  1. Dear Members, The Club invites you to join the 2024 TLWN2 tour which is a 2-day weekend event covering 330 miles of the best driving roads in the UK 😎 The Club successfully ran The Long Way North Tour back in 2008 so we thought it was about time for a re run! Based on the route of the Pennine Way, our tour takes in some spectacular scenery and some of the UK's best driving roads as we make our way north from Edale, Derbyshire to Berwick-Upon-Tweed in the Scottish borders. The route will cover: 150 miles on Saturday 22nd June (meet at 9am set off 9:30am approx) from Rushup Edge car park at the top of Winnats Pass near Castleton to Scotch Corner. and 180 miles on Sunday 23rd June, travelling from Scotch Corner (set off from Hotel at approx 9am) to Berwick-Upon-Tweed. The Club will provide a comprehensive roadbook for this event as well as promotional clothing and stickers. The roadbook is a very detailed explanation of the route. It uses a combination of tulip diagrams, road signs and descriptions of the road ahead and also includes fuel stop locations. The roadbook is guidance only and further instructions on navigation will be included within the roadbook to be issued closer to the event. Ideally you need a driver and passenger to help navigate the route along the way. Here is an example of what you will receive: Another example to demonstrate its not all cattle grids! Saturday evening (22nd June 2024) will be a social stay over at Holiday Inn Darlington A1 Scotch Corner. Guests are free to use the Active Life Leisure Centre, with its swimming pool, fitness centre and hot tub. A range of beauty therapies are also available. The Club has secured 20 discounted rooms (see current allocation below) to suit our preferred booking options as per details and costs below, please note bedrooms are non refundable after 30 days prior to arrival. The room rates include breakfast and should the guests require dinner, this will be a £30 supplement to the bed & breakfast rate as below: · £120 per Double bedroom, based on 2 guests sharing · £140 per Twin bedroom, based on 2 guests sharing · £110 per Single bedroom, for Sole Occupancy · £30 dinner supplement, per person to include 3 courses. If you are interested and want to participate in this event you must book your own accommodation direct with the hotel - please phone the hotel Reservations Charlotte Gregory Emma Hughes Reservations Manager Tel: (direct) 01748 828612 (working hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30-16.30) or email reservations@hidarlington.co.uk and state you are with the Westfield Sports Car Club Group booking on Saturday 22nd June 2024 to ensure you get the discount rate. Charlotte has advised your card details are noted but payment is not taken until 30 days prior (unless to wish to pay on booking). Once you have booked your accommodation please let @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator know so the club can keep a tally on numbers attending. Hotel bookings are on a first come first served basis although we do have options to increase the number of allocated rooms if required. The start point is Rushup Edge car park at the top of Winnats Pass near Castleton. The nearest 24 hour petrol station for folks to fill up and have a toilet break before hand is Texaco Hope valley S33 0EB and there is also a Morrisons in Chapel-en-Le-Frith SK23 0HZ. Please note this is a non-competitive event! Thank you and hope we have a good turn out and decent weather 😎 WSCC - event team Confirmed tour club members with hotel booking for Saturday evening (22nd June 2024): 1) @Stuart 2) @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative +1 3) @DomWash 4) @Andy Westwood +1 5) @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator +1 6) @aeg +1 7) @Glynn Walters 8 ) @ianali +1 9) @Steve Bosworth +1 10) @neptune 11) @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman 12) @W Shep +1 13) @Jim cunliffe +1 14) @tex (No hotel as lives local - with garage, lifter and mig welder!) 15) @Markh80 (Sunday only) 16) @Insuranceman +1 (Sunday only) 17) @Tim.Coles +1 18) @MGG (Sunday only) 19) TBC 20) TBC

  2. @Stuart Thanks for questions please see below ; What time will you leave Edale Meet at Edale 9am for approx departure 9:30am. I presume 2nd day is Darlington to Berwick. What happens then - is a drive back south planned or is it just everyone to their own devices? Yes 2nd day is Darlington (Scotch Corner) to Berwick Upon Tweed, after which we are all free to do whatever we wish. Is there any chance of the route being made available as a .gpx so solo drivers could use a satnav? Yes I am looking at plotting the route to be available in .gpx .itn etc, these will be for reference if anyone gets lost or as you say for solo drivers, although the idea of the tour is to use the roadmap as a 'mystery tour' guidance. To expand on the above and from the experience of the original tour everybody can meet at the start point for a tyre kick and chin wag, then you are free to set off when you want, with who you want (we don't want a massive single convoy so to speak) some people will go on their own and some people in small groups - its up to you. You may bump into others (not literally!) on the way, at petrol stations etc then hopefully all rendezvous at the Hotel stop. With this same format repeating on Sunday. Members who are travelling South on day two may wish to cut that leg short if they so wish 👍

  3. Little bit of news with a new meet up location not far from the Surrey borders: Meon Hut to be Caffeine and Machine latest venue Is on the junction of some lovely blatting roads, although it's surrounded by average speed cameras which also have noise sensors. Is 10 minutes from my house so I'll need to work out some new scenic routes there. Area is very popular with bikers as there's Loomie's cafe the other side of the junction. There's also a BP garage on the junction as well.

  4. I fully understand your concerns, I felt the same initially when I built mine, but concluded only option was to have a go! Respectfully suggest you give it a go, or failing that try and find somebody in your neck of the woods who can help (I find the grandchildren a great help with all things computersI). You can connect laptop to dash via a loose cable which hopefully came with your car. If not sure one can be purchased. If you brave it and install Race Studio on a laptop, you can “play” to your hearts content without connecting to the dash in your car. Not sure, but would think you could also connect to your dash and “suck” a copy of the config file currently installed on your dash onto Race Studio on your laptop. You’re the opposite end of the country to me and I’m no expert, but happy to try and help remotely if I can. Aim manual may be of assistance https://www.aimtechnologies.com/support/docs/MX1.2_Strada_Series_user_guide_100_eng.pdf There are also some videos on the Aim website that may help. Best of luck.

  7. Don’t run anything! Doesn’t look like a genuine Apple system alert. Research required…

  9. @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator could I ask a couple of questions please. What time will you leave Edale cos it's a 2.5hr+ drive there for me from Worcestershire? I presume 2nd day is Darlington to Berwick. What happens then - is a drive back south planned or is it just everyone to their own devices? Is there any chance of the route being made available as a .gpx so solo drivers could use a satnav? Thanks, Stuart

  10. Brilliant plan and wish you all the best. Unfortunately logistically not possible for me. It would involve two additional nights accommodation (one at the beginning and one at the end) and still leave me with a drive home of over 4 hours.

  11. I have one I bought for my car but never used it if you fancy a drive over to stockport

  12. Welcome to a fellow 250 owner, hope you get as much enjoyment from owning one as I have. As others have said check speed sensor on front offside wheel. Shout if you’re unsure where/what this is. From memory mine is set ~ 1.5mm clearance to disc bolt heads, but do spin the wheel to make sure it clears all 4 bolts! The Aim Strada dash can be configured in various ways by downloading Aim “Race Studio3” software, if you haven’t already done so :(https://www.aim-sportline.com/en/sw-fw-download.htm) onto a PC/laptop. It is fairly intuitive to use once you get the hang of it (albeit I found it daunting at first but I’m an old dinosaur who struggles with computer tech!) Would happily send you my “configuration file” for the dash, but suspect your dash will be an updated version. Tried several times to export mine onto updated versions, with no joy but happy to send it on if it would help?

  13. Many thanks @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO. I will have a wiggle all the accessible connectors and dash plug etc. when I can and then may start a topic if still no joy/inspiration from other sources.

  14. Same issue for me omn my Race Technology Dash2. Proximity of the wheels speed sensor to the bolt heds it senses looks OK, so I'll be following this thread with interest to see if anything not specific to the dash is suggested.

  15. I'd say the sensor on the upright has moved But there is a big nasty loophole in the aim software in which you can switch the recorded mileage off which i told Aim and Westfield about because its an instant iva fail and you shouldnt beable to do it but Aim and Westfield were not bothered in the slightest when i told them about it Give me a set of stack gauges anyday

  16. Welcome from South Derbyshire! The speed/mileage is probably something simple (speed sensor needs adjustment or a dodgy electrical connection) but the tech gurus on here will soon help you 👍

  18. May I suggest Japan, drive on the left just like home. Stunning scenery and so different travelling from Hokaido to the balmy south.

  19. The sensor is <1mm from the bolt heads on the front wheel hub and illuminates once a bolt head is passing it.
