The sensor is working, at least at the sensor end, so it has power and ground. (it's less than a mm from it's targets and the internal LED is correctly triggering, to say it's reading the bolt heads. The precise distance may/may not need tweaking, but for the moment, the fault is elsewhere.) Unfortunately, the next steps do need the software and a laptop, to connect to the dash, so that the dash config can be checked, and also to check that the dash is receiving the signal from the sensor. The software can be downloaded here: Race Studio 3 x64 download (note, you'll need a 64 bit laptop, so not something too ancient!!) You will also need a USB lead, with the right form of connection for your laptop - typically a type A or C plug, and mini B at the AiM dash end. I've seen some of the Sport 250's with weird and wonderful wheel trigger settings on the dash, some of them even ex-factory.4 points

I fully understand your concerns, I felt the same initially when I built mine, but concluded only option was to have a go! Respectfully suggest you give it a go, or failing that try and find somebody in your neck of the woods who can help (I find the grandchildren a great help with all things computersI). You can connect laptop to dash via a loose cable which hopefully came with your car. If not sure one can be purchased. If you brave it and install Race Studio on a laptop, you can “play” to your hearts content without connecting to the dash in your car. Not sure, but would think you could also connect to your dash and “suck” a copy of the config file currently installed on your dash onto Race Studio on your laptop. You’re the opposite end of the country to me and I’m no expert, but happy to try and help remotely if I can. Aim manual may be of assistance https://www.aimtechnologies.com/support/docs/MX1.2_Strada_Series_user_guide_100_eng.pdf There are also some videos on the Aim website that may help. Best of luck.3 points

I'm booked. Gonna stay somewhere near Edale Friday night. I'll be solo so whether I do the Sunday leg is dependent on me finding someone to fraternise with Sunday eve and drive at least part of the way back with on the Monday. Billy no Westfield mates......2 points

Hi David. Many thanks for your input. As the car goes and stops, I think I’ll defer touching the dash programming, until I find someone who is hands on with these things and who can show me how to sort it. Gives me an excuse to take the car somewhere too!2 points

Hello! Another Sport 250 owner here. If the speed sensor is correctly positioned and seems to be working, suspect it's the dash which isn't configured correctly. Happy to help you try and get it sorted - downloading Race Studio is the first step. If you can then plug into the dash, download the configuration to racestudio, and take some screenshots to show us, we can have a look. I realise that it's pretty intimidating, but it's not as scary as it sounds!2 points

There is a very good app for Macs called 'CleanMyMac' available in the app store. I would never bother with any other virus software on a Mac. I've used it on all of mine for the last 10 years or so.2 points

I'm presenting the above talk to my local motor group shortly, and wondered if any club members would be interested in joining a teams call one evening for me to deliver the same talk to this great club too? The topic is last year's trip to the Alps and Italy with @Greenstreak-Andy D @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman @Stu Faulkner and I. It will cover the planning, preparation and execution of a 12 day road trip across Europe including: Ferry Crossings Car Train from Germany to Austria Austrian Passes Escape to Italy over the Stelvio Pass Pagani & Ferrari Museums Reply below and if sufficient interest, we can arrange. A PC with speaker or headset will be required. I'll collect e-mail address and send out MS Teams invites, one we decide it's going ahead. It's likely to be on a Mon/Tue/Wed evening in February. Likely start time of 7pm (UK time- for our overseas members)1 point

Did this back in 2008, great weekend! Not wishing to interfere but back then the Holiday Inn cordoned off part of the car park around the back where with careful parking side by side and a row of cars parked nose to tail across the others we made the parking as secure as possible. Could be worth looking into. With luck we can also join you…..1 point

@Stuart Thanks for questions please see below ; What time will you leave Edale Meet at Edale 9am for approx departure 9:30am. I presume 2nd day is Darlington to Berwick. What happens then - is a drive back south planned or is it just everyone to their own devices? Yes 2nd day is Darlington (Scotch Corner) to Berwick Upon Tweed, after which we are all free to do whatever we wish. Is there any chance of the route being made available as a .gpx so solo drivers could use a satnav? Yes I am looking at plotting the route to be available in .gpx .itn etc, these will be for reference if anyone gets lost or as you say for solo drivers, although the idea of the tour is to use the roadmap as a 'mystery tour' guidance. To expand on the above and from the experience of the original tour everybody can meet at the start point for a tyre kick and chin wag, then you are free to set off when you want, with who you want (we don't want a massive single convoy so to speak) some people will go on their own and some people in small groups - its up to you. You may bump into others (not literally!) on the way, at petrol stations etc then hopefully all rendezvous at the Hotel stop. With this same format repeating on Sunday. Members who are travelling South on day two may wish to cut that leg short if they so wish 👍1 point
