We plead guilty your honour of getting out there and enjoying our cars together, it was a wonderful day out with friends driving our cars in convoy, love it! I chose the car museum to meet because here in Derbyshire it is half term and I thought it might be busy with excited kiddies wanting to see our cars. How wrong I was, the child count was nil, oh well, we had a tyre kick before heading inside for breakfast. The Great British Car Journey car park Jake proudly showed off his repaired front end, it was concluded that a hairline crack in the upright had caused the failure. Glynn prayed to the Westfield Gods for it not to be his turn this week, as Andrew had broken a wing stay Warming up inside the car museum cafe Next we went a run out, avoiding puddles, pot holes and keeping up high in the sunshine on our way to Chatsworth House and the Carriage House Cafe. The cafe is located in the 18th Century stable block, but first we needed to stretch the rules a little and grab a quick photo. The stable block is at the top of the photo and the house is behind us, we are not allowed to drive in front of the house so we settled with this. Lunch was taken in the stable courtyard Then birthday boy @AndrewBClarke had a cake buffet, eat your heart out @Andy Westwood @aeg beat that! Thank you for bringing your cars out and joining us on another great trip around the Peak District, see you next time xxxx5 points

Thanks Julie👍 Chilly and foggy to start but the sun was shining for lunch time!😃 Thanks for the cake feast Andy C! A few from the way into Chatsworth but not great quality I’m afraid! Wish you’d all turned left instead on the way home the “2 wheeled photographer” was on the next corner on the Chatsworth estate road but couldn’t get my glove off and pull over quick enough to call you!🤦🏻♂️ Probably going to cost me another £8!😂3 points

I have V5 showing it registered as a Westfield SE (see photo) I built this car during period 91-93, kept it a while then sold it then bought it back. 1.6 Ford Pinto with twin DCOE’s and from memory a Piper 285 cam. Rs2000 alloy sump so has slightly better ground clearance than a standard Pinto. 3.4.5.1 rear diff (form a Mexico I think). Has a cd player and 4 speakers built in. It’s hard wired to accept an Optimate IV trickle charger (included in sale) although the battery is brand new a couple of weeks ago I have all receipts form the original build and an itemised page for each major section containing part numbers etc (see photo for example) I have full build photo albums and original instruction manuals plus various Westfield related articles and the such like from the press of the day. I have new chrome headlight bowls for it. It’s based on Folkestone, Kent - (5 miles from the Channel Tunnel). I could potentially assist with a European trailered delivery subject to price and travel cost agreements. New MOT 28th Feb as although I think could get this MOT exempt I wanted an independent view on it so am happy it passed with only a minor adjustment needing to be made to the headlight alignment. Happy to address any questions - 07885 784115 £85002 points

Managed to do over hour ride - first time with doors attached Its for sure less cold inside than with Lexan side wind deflectors. Warm from heater is like "keept inside cockpit" , outside arm and shoulder not frozen . And a little easier to talk with passanger. But.. soo tight! lot of joy gone 😕 And dont know why ? - more exhaust fumes smell especialy in passanger side (exhaust is on driver side) , strange.2 points

I've been watching the MK guys for some time and have to say I'm very impressed by what they are doing these days. If I ever sell my Westfield I'd definitely consider an MK. May even go visit them for a nose around this year.1 point

Back when my dad and I built our first Westfield 24(!) years ago, we were originally looking at doing a Locost. We’d gathered the steel box section we needed, as well as some of the suspension items. I then saw an advert in CCC for the Westfield starter kit, we contacted them, went on a test drive and decided that the starter kit was a better way to go as despite the extra expense for the chassis, we would always have something that would be worth a lot more than any Locost we built. The factory really engaged with us (it was Holly, Richard and Simon mainly at the time), we were invited to open days and new model launches, and we really felt part of something. We collected the starter kit with a view to sourcing other parts ourselves, but ended up with the vast majority coming from Westfield anyway. Nevertheless, we at the time would never have been able to afford to go down the module or full kit route, and the low price of the starter kit pulled us in… they then went on to flog a total of 4 kits off the back of that as they had us in their fold… it was a mixture of the value (rather than the price) and the experience. I don’t see any of that from Westfield any more. The guys down at MK seem to have taken that “old” Westfield (and in “old” I mean the Smith family days) way of doing things and run with it. You only have to look at their engagement with social media. Westfield now seem to be lost in a wasteland between not being seen as a Caterham, and being too expensive compared to MK and others. I hope they find their way back.1 point
