  1. Bespoke driving footwear anyone? My wife crocheted these over the winter period, guess she took pity on me not getting out for a blast and just tinkering in the garage.

  2. I won't be joining in with the run, but as it's on the same weekend as the Yorkshire "Run to the Sun" I thought it would be too good an opportunity to head north instead of the east coast and meet up at Scotch Corner on Saturday evening. I'll work out a route and times so we can grab something to eat with you all there. I'll also make a separate thread for my run.

  3. Back to school for me, finally sorting my tools out on a couple of ‘shadow boards’ 🤣. They are a motley assortment, collected over the years and not all in very good condition but at least I know where they are, and what I have now so can build from here. One board more woodworking for home DIY and the other for the car and other mechanical stuff. Work bench is fully operational now so I can actually get on with doing things now. I finally managed to get the car sorted and started at the weekend so perhaps a first trip out for the year is not far off. Not sure I dare brave a Cullompton trip on Wednesday, depends on the weather. EDIT Added a couple of pics of the bench now it’s finished. Nice to have a sorted place to work now. The Avon Tyres sign was tucked away in the garage when we moved in. My old man worked for them years ago when I was small, so it needed to go up 👍

  4. Hi there Julie I’m going to try and make it tomorrow and see you. We’ve been very busy with moving and still have a lot to do. So fingers crossed I’ll be there.

  5. The WSCC account for booking tickets is 9341. This entitles you to a 50% discount, the 3 day package is good value. Also allows you to display your car on the Wirral and North Wales stand. Fab event, don't miss this one.

  7. I emailed Nigel with a link to this thread yesterday, just to draw his attention to the issues members were having, I got a reply back overnight, but my apologies, this is the first chance I've had to come on-line with an update. Nigel has asked me to post directly the following: Obviously, from the more recent messages, we can see this has already taken affect, re callers getting responses. More generally, Nigel did discus the service level issue, and understand the frustration that has resulted. They are taking steps to improve this, and will be putting out another message to the Club in due course.

  8. 13 x 6 on the front with 185/60/13 and 13 x 7 rears with 205/60/13 Not sure on the offset as I got them from a friend and then had them powder coated satin bronze. Ive fitted 16mm spacers on the rear with longer studs but may go down to 12mm to avoid scrubbing. And 5mm spacers on the front to centre the wheel in the cycle wing.

  9. Wheels look ace Chris. What width, offset and tyre size are you running?

  10. Roll on Sunday, I'm off out! Cloudy, sunny intervals, dry, 11° I hope!

  11. Early finish from work, roads were all dry and sun still in the sky. Chilly but lots of time for a fun short blast.

  12. The Westfield presence at the Gold Cup is organised by the local area, Wirral and North Wales. This year it's being opened up to the wider areas. Unfortunately there are no local hostelries that we know of, or can recommend, as most members are local and commute daily. Easy for us. Google is your friend, good luck. It will be worth it, a truly fab event.

  13. I’ve had my first few goes with this monster, and even in fairly average conditions it is pretty awesome! This is a crappy iPhone shot through the eyepiece and it shows a huge prominence erupting from the solar surface. These are loops of plasma which arc along magnetic flux lines between sunspots. They can easily be multiple times larger than the earth, five to ten times the diameter, huge structures. The broad dark line across the surface is called a filament; this is basically a prominence but viewed against the hot, bright surface they are cooler, and appear darker. They move at hundreds of thousands of miles an hour, and sometimes you can see them change in real time; this happened to me at the weekend, I watched a prominence arcing over then dropping little plasma bombs back to the surface. Quite amazing to see.
