Fitted the new pipe and it appears to have fixed the problem. So dropped it at my local MOT station and happily it passed (as expected). Now I can tax it and take it for a spin. So happy days are here again.2 points

Motor factors might not be the best place .. many still seem to be selling that generic hose that fails within a year of e10 use. Bite the bullet and go with cohline or gates ethanol proof if you can ?2 points

Great!- We're still crazy 😁 Sadly the few train dates in and out of Austria mean we won't be in Italy over a weekend- As you can see we leave on the Sat, but you could drive on the Sat morning with us? It's only about 2.5 hours to Innsbruck from our Hotel, so we can go Pass Blatting on Saturday morning too with you. Passo Giau is on our list as well as - passo costalunga, Passo Falzarego, Passo Fedaia, passo Gardena, Passo Monte croce, Passo Sella, Passo Stelvio & Gallerie Passo San Boldo2 points

The 390 actually had 397 hp, apparently. 3.8sec 0-60, so fast, but not crazy. About the same as a 5 seat, 2 tonne electric SUV these days.2 points

With retirement and a change in priorities (currently converting a Mercedes Sprinter into a camper) so time has come to sell my beloved Westfield. Built by myself (qualified engineer), first registered on age related plates in 2006 with the ultimate plate F1WSC currently assigned meaning no need to be concerned about emissions come MOT time. I kept the specification pretty much as first built until lockdown happened and in need of a new challenge and project I decided to focus on the Westfield and carry out a major transformation as detailed below which cost almost £7k nett after selling removed parts. Focus was on transforming the handling by fitting Siltech Racing suspension all round after meeting with Dennis and Andy and seeing the brilliant parts they have designed and manufactured, simply the best out there. Specifcation: 2.0 Zetec on 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, Emerald M3DK ECU and custom mapped by Dave Walker at Emerald achieving 165hp Engine is correctly registered with DVLA as NON cat with the obvious benefits this brings Dunnel Racing reduced height baffled sump MT75 box Reconditioned 3.61 LSD Siltech superwide front suspension using aircraft specification T45 steel Siltech billet aluminium front hubs Siltech drilled front discs Siltech branded 4 pot Willwood callipers Black Hawk ceramic front pads Siltech front ARB Siltech micro adjustable rear suspension Protech shocks Rear uprights replaced with new Westfield parts including bearings VW Golf rear callipers, new discs and Brembo pads New driveshafts and CV joints (4) New quick rack with Superpro silicon mounts Full suspension set up including corner weighting by Northampton Motorsport Compomotive CXR 7J ET30 graphite grey Toyo R888R 205/60/13 Factory spec ZK bodywork V8 bonnet with black powder coated grills Carbon NV aero+ cycle wings Carbon NV rear arch protectors Standard width rear arches treated with Wunderseal. With the Siltech superwide front suspension and micro adjustable rear, track difference front to rear is just some 20mm Factory supplied powder coated chassis RAC roll bar Custom made leatherette saddle stiched tunnel cover and matching gear lever and handbrake boots Westfield sports seats on adjustable runners TRS 4 point harnesses OMP Trecento steering wheel Half doors USB LED lights all round including replacement CBS headlights all correctly E marked Self cancelling indicators Glencoe E100 compatible fuel pipe throughout Autocom intercom Fuel tank impact protection bar All receipts from new plus build manuals etc.. etc…… Car has been serviced annually regardless of mileage and kept in an Air Chamber. Road use only. Number plate is extra, however will be offered in the first instance to whoever buys the car. ** MOT till 8th May 2025** REDUCED PRICE £13,500, plate is extra1 point

Firstly, how many of you have owned, then sold your Westfield, to then regret it and then up buying another one further down the line? You see, I'm fickle and an impulse purchaser of many different things in my life and my Westfield was no exception to that. 2 years ago I woke up on a Saturday morning and completely out of the blue and thought to myself. I wouldn't mind owning one of those Westfield's and the following week I bought the one I have now. I few other examples of past purchase history impulse buying. I had a lovely Mercedes, I really liked it and I took it in for it's service. On the way to the service counter I passed another one which looked nice, 2 hours later and I'm now the owner of different but perfectly nice Mercedes. Several years ago a friend of mine had a Jaguar XKR, he took me out in it, he turned the TC off, I strongly advised him not to do it and well. We ended up in a tree, the car was smashed to bits, BUT the car was brillent (before he put it head on into a tree of course)! Two weeks later I bought one myself for a weekend car. Supercharged V8 through a stainless steel system was such an amazing sound. My wife loved that car too, especially when she was heavily pregnant, because to drive, it was such a nice car for her to get in and out of and with loads of room. More recently (Aug 23) I woke up one morning at 04:30am, decided I wanted to buy a Mazda MX5 for the track and by 07:15am I was at a chaps house and now the the new owner of it. And just like all the many impulse purchases in my life, I got bored and sold them. The MX5 went last month, I did a few trackdays and got bored. The Westfield has lasted a while for me and I'm not......'bored' I just get itchy feet. I've driven it loads! That's another side to my personality, I get into something (whatever it is) and I just absolutely go full beans addictive at it. If I got into knitting, I'd make everyone on this forum a jumper within a week! It's a fantastic car, drives lovely, it's an absolute head turner and if I'm honest, I really like the attention and it sounds great too. Plus, I love the social side that it's offered, I've met some fantastic people and I've now got some great friends too. I'm not sure if I want to try something else for a while, but not entirely sure what. But this could be one I regret selling if I did sell it. So, back to my first line. Who's regretted and bought again?1 point

I didn't know it could do that, cool stuff thanks. Yeah I tend to use the PC for all pic and video editing, mainly it's because I understand the tech and also because the screen is bigger, I realise that phones have taken over from the PC a bit, but I can't let it go, lol. I'm not a luddite, I just enjoy "old school" things.1 point

I must admit, I don’t often (ever!) view things on the PC, I do everything on my phone. On the phone you can edit which image is used as the key image, or convert it or copy it just as a still. This little video shows me editing a Live Photo I took of a bird flying into its nest this evening to choose the best image from the sequence, all done on my phone.1 point

Interesting day today heading home from Dartford to Crewkerne. Two McLarens spotted, one identified as an Artura V6 PHEV S-A from the reg, didn’t see what the other was. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren_Artura Nearer home, an Ariel Atom which are fairly common near me given the location of the factory.1 point

The live mode is actually quite handy at times. The phone is clever and picks the best frame from the video as the still. For instance, if taking a picture of someone, it will pick the frame with their eyes open generally, or you can manually choose it. Batteries last longest when you run them down all the way before recharging. Constant recharging from half full reduces the capacity more quickly I believe. It should last pretty well on the new one, and you can also enable low power mode which helps it last longer by turning off certain non essential services. It’s in the battery menu in settings.1 point

Hi Richard - the clips are called "live photos" - to turn them off go to the camera and click on the second icon from the left (the icon is a dot surrounded by a solid ring then a dashed ring). I would take a photo for you but I need my phone for that! Sorry, can't answer your battery question.1 point

Indeed Steve, I purposely built the pond just for frogs, never had much luck with plants in ponds. Although it's a bit disconcerting when on a damp dark night I go out to the garage and have to dance over the many frogs on the paving. Thankfully, never hit one yet...1 point

If it helps I sent a set of wheels and tyres with DPD recently, each were boxed individually and it worked out a just over £10 a wheel.1 point

As someone who hates doing the same job twice, agree with @joolz, my last lot of of unbranded "supposed" Ethanol proof pipe lasted 3 years... Yes the named ones are more expensive but thats's for a reason - they work.1 point

It’s reached the stage where it’s largely impractical to avoid having our personal data spread far and wide and risk being hacked. Even the most supposedly safe and secure places clearly aren’t either of those things. My former employer got hacked a while back, along with a bunch of other big players, due to one of their contractors getting compromised. They gave me a free account on Experien so I could see if anything nasty happened as a consequence, but that was it. I’m still waiting for Experien to get hacked Any additional presence increases the risk, but I’ve pretty much taken the view that the ship has sailed and there is no going back. Doesn’t stop me being as careful as I can be of course, but I don’t let it get in my way.1 point

Very funny and abolutley, relatable. So many purchases i've made have been impulse. Or I've needed to itch the exciting itch of what ever it is before i can move on to normal stuff, only then to not actuall use the item just ordered as by the time its arrived i've lost interest. I'm not very good at selling stuff as i hate the though i might want it at some point so best keep it. I have a room full of bikes and garage full of stuff i'll never use. Its been suggested to me I may have ADHD, i've no idea or care really.1 point

Lovely car @Westygav, there have been times during my ownership ( since 2008) that I had thought about selling it, as money was tight that year etc, but just could not bring myself to do it. As I know full well if it went, that's probably the last time I could afford one, besides which the time and effort I have put in during that time is just a distant memory, not to mention probably never recouping the cash back. Above all else though, I can't see anything else matching the experience of driving a 7. In fact to commit myself into keeping it, I wrote in my will about gifting it to my most trusted friend ( also a car geek), so that's it now - for life.....1 point

Started the Westie for the first time in about 6 months. All seemed fine for the first minute or two, while I let it warm up whilst sat on the drive. But then it spluttered and stopped as I noticed a big pool of fuel under the front of the car. Off with bonnet, fuel everywhere, including sitting on the top of the engine. So I assume a leak from around the carb. Something to look at in more detail tomorrow. Hopefully just a broken clip or split pipe.0 points

In an incredible act of automotive sleuthing 🕵️😉, I tracked down an oil leak which was from one connection to my oil cooler. After an equally fine piece of diagnosis at our meet last night, Malcolm @Wessex pronounced ‘Stu, your oil cooler is f****d!’ 🤣 ‘Nuff said, replacement ordered and hopefully will be fitted this weekend so I’m up and running again.0 points
