Replacing a set of V6 Bluetooth intercom units I stumbled across these. They pair with the old ones but can also support up to 4 person comms simultaneously. They are also plug and play with the V6 hardware if you already use them. Currently on Amazon with 50% off plus another 10% off you can grab a pair for £54 with prime or a bit more with the postage. To be honest, I researched it loads after the lithium battery horror stories (I have RC cars with Li-Po's that are like hand grenades 😂) but the new ferrous phosphate ones are much more stable. I've had the PS12 version on the car since Feb 2021 and it hasn't missed a beat. I've had a dead battery twice in that time (down to me leaving ignition on or something plugged into the 12v socket). Amazingly, 10-15mins with the JWM charger and the car bursts into life. I've got no bad things to say, its been 100% reliable and the 6kg saving over the Banner 53034 means I can have more cakes, bonus! 😂2 points

Bit embarrassing this one. Whilst waiting for the new Westfield to come out and weighing up options I've bought an MK Indy that needed some TLC. Interesting comparing it to a Westfield.....🙂2 points

I've not heard anything bad either, they weren't that well known when I fitted mine but know battery technology reasonably well with 35 years of running RC cars, planes, helicopters etc. Mine has been on for 3 years and 10,000 miles of fast road and track with no problems. The old 53034 would need charging regularly as did the varley red top I had in my previous car1 point

Thanks Rob. I have to say that not all lithium batteries seem to be created equal and the Jack Webb ones do seem to have an excellent reputation. This comes from the JW website..... 'Safe: Unlike other lithium batteries, JWM batteries are internally inert, do no run warm and do not leak as they contain no liquids. You can even install them upside down! JWM batteries are equipped with internal electronic management to protect against overcharging, over-discharging and short circuit - as required to become a MSUK Registered supplier. JWM batteries are supplied with a 1 year return to base warranty (excludes Misuse)' I haven't heard of any issues with fire etc.1 point

Renewed for another year with Howden this afternoon. Thanks to Kasia for the excellent service, and for answering my (many) questions. Price did go up from last year but I was expecting that due to a few more points collected, and I did get the 5-trackday bundle! Roll on the sunshine.1 point

Hi @Davemk1 I built my S2000 with a small denso type Alternator in 2016 and I've covered circa 32,000 miles since then. It's not been plain sailing, but I'd still recommend you doing the same. Details in my build thread here- Bagpuss build thread If I was to do it again, I'd do the same again. As a fellow S2000 user, regular visits to the 9000rpm redline are made by me. I chose the alternator pulley size to ensure the alternator doesn't seen north of 18000 rpm. Charging at the 1100 rpm idle isn't a problem. My first alternator was a e-bay special and didn't last too long (the charge warning light started to flicker above 5000 rpm) I replaced this with Denso branded item from GBS Cars and that's been fine ever since. I did have a concern last spring with a noise sometimes, so I took it off and took it to an alternator specialist and they confirmed the bearings to be fine and tested it electrical as fine too (free of charge as well). I then used a laser light to align the pulley correcly with the 4 groove belt to the crank pulley and it's been quiet every since. From my build thread, you'll see there has been some 'evolution' of brakets and tests of different types of tensioners. My current large alloy bottom bracket and upper steel bracket have been fine. Though I did have the bottom alternator hole bushed so it didn't rock on the bolt. The two bolt fixing syem isn't ideal. I'd prefer 3. Given you do much lower mileage than me, I'm sure you'll be fine. Drop me a PM if you wish to have a call and talk any of this through. Best regards, Ian1 point

Thank you @Mark (smokey mow) In the past I joined the ACO to get early doors on the tickets and ordered them directly over the phone. Not sure if that option is still available 10 years on...
