1978 MG Midget · Convertible · Driven 12,345 kilometres 1978 MG Midget mk3 1500 Rebuilt and with Tifosi Rana “ frogeye” front and rear panels, finished in Rover Tara green. Great little fun car, I’ve added electronic ignition , hi torque starter and done the head gasket as the previous owner hadn’t torqued the head 🤷🏽 She also has a new chrome wire wheel conversion with uniroyal sport tyres and rear adjustable spax dampers to replace the standard lever arm ones. Mot / tax exempt. The spare wheel is a plain painted spoked wheel. There’s a few spares and odds and ends included , including a pair of modified midget seats ( so both hinge forward to access the boot area ) £6500 Located in N/E Scotland5 points

Since it was a nice evening, a few sandwiches and a drink purchased had a picnic at the beach, lol, fortunately I didn't get any sand in said food stuffs and had a nice 30 mins or so watching the dog walkers and the sun go down. The hills of the Lake district in the far distance And a hazy shot of North Pier just poking out into the sea with the Tower hiding in between two flag poles . Car started to get more attention than I like, so went further up the coast only to find it rather busier, so came home .4 points

No, most certainly not. It isn't a policy based on fairness but on gullibility. Like you Richard, I was discovering girls and their 'charms', building and flying control line model aircraft as a hangover from my earlier years, and generally doing irresponsible things as one does at sixteen. Frankly even eighteen is too young but I wouldn't want to try to make a return to twenty one a viable policy. In the adult population there are many diehard voters for both of the current major parties but luckily for every one drooling at the thought of a Corbyn led government, there's another who has pictures of Margaret Thatcher or Jacob Rees-Mogg on their bedroom walls. For many their political preferences are imbibed with their mother's milk. To have a vote is a privilege and shouldn't be scattered around among children in exchange for 'lollipops'.2 points

Well, I certainly like a challenge, that’s for sure! I left work at 3.15pm, and arrived home at 8.45pm! 5.5 hours 🤪 Traffic was horrendous, unsurprisingly given the bank holiday. I took what was proposed as a faster route down the A3 and A31 which in itself was very hefty, no idea if it cost me time or saved it. At one point, whilst heading down a country lane, I happened upon a ewe with young lamb which had escaped from their field. I spent about 25 mins with a couple of others rounding them up and back somewhere safe! I topped up with fuel just near work, had one comfort break/leg stretch off the A31 somewhere, and then filled up at the ESSO garage on the A303 near West Knoyle. That took me about ten minutes to get back on the A303 due to the amount of traffic using the garage! The final challenge was losing an exhaust bolt about 30 minutes from home, so I had to limp home sounding like a cross between a Messerschmitt and a VW Camper van 🤣. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it all, despite the challenges. 457 miles in two days, job done 👍.2 points

Have to say that despite spending quite a bit of time looking into why this was happening, I couldn’t find anything to explain it other than it appeared to be the MySQL database that was the root cause. Because we run the forum on third party software (Invision Community) it is entirely possible that their code is responsible for this (perhaps by running a complex query every now and then or by running some maintenance task like re-indexing the database). I thought a full reboot would fix it, but it was just the same afterwards. Then it just went back to normal. Very odd. If it is the software vendor’s fault, they are pretty good at releasing updates, so watch this space.1 point

Loving the colour Gary, really suits it. Had I not been in the market for a saloon I most likely would have gone for this instead, I see the old Triumph 1500 in there as well, nice and easy to work on. And at that price a very nice bargain. The best of luck with the sale.1 point

Huge thanks to @HB46443 for taking time out to come along. Also, thanks to @AndrewBClarkewho had intended to come before some last minute work commitments put paid to his plans, the thought still counts my friend. Hedley and I managed to land on time (after a horrible, traffic ridden 90 minute journey through Nottingham) and lead @simmi's hearse to the Crematorium. We managed a couple of somber, slow circuits of the car park before heading home. Hopefully we helped in some small way on a very sad day. My deepest condolences to Neil's family and friends. Judging by the large number of people there, he was loved by many.1 point

You and me both. The Westy has been my only car now for the past 13 years, over that time it has left the driveway very little. I do prefer to tinker with it rather than drive it, and when I do drive it it's to test the tinkered bits, lol... Before Westy life I had a perfectly good Volvo Estate, the Westy came along and I then spent more of my time on the Westy than driving the Volvo - that got sold.. Wind the clock forward from 2011 and things haven't changed I still play with the Westy in the garage , but just of late a health issue arose meaning that life may have to end prematurely, a more "sensible " car has been purchased and hoping that may get me out more ( we will see) . For me cars, or perhaps kitcars are more about the engineering side, I love building new bits for it, see them fail and build a better one. I guess it depends on how much you would miss that side of it should you part company with either car. I too will have two cars again by this time next week, although quite which one I end up playing with the most is anyone's guess. Eta Your post has made me think a bit more on my own situation, and I reckon what I will do is to wait till most of the road legality expires and then SORN it ( the Westy) that way I can't really mess with it much as I will be unable to test anything. My now freed up time can be spent on the new arrival and actually driving it, something of a novelty for me that - just driving for the heck of it...1 point

We've a Capri that has been in my wife's family since new (1984). We've had an external restoration done as otherwise it was going to fall to pieces. So yes we've lost some of the originality but at least we still have the car and should continue to do so for years to come. The other thing for us, was that my mother-in-law (serial Capri owner) got to enjoy the car again in her final years, she couldn't drive it, but loved being taken out in it. Internally we have kept it fairly untouched, there's even stuff like some ancient sweet wrappers and a (IIRC) Blockbuster Video membership card in the ashtrays. The car has been "MOT exempt" since April this year. It's still had an MOT - absolute no-brainer. Why would we want to risk the safety of the entire family by pretending that old cars don't decay?1 point

I used to sit down with a cuppa at work and open all the yellow triumph stags up on ebay in separate windows. Of all my dad's old cars the stag was the one most likely to have survived. It had, and was just a few miles down the road according to the ebay advert, I had almsot been driving past it every day on my commute. The owner offered me and my mum a drive in it for old times' sake .. then the killer blow .. the owner brought out all the old paperwork including going back to when my dad owned it .. and his signature. Well .. I was in tears and my mum (God bless her) gifted me the money to buy it .. so it is now back in the family and will be as long as I can drive .. It even still has the hole in the hardtop headlining I did when I was 10 ... that's 47 years ago now. If you ever get the chance to buy these former family owned cars again please take it1 point

Ah, spoke too soon! After the first few click throughs, it's response time has slowed right down; a back ground process hogging memory/processor cycles again, possibly.0 points

Oh yes, I was aware of the current legislation regarding the MOT and 40 Year old plus cars. Since having to sell my old Spitfire I had kept in the Classic scene , so I get the latest developments as and when they occur. I still haven't got this car yet... it's down to my pension company releasing funds back to my bank account - these places really hate giving you your money back... After a 45 min call explaining why they think they should keep hold of it... Grrrrrr. ETA 6 hours later, lol. Well as suspected the Pension place are mucking me about with wanting paper versions of what they first requested, which was a PDF version of my latest bank statement, this was duly sent over within minutes of the request. This afternoon I received a package asking me to do all that again and send back via snail mail. So, having already turned down an offer from a good friend of a loan , I have just now accepted it and will be collecting said car on the 29th of this month. So to anyone attempting this with their pension company, expect to be messed about with and have to wait way over the time span they quote.0 points
