  1. Christmas presents...first a Westfield gear knob and SBfor7s tunnel tidy. Chrome was peeling off the original knob (non-Westfield) so it needed changing before I got cut... and I know the carpet needs replacing... it's on the ever lengthening list. Secondly more of a portrait than a snap. My wife commissioned this for me. The E36 is my other money pit. The Capri isn't mine but does live here....

  2. The Speed Committee wish to give early advice as to the thinking of the 2024 championship and detailed regs will be published later. Looking at the numbers year on year scoring in the WSCC speed series it is obvious that it needs to change for 2024 and beyond or risk dropping to such low numbers that it won't be worth running. Looking at the previous championships that have been run and talking to people that have competed in them a couple of key things have emerged which are worth changing. We currently run our own classes which is fine if the championship has a lot of numbers at one stage it was up to 120, we aren't there now and we are down at something like 25 Westfield's competing for 2023. So with regard to classes and looking at the venues that we go to during the year as a championship the speed series organising team consider it is sensible to change our classes to match the classes at the events that we are running at, to that end we're going to adopt the Northern and Midland speed series classes as shown below. One of the biggest advantages of doing this is that it allows our Championship scores to consider all other (None WSCC) competitors in the class for scoring purposes. So, if you come 1st in the class, you will score more than another WSCC competitor who whilst fastest WSCC competitor, only came 3rd in the class. North & Midlands Speed Classes 2024 Road Cars - Specialist Production: (S12) 2A: Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars up to and including 1800cc (car derived engines) 2B: Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars over 1800cc (car derived engines) 2C: Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars (motorcycle derived engines) Modified Cars - Specialist Production (S13) 3F: Modified Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars up to and including1800cc (car derived engines) 3G: Modified Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars over 1800cc (car derived engines) 3H: Modified Kit, Replica & Spaceframed Cars (motorcycle derived engines) We have also taken on board the complexity of the current scoring which can be confusing not only existing competitors but also people that might look to enter the speed series. When the series was created back in 1998 it ran with a simple scoring system where first past the post got us a set number of points it was 17 back then then second was 16 carrying on down, the advantage of this type of system is that it's relatively simple to understand the points that you have just scored at an event, and also to understand where you stand in the whole of the championship quite quickly. So, we're going to go back to a simple scoring system where you get a maximum score of 10 points if you are first in your class then on down at one point at a time. We hope this will mean that people will be able to understand the scoring system and more importantly understand exactly how many points they have achieved at any event that they go to. For the Overall Championship your total score from your best 8 rounds will count. For Mini Sprint series your best total score from 5 rounds of 6 events will count. Enclosed for background are the North & Midland Classes and how they got to where they are. Classes & Clarifications Background.pdf Northern & MIdland Classes 2024.pdf

  7. C20XE ported, big valve head. GM casting – mid-term production (no mounts for the coil pack). +1mm waisted stainless inlet valves and +1.1mm waisted stainless exhaust valves. Bronze guides. Work completed by CTM Performance Heads. 42cc chambers with plenty of meat left on the head for a couple more skims if required in the future. Distributor mount has been removed so you would need a short exhaust cam for it. Most performance cams are short these days. I had this head done for my spare engine, it’s been assembled onto the block but hasn’t been run. No springs, caps or platforms are included. Bargain at £450 plus postage but collection would be preferred.

  9. We met at Quacker's cafe car park but sadly were turned away as the pipes were frozen, so the coffee pot was empty. Here we are parked at Quacker's. Not a problem, back in the cars and off to Hassop Station cafe on the Monsal Trail, here we are parked next to the outside seating. As it didn't look like the seats were going to defrost anytime soon we decided to sit indoors. Glynn photographed great as he tucked in to his festive breakfast, a Chronut! ChristmasDoughnut, filled with custard I might add! (not his first doughnut of the day😉😁) Next we went a run and didn't it just look amazing, Higger Tor, Stanage Edge, the Hope Valley all looked great in the winter sunshine with the dusting of ice. Our route took us over Surprise View and on to the Ladybower Dam, we turned at the bottom of the Snake Pass, which was closed to vehicles over 7.5t, so I guess the conditions were bad up there. We came back through Bradwell, past Monsal Head and down into Ashford, arriving at The Crispin, Great Longstone, where Andrew and Clare welcomed us to their Christmas party. The views made it all worthwhile and the electric clothing lowered the pain level a notch or two. Here we are parked at The Crispin The afternoon was spent at the party, which is documented elsewhere and the drive home in the dark was the warmest part of the day. A fantastic day out, thank you to my understanding husband, Glen and the two Winter Warriors @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman and @Glynn Walters for coming out in such challenging conditions, much respect to you x Some more pics of Quackers cafe car park
