeve rotates in the nylon (or the nylon rotating in the arm, eeek) it cracks loudly. Squirting lube all over it has done nothing so i will have to strip the bushes out. Sadly with the way the bolts are fed from outside-in that means removing the nose cone and a water pipe. Hopefully get it sorted before malvern. Interestingly, I backed the spaxs off all the way to allow the suspension as free movement as possible but it didn't seem to make any difference, I unbolted the lower damper eye bolt so i could raise/lower that corner assembly but couldn't budge it at all there was so much stiction in the rotating assembly of the bushes. I think it all needs pulling apart for a good checkover.0 points
