  1. Bit of a photo bomb this, as I missed yesterday and according to the forecast Wed, Thurs and Friday are wash outs. So unless that forecast is wrong this could well be my weeks worth. Shopping in the Village, never knew we had a chimney sweep around here still... Was such a nice day I went to the local park / estuary and had lunch on the park bench. As I have just bought a Herald, I went to see a chap who has one, sadly he was out, I am parked in his spot here, he lives on one of the house boats, this is 5 mins further down the Estuary. From here a nice ride home, I didn't go far but nice to be out and about for a change.

  2. We went out for a drive on Sunday but turned back because a cracking/creaking noise from the car was getting worse. Stopped for a check over but couldn't see anything amiss so drove back home. Testing things out I did some driving along a pavement with drop-kerbs every so often. As the front nearside wheel went up and down there was a terrible loud crack/creak. Investigation shows it's one of the top wishbone bushes - presumably nylon - and as the inner sleeve rotates in the nylon (or the nylon rotating in the arm, eeek) it cracks loudly. Squirting lube all over it has done nothing so i will have to strip the bushes out. Sadly with the way the bolts are fed from outside-in that means removing the nose cone and a water pipe. Hopefully get it sorted before malvern. Interestingly, I backed the spaxs off all the way to allow the suspension as free movement as possible but it didn't seem to make any difference, I unbolted the lower damper eye bolt so i could raise/lower that corner assembly but couldn't budge it at all there was so much stiction in the rotating assembly of the bushes. I think it all needs pulling apart for a good checkover.

  4. Hi Malcolm, hope you got home safe & dry from the Black Country meet. Was great to see it in the flesh & have a chat around a superb piece of automotive innovation. Are taking it to Malvern? If so, maybe you could commission Price MEC Two or Three if there’s any takers at the show. ATB Phil R

  5. Hi everyone, thanks for your warm welcome 👍. Here's a few pics of my old XJ... Still in the process of doing bits to it & undoing things that the previous owner did that really doesn't suit the car... Lol 🙄

  6. It’s that time again (well almost!) I thought I’d post another diary of the SKCC (southern kit car club) trip as the 2022 Alps one went down quite well. (and most likely a video afterwards) Genuinely I cannot wait, counting down the days! We postponed the 2023 trip (due to the organiser @Tony Bee not being able to ride his mountain bike and falling off!) so this is much needed, especially after the last year or terrible British weather we have experienced. Were all off on 12th June. The same Seven sevens (Westfields) reunite for 10 days of mountain twisties in the sun. @Ricky_B Joint Kent AO @barryO @kenton @Mark Bishop @Rich T The rough plan is 3 of us are travelling from UK to France via the euro tunnel and the 4 from the south coast are jumping on the Ferry travelling from UK to Diepe where we will all meet in Tours the first night and then the following day convoy south through France to the mountainous playground on the French/Spanish border. We will spend the week in the Pyrenees and then all do a big loop back up through France and back to the tunnel on the 22nd. For now, it’s car prep time, fit a new set of rubber, change some euros and pack the essentials - oh and explain the finer detail of the “few days away” trip duration to the wife 😅 more to follow…. ☀️ 🏔️ 🍺

  8. Hi, my name's Andy (good friends with Richard Old Stager). Currently with Rich having just completed my membership. I won't be on here much as I haven't got the car yet but will do one day. In the mean time i'll be tinkering with my 1975 Series 2 XJ. Regards Andy

  9. Hi Malcolm, It was good to see you and your car at the most recent Black Country Area meet. Shame I couldn't be at Curborough to catch up with you again. Clearly, you have spiked the interest of some of our members who were at Curborough though! Hope to catch up with you again over the summer.

  10. Congrats on MOT, not sure what the weather is supposed to be, I tend to just look out of the window these days... Hoping for a pic myself tomorrow, chickened out this afternoon.

  11. Perhaps too much Dave with that collection, well done . See your dilemma now, and guessing the Westy is the least practical of all your cars.

  14. Yes thanks Martin, that's why I now have a 1970 Herald, or will have when it arrives , not really interested in modern stuff. So once that is with me, I am hoping to get to further away places, we will just have to see. Yeah, its 5 discs for me, totally wrecked according to the X rays, Osteoporosis of the back , had to google that as although I had heard of the word I had no clue what it was. This explains the pain however, but the news about not driving a sports car kind of hit hard, had one , in one shape or form for over 30 years now. Hoping a classic saloon takes over where the Westy leaves off.
