Just an apology for absence really, some ( but not all) are aware I have mental health issues, well it hit me again and only this last few days/weeks have I begun to engage with the world again ( sounds stupid but that's how it is) I need to be somewhere that I am familiar with again, and here is really were I should belong. So expect more mayhem from me , lots of car changes have happened since I was last on here and I will post those as and when . catch you around folks. Regards Richard.9 points

We have a trip to Weybourne on the north Norfolk coast this Saturday if the weather is fine. There are currently about half a dozen of us planning to go. If you fancy joining us please give me a shout for further details.1 point

Modern have Independent too. But I have read in that time Westfield need to do sth different to be different . And did that in good direction. MNR well I have to like it as I am building one but its not so smile realase desingn as Westfield's. Not metion so helpfull and friendly community as for Westfields! I am proud to have WSCC stickers on Westfields. And - You look at Westfield and just smile ! I love that topic just too look at all that cars . Powerfull antidepressant1 point

I believe most of them have a De Dion rear suspension, although recently I found out the the CSRs have fully independent suspension. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Dion_suspension https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caterham_7_CSR1 point

Congrats Craig, welcome back to Westy land, hope we all have a decent summer, although not the 40 deg we had a few years back, that was a bit much lol...1 point

I would add that better than any other 7-type car. MK, GBS, GKD/DMO, MNR.. maybe Donkevoort wins there, but that is supercar category rather than simple lightweight straight 7-type. But saing that, all 7 type looks and are great! I have heard that this falling out with caterham ended with independent suspension rear in Westfields too (to differentiate Westfield from Caterham) . Not sure if this is true ?1 point

It went up 1st April. IIRC from £325 to £345 for a one off 12 month payment for mine. Always tax mine 31st March to stave it off for a year....1 point

Awww thanks Steve, yeah it's more common than folks think, trouble is folks don't talk about it because of the stigma, well I changed my tack on that some years ago and thought sod if I'm not well I will say why. The only sticking point to that is by the time I have realised that I am bad again, I don't communicate much, so places like here just see me disappear with no word - I must change that.1 point

I don't know you Richard but welcome back and never forget you are not alone. From one sufferer to another - stay strong, reach out if you need to, many of us have suffered I'm certain of that.1 point

Likewise, perhaps bias, but I think the falling out with Caterham was the best thing that could have happened to Westfield SC. Although to the average guy in the street it is a Caterham because that's all he has seen on TopGear and the likes.1 point

@Richard (OldStager) I don't know the exact route yet, but the first day is Edale to Scotch Corner and second Scotch Corner to Berwick on Tweed. So I doubt if we'll go near the M6. Good luck with the carbs 🤞1 point

If you've successfully paid you get a txt and e-mail to confirm, but I generally pay 12 months in one go. I'm not sure what the process is for direct debit. Though if you put your reg in and it's showing not taxed, I'd say your safe to assume it's continued. If you pay 6 or 12 months upfront, you can still cancel and get a refund for remaining full months if you need to, but we hope you done. Given you've had an e-mail saying the DD is successful, perhaps check later or tomorrow.1 point

@Stuart I found the page eventually, I am already booked on a Wirral Classic car show at WaterWorld ( Neston) well thats assuming my back is good enough to drive all the way there and back, having said that that show is only the 23rd the Sun, so unless you are passing by me on the 22nd I could perhaps join in with the convoy so to speak and break off at some point?. When I was staying down there two years ago, I re-joined my old car club, and I attended the inaugural first show at the venue, I went last year too.1 point

Thanks Stuart means a lot. Yeah been mucking about with the webers etc, had a huge issue trying to get it started again after a 9 month layup, was Ethanol related (as a spoiler) but I will post all that om my build page if I can remember how to navigate around here again, lol. ETA just realised the tax is out tomorrow, wow what a coincidence with me here now - its like someone or something forced me here - spooky stuff.1 point

@joolz the maps and other images are now back. I hope this and a good chat with Rob and the gang on Thu, makes things clearer and we'll look forward to seeing you there.1 point

Indespension have branches across the country including NI and ROI and offer hire. https://indespension.co.uk/trailers/to-hire?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rCX3G0ajaO1K0-dRWGLHUspLCM6diXN3duiBv0F2CWNSZ6tHVXY1rBoCwsAQAvD_BwE No idea of prices though and whether you can return it to a different branch.1 point

Heroic first trip! I think it took me two years to travel that many miles in mine. Only in year 3 did I venture onto the motorway, so was pleased to discover that as you say, the SEiGHT cruises quite happily there. (In my defence, there are no motorways in Dorset, so I have to go quite far out of my way to ever reach one.) I'm sure there'll be a convoy of Dorset/Somerset cars up to the summer meet and AGM at Malvern, so join us for that.1 point

Easter Sunday in the Peak District could be risky with traffic jams and such like but not today, oh blimey, it was empty on the roads. 9 Westfield's met at a cold and cloudy Hulme End, 7 in a row here and the remaining 2 here Glynn was wearing some of our new club merchandise from 'logo that polo', here he is with his new wooly hat which perfectly matches the lovely colour of his Westfield After warming up inside the surprisingly empty cafe 9 Westfield's took off on our travels, heading straight for the Bentley Brook road, one of our favourites as it is sweeping bend after sweeping bend. After crossing the Via Gellia road, we were 7 Westfield's as 2 had to go home and it really got interesting, a mix of new tyres, dry roads, emptyness, ooo, Glen commented I was like a woman possesed, it was awesome. I would like to thank the great drivers behind me for being an excellent convoy, we didn't get split up once, making it much more enjoyable for me too. The roads were so quiet I took us through Bakewell, it was no problem, unbelievable what difference the sunshine makes i.e no sun, no tourists. After the excitement we landed at Quackers for lunch, where it was busy, so we sat outside. The cake flowed Andy's speedo was not working (officer!😁), it wasn't the fuse ???? Easter Bunnies have been replaced by Easter Frogs, which I can confirm are just as delicious Thanks for coming everyone, thanks for taking photo's on the move Becky and thanks for making a great day out all round. See you next time XXX1 point
