Another cracking evening last night! Sadly due to work, my Westfield has stayed at hom but thankfully new member @Matt Lawrence had braved the cold in his lovely Racing Green Sport 250. Matt actually lives quite close to the Warwickshire area too so it was great that @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO had come along to chat about their regular meets and the brilliant Curborough track day events. Really great to Matt, hope you enjoyed the evening and we see you on a meet again soon! We had a great turnout as always Of course, we just had to get a photo of the Area Championship Speed Series trophy that the Derby & Notts area had won for the 2023 season. This award had been proudly received by Dave Cleaver, Howard Gaskin and Alex Gaskin at the Awards night on Saturday, a fantastic achievement! Well done guys! 👏👏 Anyone know who this imposter is pretending to be a racing driver!? 😂 @Malcolm Cousins had also come along to have a chat about his 99% complete build. He is almost there now but has some fuel pump issues that he has posted on the forum. Hope you get sorted soon and if you need any hands on help just shout up, we are all looking forward to seeing it on the road. Other members after help and advice were Rachael and Iain in relation to their Luego. They have been hankering after a power upgrade so, after evaluating options, they will be swapping their 1.6 pinto for a 2.0 pinto on twin webers in the coming weeks. Obviously they will have a number of us to help with engine hoists, tools and extra pairs of hands which is all part of what makes our Club so amazing 👍 Great to see everyone as always, see you on the next one!3 points

Aye, thought I'd go see what it was about whilst I had the chance. Looks like it'd be a good family spot in fair weather, too. The surprisingly massive surfaced car park was not something I expected. No wonder they advertise willingness to host car meets.3 points

There were when I started sprinting, but numbers tailed off as road going regs favoured more track specific cars and tyres. I think I was the last competitor driving to sprints (a windscreen and hood helped), and I hired/borrowed trailer for some. It's definitely an extra challenge knowing an 'incident' could have an impact on getting home! But very rewarding.2 points

So they have loads of ducks? I like ducks! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Looks like a great spot high on the hills, beautifully bleak!2 points

You don’t ‘need’ a trailer, yes it makes life a lot easier, but back in the day there were plenty of folks who drove to events in their Westfields!2 points

Won a raffle prize at this year’s awards dinner, a baseball cap with the new WSCC / Union Flag mixed logo, and an umbrella, which arrived safely this morning! While I was obviously pleased to win these prizes, I already have more umbrellas than I know what to do with, I figured it might just become a prize at my local area meet. However, when I opened it up, to my delight it turned out to be a rectangular one, perfect for covering the cockpit when parked during unexpected showers or for two people - nice! 😎👍 So a big thanks to @Nigel Trilk - Westfield Sportcars Ltd for my prizes and for sending them so quickly! Now I need to figure out a way to secure it to the handbrake lever so none of my fellow club members nicks it when my back is turned! 😬2 points

NB. NO MEET AT THE FALCON THIS MONTH! As discussed at our Christmas meal, I thought we would do something different from our regular pub meet in these winter months. Therefore I have organised a slot car racing event for our February get together. The venue is Daventry Miniature Raceway NN11 6BG. Have a look at the website for an overview of the facilities https://www.dmracecars.co.uk/ There will be a competition on the six lane track, with trophies up for grabs! In addition to the main track there are other items such as a rally stage event and drag racing too! Proposed meet time is 7.30pm to start at 8pm, finish around 10pm. There is a licenced bar with tea/coffee and snacks available to purchase. The cost of the event will be £15 per person. I need to confirm numbers for the event one week before ie 8th Feb. Let me know ASAP please.1 point

Oh poo, not looking great but I may brave it anyway. I do have a half hood, half doors and wind deflectors so it is quite well protected. Would be great to meet up with Bristol area cars, so stay in touch and we will see what we can do when the weather improves.1 point

Met Office is even worse. I'll keep an eye on it but I have to be honest and say it's starting to look unlikely I will be able to get there now. Not just the weather but I got a buyer for another kit I own yesterday so I'm swapping garages so I can work at home this weekend on the one being sold. Has to be done tomorrow as it's the only time I'll have help to unload it and swap them over. Good luck with the wet stuff if you do go. Do you have weather gear? I'm sure we can meet up this year though, soon as decent weather arrives. Maybe we can find a venue where are you guys and all us lot from up here could rendezvous for a coffee etc? I'm sure @Chris Broster - Bristol & Bath AO would be up for that? There's a place in the Mendips not far from Cheddar Gorge called The Castle of Comfort (great name) I've never used it but bikers meet there so must be half decent. That might be worth a look. Huge car park! Or maybe somewhere south of the Mendips if you know of anywhere? Plenty of time to arrange anyway. Get loads of cars there, a joint manoeuvre, great picture and story opportunity for the Westfield World magazine!1 point

Only because of where Iam based right in the corner of the south east near Dover. I don’t mind driving it but a trailer would be easier1 point

I was begining to think you'd moved the meet to @HB46443's bedroom 😉 Have a great night folks and see if you can get more Westies there than last month!1 point

I've got 3 shows in the pipeline at the moment. Harrogate, 11th May, Thornes Park, Wakefield, 5th July, Walton, Wakefield, 14th July. Nothing booked in at the moment but I'll be getting details later. Put the dates in your diaries, phone, back of a cornflakes box or wherever you keep your important information.1 point
