My car is indisposed currently, doing some work on the brakes and pedals so I headed to meet the others at Sparkford roundabout the Mondeo TToS 🤪. Not alone, Matt was in his A Class, leaving Jon the only one to be in a Westfield Heading in, it was very well attended with a wide variety of cars there. We had a look around the Heritage Workshops first off, with some lovely machinery being worked on which included a Lamborghini Muira, V12 Ferrari of some kind and an old Jag being restored. Whilst there, we saw Mr Haynes junior in a lovely AM DBR2 which he was shaking down after being worked on. The obligatory bacon/sausage baps were consumed followed by a wander round for an hour or so. Dave was there in his Elise, and we also bumped into @Paul Baker @SXRORY Paul and Rory down from Bristol, whose cars were in the paddock. Home by 10.40, a nice way to spend the morning.8 points

Along with an eclectic mix of 80 other cars, participated in Minehead Motor Club’s Spring Tour today. As usual, a very enjoyable ~70 mile run around the country lanes of the Quantock and Brendon Hills on the Somerset/Devon border. As expected plenty of mud and standing water about, at least the ford was shallow! Guess this week I’ll be cleaning the car!7 points

A great morning blat down to Haynes for the breakfast club. And great to bump into @Stuart Davis (fatblokestu) AO- Devon & Somerset and co! Early morning start out of Bristol and it definitely wasn't a dry one. Have to admit I was wavering but @SXRORY was keen and the tickets were paid for so we set off. Turned out to be a good shout as the weather turned in our favour. Nice to line the Westfields up in the theme Paddock (Best of British theme this month). Then it was a breakfast bap and a look around the machinery on display. Here's a few of the other cars that caught my eye: And I went back in time to one of my favourite old cars from my younger days! I didn't have a giant spoiler on my Probe though...3 points

Hope you have some success with getting it started tomorrow. I’ve shared it with our local WhatsApp group to see if anyone is available to take a look if not.3 points

Thank you @AndrewBClarke for a great day out and for leading the run, that massive lamb dinner must be good fuel 😁, it meant we could get some rare photo's of our car from the front, thank you Sue @Andy Westwood. Great to meet you @Mark zawada and really glad you felt welcomed into our mad area. Watch out for @ianali they have photo's of the three point turn, Andrew got us to the right village but at the wrong end 😮, don't mention it though will you 😁 We went to the 'Member's Only Meet' at the museum first and made some new friends. Have you noticed, nobody has just 1 car😄 Car museum Car museum Lunch break Mark's wheels that we were drooling over. Toybox have plenty more of them for sale apparently. I hit the 70,000 mile mark on my odometer as we were travelling along today. That means I have driven 60,000 miles in a Westfield, yeah. On the move Great to see everyone and thanks for the laughs xxxx3 points

Sorry - got other high priority things going on so no time for full write up. I’ll do it as soon as I can but here are the photos in no particular order. In the meantime, thanks for everyone for coming. Lovely day out with good friends. All on my own at Quackers - it appears that the opportunity of a lay in was too much of a temptation and the others were at the next stop. Either way pleased to get there as my car had fuel starvation issues on the way. At the Great British Car Journey we met Mark with his brand new Westfield - much admired Didn’t take a photo of @Andy Westwood car as it was not a Westfield!! Travelled to The Travellers Rest for dinner. Got somewhat photobombed by a luminous van. Then moved on the Baslow Cricket Club for the obligatory Peak District cake. Weather even held up. Brilliant. Fuel starvation again on the way home so not low fuel level in the tank. Time to look into a new fuel pump I think.3 points

Do please post some pictures. I think the charm of these early cars now is in having them in close to original build spec, Ford Crossflow with twin sidedraft twin choke Webers (or a single twin choke downdraft Weber), live axle and 4 speed gearbox, rather than buying one now to extensively modify. I would get it up and running, replace the tyres, flexible fuel and brake hoses, brake pads and shoes, flexible coolant hoses, and give it a good service including replacing oil and antifreeze, new brake fluid, drain the fuel tank, flush out the radiator and heater, new filters - oil, air and fuel, new rotor arm, distributor cap, condenser, plugs and leads, check coil OK, check fuses, clean all earths and electrical connections. Then MoT and use and enjoy. I would not over restore it, just as built and back up to running condition. If you change your mind, such a project car is always of interest… If you simply restore it it will always be saleable plus you won’t have sunk too much into it.2 points

Here for sale is my 2000 (W) Westfield Megabusa. I originally looked at moving the car on around this time last year but decided to keep it and fit a full windscreen instead. This was carried out through the guys down at the new Westfield factory (using all new parts at not insignificant expense), but I’ve found that I’m still not using the car as much as I’d like. I’ve just got to the point where I have to admit that the way I use a second car has now changed, and although I've loved it (a Megabusa was always the one for me!) and it's a lovely car, it just doesn't fit my lifestyle at the moment. The car has an interesting story as it was the press demonstrator for the factory during the year 2000, appearing on the “2 Wheels Better” program on Men and Motors, which included an interview with Chris Smith about the bike-engined revolution while he was sitting in the driver’s seat. This can still be seen on YouTube at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_DaCqTgiPM&list=PLW4hczp_CZb4DI1EE5zRzFqEvDmBtbpmq&index=1 Around the same time it also appeared in Car magazine’s Performance Car of the Year test against a Caterham R500 and Lotus 340R. It can also be seen in various Kit Car magazines from back in the day, as well as the "Westfield Story" book, copies of which I have collected over the last few years and will be sold on with the car. As you can imagine from its press car status, it was very highly spec’d from the factory, with the specification briefly comprising: Image 13” 2-piece light alloy wheels. Westfield Dry Sump System. Westfield Reverse Gearbox. Quick Release Steering Wheel. Carbon Fibre Nose Cone. Carbon Fibre Cycle Wings. Carbon Fibre Dashboard. Carbon Fibre Centre Console. Carbon Fibre Tunnel Top. Carbon Effect Stoneguards. Willans 4-Point Harnesses. Nitron Shockers. Front and Rear Anti-roll Bars. After it’s time with Westfield, the car was bought by a collector and stayed with him for 18 years or so, having very little use within that period. It was then put up for auction and bought by Castle Cars in Cornwall who had been tasked by one of their customers to source the very best example of a bike-engined Westfield that they could get their hands on. They then went through the car, recommissioning it, before their customer found that at 6’ 4” and 18-19 stone, they couldn’t fit in it! It was at that point in 2019 that I bought it, travelling down to Cornwall from Merseyside with a trailer to pick it up one Saturday. It’s my 3rd bike-engined Westfield having built a Megablade during 2000 and subsequently keeping it for 11 years, before then building a Megabird after that. When built, the car was fitted with a brand new Hayabusa engine from a donor bike (as was Westfield’s way at the time) and has covered very little mileage since (less than 2,000), which is reflected in its condition, with only minor wear and tear to the bodywork and interior despite being almost 25 years old. The car has recently been serviced, with new oil and filter, spark plugs and a set of coils. Last year the shockers were serviced and dyno-tested by Nitron down at the factory, and the adjusters on the rear shockers were renewed. I have all invoices and details of all the maintenance carried out while in my possession, including the invoices from Westfield for the windscreen upgrade. We've had some adventures, and it will be missed, but time for somebody else to enjoy it now. £12,950 ono. I’ve added some walk around videos on YouTube, which can be found here: Please call or WhatsApp on 07394 113927, or message through here. I also have some spares such as an RAC Rollbar, new rear stoneguards (still in the package, never fitted), the original carbon fibre Westfield aeroscreen and mirrors, and a replacement sump panel for the dry sump system (picked up as it was the last one "old" Westfield had in stock, and I bought it just in case). These can be had through separate negotiation.1 point

Thanks for that Julie, we should be able to create a nice itinerary from that. I'll try to keep a record of what we do and where we go. Ian, yes we will be in the Westy. We generally just have days out which is not really using the car enough. Last year we did the Lakes and will be doing a road trip each year.1 point

It’s probably easier just to purchase some 10mm ones but thanks for the offer.1 point

I've got some 20mm ones. If you know someone with a lathe they could take 10mm off the backs.1 point

What a beautiful day! Hopefully the weather gods are starting to play nicely! I met up with Ben, Steve, Vicky, Colin and Gavin at the A38/A50 services just after 9am for a chat a kick of the tyres. Rather than do the boring A38, I'd decided to take us down some of the brilliant South Derbyshire B roads. Sadly, everyone's grandmother in a Kia Picanto or Ford Ka seemed to conspire against any brisk progress 🤦♂️. At least it was warm and dry and the scenery was nice. We had plenty of friendly waves, hoots and headlight flashing from passes by as the convoy headed south through the villages, it's great to put a smile on people's faces! Landing at the Curburgring we found a nice GBS Zero to park next to and were then joined by Matt who lives locally and Quinten who'd driven up from Northamptonshire! Nick was also there in his Striker but he had already started on the bacon sandwiches... Tony, Hedley, Iain, Rachael and Ian had also joined us in their tintops. A shot of Quintens unique SEIGHT on its lovely steelies next to Matts Sport 250 with gold Minilites.... really brings home how no two Westfields are the same! Nick's lovely new Striker. It's so small I could wear it as a shoe! Chris also joined us in his "tintop"... Sadly Chris and his wife have recently sold their "his and hers" Westfields due to unforeseen circumstances, so have replaced them with this! What a stunning machine and it sounds glorious 😍 After a dose of caffeine and saturated fat along with a good chat we headed for the busy paddock. This annual meet is a real "seven" lovers paradise with so many lovely cars on display and being driven as they should be.... flat out! It's also the only Caterham Academy round that is free to watch so it would be rude not to come along. Really great to see everyone today, over a dozen members plus spouses and family members is an awesome turnout 👍 Oh, and good luck to @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO who is running in the Potters 'Arf Marathon tomorrow.... you must be mad my friend! 😂1 point
