  1. We met at Quackers cafe car park, Bagpuss had a white nose cone because the pink one is off for 😮 cosmetic repair, Dan bought his other car out which was only a TVR with a 5 litre Rover V8 engine👍, Jake in his lovely Tiger 🤩, Steve and Vikki had purchased their old Westfield back much to our delight because it was such a great car 👍and Billy quietly 😁 appeared in his Tesla. We went into the cafe for a warm and breakfast We set off down the access road out of Quackers, so not at speed, and Jake's car let go, bang, spin and into a fence post. It was shocking, on the public road it could have been a very nasty accident and all our sympathies go out to Jake. One of the bolts on the upright had sheared. Once Jake had arranged recovery and we thought that he was as ok as he could be after such an event, we carried on with our day, poor @Jakejmagee, we feel for you and if you need any help/advice then us/here/this forum is the place to ask for it. We took a good run out on a mixture of high ground with great views and some good driving roads, landing us right back at Bakewell and at Thornbridge Brewery where we went into The Tap Room. Car park at Thornbridge Brewery The beer flowed, some of it real stuff and some of it, myself included on Zero Five which is 0.5% strength, although it was ok, it just isn't the same and I would have a Jaipur Indian Pale Ale over it anyday. Cheers! The pizza is freshly made and you could tell, it was excellent. @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO not content with having Peak District hills and chocolate named after him, he also has his own beer, look at this 8.4% too! Mad, the man himself The driving, company and venues have all been excellent but we felt for Jake and we wish him well.

  3. Yes, I know it's 5 months away, but I'll get this in now so everyone has plenty of notice! Normally, the Yorkshire midsummer Run to the Sun takes us over to the east coast but this year we will be heading north on Saturday 22nd June. As the Long way North run is on the same weekend, we will meet up with everyone at Scotch Corner and grab something to eat there. The route and times have yet to be arranged, but we will be avoiding the A1 as much as possible. Let's hope that we can get a good number of cars on the day.

  5. No Westfields in this photo for a change as it is of last nights Speed Series awards night. A great evening with great food and brilliant company. Some amazing driving talent in the room (except for me! 😂). A huge well done to all the award winners 🏆 👏

  6. Early finish from work, roads were all dry and sun still in the sky. Chilly but lots of time for a fun short blast.

  9. yes, you were missed it’s not unusual to use helicoils in aluminium to enable the course helicoil outer to give a steel bolt a good strong fastening. Hispec do similar on their uprights. it’s had us all scratching our heads as he’s not hit anything and wasn’t putting any steering load in at the time of failure etc

  10. Sorry I missed it, didn't get back until midnight from the Speed Series awards night! Been chatting with @Jakejmagee and offered the collective help. Looks to me that the previous owner has had an issue with that upright previously as both bolts have been helicoiled....

  13. Bespoke driving footwear anyone? My wife crocheted these over the winter period, guess she took pity on me not getting out for a blast and just tinkering in the garage.

  15. Hood and heater? Luxury. When we were kids we had to sit in t'engine bay to keep warm. Remember the old Monty Python sketch? 😁

  17. Jake has sent me this photo and it looks like the upright has failed. Your opinions are welcome.
