Set off this morning with intention of visiting Curborough. By the time I’d passed Twycross Zoo I’d decided I just had to drive further… ended up nearly 150 miles later with a sun burnt nose..5 points

Not exactly ‘on the doorstep’!! Takes me nearly 2hours to get to the starting point 😁. Average mileage on a trip to the Peaks is just over 200. Left home at 7.30am (much to the disgust of my neighbours) and returned at 6.30pm. Plenty of smiles to the gallon.5 points

A small but very select group of us ventured out in the sunshine for a brilliant day in the glorious Peak District in our 7 style cars - two Westies and one roaring Tiger. I met up with @Jakejmagee with Laura at McD in Matlock and the sun decided to make an appearance. We took an ‘adventurous’ route to The Ramblers Inn at Edsle via the famous Winnates Pass where we were joined by @Chris Emm and Mo. After a lovely lunch we took to the small roads again and drove to The Fountain in Bonsall for the traditional Peak District cake top up. Thanks to our official photographer Laura and have unashamedly stolen her lovely photos of the day below.5 points

Hi, my name's Andy (good friends with Richard Old Stager). Currently with Rich having just completed my membership. I won't be on here much as I haven't got the car yet but will do one day. In the mean time i'll be tinkering with my 1975 Series 2 XJ. Regards Andy4 points

What does S2000+S2000 + 2 X Sport 250 equal? Let's ask someone good with numbers A cracking Euro road trip! @Si.Dalziel @Jim cunliffe& @Tim.Coles are joining me for this years pilgramage to the Alps. We're departing on the 27th June and spending 4 nights in Austria before heading over to new territory - The Dolmomites for 3 nights. We were 'blessed' with our first obstacle shortly after booking the train in January from Düsseldorf to Innsbruck and return, to be advised due to work on the lines, they can no longer transport us from Düsseldorf and we can now travel from Hamburg instead! Just great! We've now got a 328 mile blat from Rotterdam to Hamburg in less than 12 hours, which means it will need to be Autobahn- I just hope @Si.Dalziel & @Jim cunliffe behave at this point and don't try a rematch of which is the fastest - S2000 or Sport 250! They both won 'prizes' for their last attempt in Wales! We'll provide trip updates on the Westfield FB group and here too (as and when time allows).3 points

Sun's out, car's out. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 Great turn out this morning with 8 Westfields coming along. Breakfast outside as well. We also had a visitor from Nottingham with Roger coming up in his 11. Good to meet him, and thanks for coming up. Also, my first run for a while without calling the AA. (Car still not running well though)3 points

What a stunning day for it!!! Already quite warm at 9am I headed down to the first meeting point to meet the gang. Lee arrived bang on time and we waited a few minutes for Ian who had come cross country to meet us. Unusually I'd invited one of my neighbours Chris (a fellow petrolhead) who had brought his BMW K1300R superbike having never been to Curborough. A fun jog down the lanes and we landed at Curborough (with Hedley filming our arrival) to be joined by Rachael and Iain (doing their first run after yesterday's dyno session) and then Dan with his zetec powered car. Within minutes Colin also joined us so we had 2 Pinto's, 2 Zetec's and 2 S2000's! Chris's lovely K1300R The weather meant we had some beautiful cars in the car park! Maserati Biturbos are as rare as hens teeth! Classic brits! Yank tanks! On track we had everything from road legal hot hatches, classic Minis, Westfields, Caterhams, Radicals, Formula Ford, classic 911 and even an enormous Dodge Viper with its 8 litre V10! Watching the 911 being wrestled round was a real highlight, fabulous bit of driving in a rear engined classic! Heading home, Chris decided to attempt to follow me on the empty B roads... all I will say is that we might have another biker convert 😂3 points

The MEC One you saw at Curborough today is my car and you are right about what it stands for. I walked past the car as someone was photographing it, perhaps it was you Rob. The mid engine arrangement uses a 1.6 Zetec SE engine, gearbox and driveshafts from a Ford Focus. The engine is standard but gains an extra 20 horsepower by the use of an Omex 600 ECU. The engine and gearbox are not turned around, just moved backwards. The only problem is that the gear selection is rearranged and not wanting to having to select first gear ware fourth should be a compensating mechanism is used to bring the gears back to their normal positions. The roll cage is integrated into the structure of the chassis and the front hoop forms the frame for the windscreen. When looking for a bespoke windscreen I went to several windscreen companies asking if they could cut one down from a larger one but I only got negative waves saying it could not be done without cracking. Eventually I found someone willing to give it a go. A Ford Escort mark three screen was only £28 pounds and the deal was if it cracked it would cost me £28 and if successful the bill would be £56 pounds. It cut without a problem at a good price for a special screen. I also have a Westfield SEIW but that is in dry dock having an engine transplant Cheers Malcolm (Price)2 points

I just cannot understand why this has not sold, it's a stonking little thing. I can only imagine a lot of owners these days maybe want a more modern and powerful engine but no Westfield is ever slow and this one looks a peach to me!2 points

A great day and Martins gazebo kept most of the sun off. The weather gods shone down on us, now looking forward to Malvern.2 points

Welcome Andy! Your welcome to come on here as much as you like, the possession or not of a kit car, whether Westfield or similar, doesn’t matter to us! We’re all just like minded enthusiasts. Oh and whisper it quietly, but we like reading about other cars as much, if not sometimes more than just Westfields!! (It’s always great to see different stuff whether it’s classics, or fun modern cars.) D2 points

For the 9th year in a row, May the 24th is the official National Drive Your Westfield to Work Day, which contrary to the title is actually a week where we encourage you to leave the normal daily driver at home and experience driving the Westfield to your place of work, raising smiles on both your face, and those who join you in the daily drudge. Of course, some of you may no longer frequently travel to a place of work (lucky you!) so like previous years, you can also get creative and get a picture of yourself with your Westfield! A selfie, a picture taken by a member of your family... as long as it is a previously unposted recent picture, everything is submittable! You have the week from the 20th to the 26th to participate 👍 Have a look at previous years: 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. Sadly I can find nothing for the 1st year, 2016, so you just have to take my word for it1 point

Sorry to hear that Richard. You may not be able to use the westy but meeting up in a tin top and seeing people may help a bit. I have had back issues in the past and have 3 fused discs and have had to build up the legs to compensate. We have a few that meet up like that at times and not in westies and its about people more than the cars. The cars are the starter and after that its the banter. if we can help in anyway to make your westie life better then please do not hesitate to ask. Cheers martin1 point

Who would lie about it on the internet... surely no-one? 🤣1 point

I don't know how I missed this post, anyway, a great car and a fair price for spec. I was going to ask the age, but that's posted above, shame you can't keep it a tad longer and it would sell very easily - Albeit getting exported... Someone will get a real classic sound when they buy this.1 point

Is there no westfield events organizer where you are richard?1 point

Given that it’s registered as a Price MEC One I would guess it’s a home built special. Price = name of builder MEC = Mid-Engined Car One = The first one they’ve built1 point

Sorry I am so darned far away from all these great shows, this one was right up my alley. Not a huge amount goes on around here for car fans, unless you want to show how much popping and banging you can do on the overrun... LOL. ( not my scene)1 point

Welcome! As Dave says, we're all just petrolheads here! We have quite a few active members just in my area who don't own Westfields Post up a photo of the XJ, I do love an old Jaaaaaag1 point

It’s an Insta360 X2 which records a full 360 degree view all the time, then you can effective record a video from this, panning around to pick out the views you want. It has some clever features too, for instance you can highlight a particular car or object and get it to track this. I did this on one of the cars ahead of me, going around the hairpin in the second video, works well.1 point

Yes.. Quickest in Caterham pursuit and Karting and finished second overall... driving the JP LM on slicks in the rain was interesting.. they changed to wets for the next session... Yes was really well run... with plenty of spins and trips on the grass..in fact I enjoyed it more in the wet than the last time I went in the dry...1 point

The car is not 30years old yet Ive run the reg and it was registered 1998 so its 4 years short at the moment1 point

Any 7 type car over 30 yrs is easy to import for the French, and 7 type cars are gaining in popularity over there, pushing the prices up. A much more modern type westfield cannot be imported into France IIRC1 point
