This cool dude @Glynn Walters has done a very impressive job of fitting another 1.8 litre mk2.5 MX5 NB engine into his car, only this one has got a turbo fitted to it whoosh, it didn't overheat and nothing fell off, so Glynn was pleased to get some 'running in' miles done. Well engineered Glynn, for someone that works full time, you have really trapped on and got it done, in no time at all you are back out in Gnasher, great. Early bird got the worm, bagging the best parking spot The others soon lined up and after a closed A38, Stuart did make the mammoth journey to join us too, along with Mark and Sonia in the SLK. The museum's gathering was well attended and also included 'Morgans in May' With Tony in his tin top, and Dave and Andy having to scoot off, that left the rest of us to go on the run out, keeping a careful eye on the black clouds, thankfully we were blessed with sunshine all the way and even got home in the dry. In the absence of all 3 Andy's we kept up the tradition of supporting the local cake industry going at Hulme End. The monkeys tea party Parked at Hulme End I am sorry @Stuart that I didn't get a photo of your car, it was lovely to see you and let's hope it's easier for you next time. Tony @TM54, always lovely to see you and hope the lowered floor is a success. Lastly @Mark zawada, thank you for bringing Sonia, keep her warm and cover those ears and let's see you both on The Long Way North 2, you will make great memories together. Thanks for coming everyone, see you next time xxx7 points

Really loving my time with the car (nearly 2 weeks in). Naturally helped by the perfectly timed change in the weather! Slowly building up my 'feel' of the car. The car always looked mega, came from a wonderful source and was also known via this club to be maintained on a no-expense-spared basis - but that hasn't stopped me wanting to build up my own trust in the cars abilities and reliability patterns. I've therefore been building up the length of my runs out, carrying out routine checks, and generally just gaining more confidence after each trip. Pleased to report it's been fantastic. Hot and cold starting is effortless, it's leak free, handles like a dream, and basically just a joy to own. Carried out a couple of small additions so far - a hard wired CTEK MXS and a small suction rear view mirror as I found I needed a bit more rear visibility aside from the side mirrors. Reactions are great aren't they! Always had positive reactions with cars such as the Elise in the past, but the amount of double-takes, point-and-stare reactions and thumbs up are on another level. Wife and kids currently having to draw straws on who's next to be the passenger, which is great as it's proving to be fun for everyone as I'd hoped for. Finally, a nice self indulgent pic to round off the post.4 points

Thanks Julie great run out👍 Although unfortunately for me it’s not a 2.5 litre 😂 just a 1.8 litre mk2.5 NB engine same as before but with added whooshy bits!2 points

I was a lot like you, Gav, in my younger days. From 16 onward for about 12 years I had 26 motorbikes - at one point having 4. I just got bored after 6 months. Regret selling most of them, and not keeping them longer to let the relationship blossom. The one I regret most was the Moto Guzzi Mk1 LeMans, not because it was the nicest bike to ride (I had others which were better) but I feel I could have grown into it. It was such a good looking bike, and people still talk about them with reverence. On the subject of buying again, I had a Montesa Cota 250 trials bike which I sold and some years later bought the self same bike back.2 points

With retirement and a change in priorities (currently converting a Mercedes Sprinter into a camper) so time has come to sell my beloved Westfield. Built by myself (qualified engineer), first registered on age related plates in 2006 with the ultimate plate F1WSC currently assigned meaning no need to be concerned about emissions come MOT time. I kept the specification pretty much as first built until lockdown happened and in need of a new challenge and project I decided to focus on the Westfield and carry out a major transformation as detailed below which cost almost £7k nett after selling removed parts. Focus was on transforming the handling by fitting Siltech Racing suspension all round after meeting with Dennis and Andy and seeing the brilliant parts they have designed and manufactured, simply the best out there. Specifcation: 2.0 Zetec on 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, Emerald M3DK ECU and custom mapped by Dave Walker at Emerald achieving 165hp Engine is correctly registered with DVLA as NON cat with the obvious benefits this brings Dunnel Racing reduced height baffled sump MT75 box Reconditioned 3.61 LSD Siltech superwide front suspension using aircraft specification T45 steel Siltech billet aluminium front hubs Siltech drilled front discs Siltech branded 4 pot Willwood callipers Black Hawk ceramic front pads Siltech front ARB Siltech micro adjustable rear suspension Protech shocks Rear uprights replaced with new Westfield parts including bearings VW Golf rear callipers, new discs and Brembo pads New driveshafts and CV joints (4) New quick rack with Superpro silicon mounts Full suspension set up including corner weighting by Northampton Motorsport Compomotive CXR 7J ET30 graphite grey Toyo R888R 205/60/13 Factory spec ZK bodywork V8 bonnet with black powder coated grills Carbon NV aero+ cycle wings Carbon NV rear arch protectors Standard width rear arches treated with Wunderseal. With the Siltech superwide front suspension and micro adjustable rear, track difference front to rear is just some 20mm Factory supplied powder coated chassis RAC roll bar Custom made leatherette saddle stiched tunnel cover and matching gear lever and handbrake boots Westfield sports seats on adjustable runners TRS 4 point harnesses OMP Trecento steering wheel Half doors USB LED lights all round including replacement CBS headlights all correctly E marked Self cancelling indicators Glencoe E100 compatible fuel pipe throughout Autocom intercom Fuel tank impact protection bar All receipts from new plus build manuals etc.. etc…… Car has been serviced annually regardless of mileage and kept in an Air Chamber. You have beaten me by some margin @BigSkyBrad I came to 4 wheels late in life, wasn't until I past my 4 wheeled test when I was 26. So Just 5 ( 6 with Westy but I still have that ) cars and 7 motorbikes and 3 Robins ( depends if you call those cars?) I regret selling one car and just one bike, they were a Volvo 740 Turbo estate and a Honda VF 750 FD. Have been looking at those on for sale adverts and both are quite silly money today.1 point

I've had 48 cars in my tIme, and 28 motorbikes, and regret selling all but three of them. The three I don't regret - a Viva HC 1.8 (had the power of the 1.3 and the thirst of the 2.3), and a 1980 Honda Prelude and a 1980's Toyota Cressida, both of which had more bog than steel in their bodies (and I put more bog in to sell them both).1 point

Yes, agreed. There are some aspects which need tweaking. Given your comments I'll spend a bit more time working on what the results were within our current rules as there is some possibility to score in a different way when Competitors are split. Then circulate to SSOT, and Competitors if required. Given that we are running a different system this year, towards the end of the year, I'll be sending round a Questionnaire to ask if Competitors views and what to do for 2025.1 point

For my 10 pence worth I think the scoring system still needs to be fine tuned, on my entry for Gurston I entered Class 11 - Modified Cars - Specialist Production Cars any capacity and both Mark Claxton & Mark Bishop entered Class 4d - Road Cars - Specialist Production any capacity, it seems a bit unfair that I took points away from both Mark's who were on road tyres while I am running on slicks.1 point

I did the same upgrade to mine, definitely makes the car more lively and makes the old "heel and toe" action so much fun!1 point

Perfect weather for a Peaks run today! 9am just south of Derby with Ben, Dan, Lee, James, Paul and myself. Tim joined us as we were setting off. A quick stop north of Derby to collect new member Mark and we headed for the wide open spaces of Derbyshire! A good hours worth of fun B road blatting before landing at Monyash to find it rammed full of bikes! Having spent so many days out with @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative , the internal satnav kicked in and I diverted the long way round to the Bull 'i Thorn where Glynn joined us maming whooshing noises.... hopefully it's just his new turbo 😂 The Bull 'I Thorn used to be a regular haunt of ours but we hadn't been back since its reopening. Glad we did as the breakfasts were lovely and could sit out in the sunshine to stuff our faces! When everyone was suitably refreshed, the gang started to head their seperate ways so I took the opportunity to give Mark a sample of 9,000rpm with a quick passemger ride. Having come from bikes and owned some fast Porsches, Mark is already thinking about upgrades to his ITB'd Zetec 😂 Mark also fancied stretching the legs of his car a little now he was getting used to it, so the two of us had a more spirited little convoy on the way home until he peeled off near Derby. Cracking day out, hope you all had a laugh and got home safely 👍1 point
