Thanks for the kind words. You are of course correct - even poorly driven the Westfield will beat most any street car out there. I’m fortunate to have some serious “modified” competition. There are 1/2 dozen cars that really challenge me to drive my best - a supercharged Ariel Atom, a Winston Cup Fiero (full tube chassis, small block V8, Porsche transaxle, massive slicks…etc), a LeGrand Mk18 and a few Formula 500 road racers. On a tight course with hard pulls out of slow corners the Atom is the biggest threat with its 320 lb/ft of torque and 13” wide slicks….on a fast and open course where aero really comes into play the LeGrand Mk18 is the real deal. With massive downforce it looks like a slot car as it wiggles through slaloms. I always shoot for FTD and I most often get it. Harder to come by is a PAX (performance adjusted index) win - there is a PAX handicap for every class of car that does a pretty good job of leveling the playing field between a street car like a Honda Civic and a full race car. I typically take the PAX award a few times a year and it’s much harder to do. It’s very course dependent but averages out overall over a season. Our regional club does a points series for the season and this past year I’m proud to say that I took the FTD points competition and placed 2nd in PAX points for the year based on lots of top 5 finishes and not all that many first places. It’s good fun any way you cut it! dave8 points

Winter finally has loosened its grip and the summer autocross season has started. I moved into the 2000's by finally getting a Go-Pro and here's my first in-car video taken at an autocross event. I'm two races into my season and so far I've chalked up two wins. Next week I go for number 3. The car is feeling great and balanced and all the winter work has paid off. dave https://youtu.be/r6tShuUtcAY6 points

Had a ball yesterday; over 200 miles around Exmoor, expertly led by Adge who did a fantastic job organising and planning the route for the Dorset area. A few gate crashers including me from Devon & Somerset and Bristol joined to make eight cars (seven Westies and a very rapidly pedalled Mini van!), with an eighth Westie finding us for a while in Bude. Starting at Ralegh’s Cross Inn, we headed across to Bude for a stop at Widemouth bay, then up to Lynton and finally back to Ralegh’s Cross. Generally the roads were pretty clear; a few slow bits behind tractors, stopping to let a herd of ponies cross but plenty of fast open sections too, great fun! I’ve recorded much of it on my Insta 360 so will post some videos up from that, but here are some pics in the meantime. The guys are out for more fun today so I’m sure they will post up separately. Thanks again to Adge for organising, and to Chris, Rory and John for providing tools and help fixing my broken exhaust mount bobbin thingy! Temporary repair done by John to get me home today. 👍 Despite the warm weather, my temps stayed between 85 and 90 so the new rad and water pump etc are working well, and the brakes were fab with the new AP Racing master cylinder 👍. All in all, a grand day out; beautiful weather and great company. I do however need to learn that an ‘All you can eat’ full English Breakfast is not necessarily compatible with a narrow bodied Westfield 🤪 Leg 1 - Ralegh’s Cross to Widemouth Bay Leg 2 - Widemouth Bay to Lynton Leg Three - Lynton back to Ralegh’s Cross3 points

Not Westfield but if there was no Westfield I would not become addicted to 7 tyoe cars - took first time to track my MNR Vortx Inboard with Honda CBR 1000 RR sc95. My first RHD car btw , not only that , maaany new things and impressions. Shortly - seems veeeery promising regarding driving properties, very stable, controlalble, feels like "wider" esp on rear than mine Westfield Aerorace. Also impressions when revving to almost 13 k rpm ... ouch:) But, to be not so good - after 2nd session - lower balljoint somehow pop up from wishbone, wishbobe "touched" rim and act as turner.2 points

Absolutely, any motorsport is good fun, I never did Autotests but sprints and hillclimbs, eventually however I did end up being handicapped ( which I found unfair but folks weren't happy) Still had a blast however , as I said good luck throughout the year, keep us posted please2 points

a great day and thanks to all Devon and Dorset group making me feel so welcome. Really enjoyed trying some different roads, they were epic, incredible views. Special mention to Adge for organising and providing the port, cheese and "dog" biscuits😁. Must consider my outfit for next time.....double pink.... purely by coincidence....i think....lol. secretly though I think i nailed it!!!2 points

It’s certainly the full experience with them off. So long as it’s warm, not raining and you aren’t on Motorways then I enjoy it more. I just had the little wind deflectors on for our Exmoor trip and it was lovely, my hat even stayed on! When it warmed up, I took them off for some more fresh air but need to reverse the baseball cap and look a right idiot for it to stay on! 🤣2 points

With retirement and a change in priorities (currently converting a Mercedes Sprinter into a camper) so time has come to sell my beloved Westfield. Built by myself (qualified engineer), first registered on age related plates in 2006 with the ultimate plate F1WSC currently assigned meaning no need to be concerned about emissions come MOT time. I kept the specification pretty much as first built until lockdown happened and in need of a new challenge and project I decided to focus on the Westfield and carry out a major transformation as detailed below which cost almost £7k nett after selling removed parts. Focus was on transforming the handling by fitting Siltech Racing suspension all round after meeting with Dennis and Andy and seeing the brilliant parts they have designed and manufactured, simply the best out there. Specifcation: 2.0 Zetec on 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, Emerald M3DK ECU and custom mapped by Dave Walker at Emerald achieving 165hp Engine is correctly registered with DVLA as NON cat with the obvious benefits this brings Dunnel Racing reduced height baffled sump MT75 box Reconditioned 3.61 LSD Siltech superwide front suspension using aircraft specification T45 steel Siltech billet aluminium front hubs Siltech drilled front discs Siltech branded 4 pot Willwood callipers Black Hawk ceramic front pads Siltech front ARB Siltech micro adjustable rear suspension Protech shocks Rear uprights replaced with new Westfield parts including bearings VW Golf rear callipers, new discs and Brembo pads New driveshafts and CV joints (4) New quick rack with Superpro silicon mounts Full suspension set up including corner weighting by Northampton Motorsport Compomotive CXR 7J ET30 graphite grey Toyo R888R 205/60/13 Factory spec ZK bodywork V8 bonnet with black powder coated grills Carbon NV aero+ cycle wings Carbon NV rear arch protectors Standard width rear arches treated with Wunderseal. With the Siltech superwide front suspension and micro adjustable rear, track difference front to rear is just some 20mm Factory supplied powder coated chassis RAC roll bar Custom made leatherette saddle stiched tunnel cover and matching gear lever and handbrake boots Westfield sports seats on adjustable runners TRS 4 point harnesses OMP Trecento steering wheel Half doors USB LED lights all round including replacement CBS headlights all correctly E marked Self cancelling indicators Glencoe E100 compatible fuel pipe throughout Autocom intercom Fuel tank impact protection bar All receipts from new plus build manuals etc.. etc…… Car has been serviced annually regardless of mileage and kept in an Air Chamber. Road use only. Number plate is extra, however will be offered in the first instance to whoever buys the car. ** MOT till 8th May 2025** REDUCED PRICE £13,500, plate is extra1 point

If you're not allergic, Nurofen Plus 'cos it has codiene, which will bung you up. Might strike the right intestinal balance. That said, I had a bout of tonsilitis a few years ago (my first time) and the antibiotics really done me over after about 3 days. I don't usually react that badly... however called the nurse and explained and she said have a pot of activia a day. No way thinks me, but stuff me it really worked.1 point

Me neither, lol, the local shop are doing rather well in toilet roll sales though, so not all bad, lol.1 point

Yeah I've discovered this week that I don't tolerate opioid painkillers well at all 🤢🤮🤢🤮1 point

It was a hard slog for me that CBT, not physically obviously, but mentally, I was completely drained afterwards, to the point I would sit in the car afterwards and just sit there maybe 15 mins or so. It did do something, just wasn't as long lasting as I'd hoped.1 point

Likewise, I have cut my viewing of stuff like this to maybe 3 hours a day, although I have been on here pretty much since 6am this morning, but it's far easier on me doing this than watching a YT vid that needs far more concentration to follow along. Also did a bit of house work, although my back issues hamper that somewhat - pain killers help, but as always they come with side effects !!!, laxatives anyone1 point

I know what YOU mean by CBT but having a warped mind I always chuckle to myself about another meaning of that initialism! 😂1 point

Stuff like this is absolutely fascinating. It's getting time these days to watch and absorb when there is so much vying for your attention every single minute or every single day. I'm already falling apart from sitting down too much, my left knee ligaments just went pop this week from lack of use! I could easily sit and watch stuff 15 hours a day I reckon but I don't want to die just yet 😂1 point
-
It was very good, I thought I knew all about it until this lady mentioned a few things. The CBT sort of worked for a few years, but things went South a bit following both family and my own pet losses, so the GP has suggested a new tactic, which I won't talk about at he moment unless it proves useful to me.1 point

I can’t help with mounts but for the screen wouldn’t recommend using Perspex. Perspex is a brand name of acrylic and although tough it is very brittle and shatters into shards. I’d suggest using polycarbonate which has much better impact resistance and won’t shatter when hit by a stone.1 point

It's confusing, because the bits are available separately, ie crush tub, single nylon top hats can each be bought singly, so "set" is the parts to make one bush, not as you'd normally see it where a set would me a full car set. Be aware that if you have independent suspension, the outer, lower wishbone bush, opposite the rose joint, MUST be kept as a metalastic bush, or the suspension can bind with some geometry settings. (There's a similar issue with live axle cars, too, but I can't remember which trailing arm bushes etc have to remain metalastic)1 point
