Hello All ( back in England for a short stay and borrowing Marks PC and account) Mark has been updating me on all your exploits and the success that you have all had over the years, not just in the SS but in some major championships - just what the championship was started for to develop an interest in motorsport and its fantastic to see - just to wish everyone success and best wishes for the years ahead. I'll be back to jolly France shortly - have a great season - Tom & Cynthia6 points

Thank you all for the good wishes 👍 I’m not sure how much use my Westfield will get this year, we will be out here for the birth at the end of June, and on 16th April Margaret will be getting a new shoulder, that will be a full set for the Bionic Woman 😮 Meanwhile she is about to ditch the crutches and walk unaided this week, hope the weather holds up 😎😂3 points

Yes you will require a MSUK Race Licence for sprinting it is just a case of filling in the online form and paying the money! This link maybe helpful https://www.motorsportuk.org/get-started/types-of-motor-sport/sprint/ The Draft regulations for this years speed series have just been posted, within these is a list of the events2 points

I have V5 showing it registered as a Westfield SE (see photo) I built this car during period 91-93, kept it a while then sold it then bought it back. 1.6 Ford Pinto with twin DCOE’s and from memory a Piper 285 cam. Rs2000 alloy sump so has slightly better ground clearance than a standard Pinto. 3.4.5.1 rear diff (form a Mexico I think). Has a cd player and 4 speakers built in. It’s hard wired to accept an Optimate IV trickle charger (included in sale) although the battery is brand new a couple of weeks ago I have all receipts form the original build and an itemised page for each major section containing part numbers etc (see photo for example) I have full build photo albums and original instruction manuals plus various Westfield related articles and the such like from the press of the day. I have new chrome headlight bowls for it. It’s based on Folkestone, Kent - (5 miles from the Channel Tunnel). I could potentially assist with a European trailered delivery subject to price and travel cost agreements. New MOT 28th Feb as although I think could get this MOT exempt I wanted an independent view on it so am happy it passed with only a minor adjustment needing to be made to the headlight alignment. The other thing to say is just ask questions here, loads of experience and help available. See if there are any Speed Series members in your local club chat to them. But also try and go to your first event knowing some of the Speed Series competitors who will be there and can help.1 point

It's great fun and very addictive, You will need an RS Inter Club Licence from Motorsport UK, you don't need to take any kind of test, just apply for one, then some minor additions to your car like a front Timing strut. Enter the Championship and then an event and away you go. We do have a guide, which is a bit out of date, but still relevant. See here https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/142023-new-beginners-guide-out-of-date/ One of the SSOT ( Speed Series Organising Teams jobs this year is to update it.1 point

Hi Steve The Speed Series is a Championship for the WSCC which helps members get into Sprints & Hillclimbs. These are competitive timed runs under Motorsport UK rules at events all over the country run by Motorsport Clubs. Sprints are at Circuits / generally flat tracks, Hillclimbs are as they say driving up a Hill as fast as you can. So if you have done some track days but want to see how good you really are the this a great way to start in Motorsport. If some Speed Series members have got some videos to show a run that would be really helpful.1 point

Thank you Tom. It's had more reach than you might have imagined. It's now a generational thing. The Speed Series got me into motorsport which in turn fostered my son Alex's interest as he grew up around the paddock. He's a quicker driver than me but won't be competing this year as he's now working for INRacing and will likely be spending much of the summer around Europe and the UK circuits spannering and helping out the Historic Classic racing team.1 point
