  1. A tremendous day out, we love the Santa Run, it's like nothing else, laughing all day.....well folks who see us are laughing at us, what a sight!! Met at McDonalds. Trevor and Kirsty came to see us as did Richard and Casey. Jake came as far as Bakewell and the poor lad had to go to a Christmas doo. That left Lee and wife, Glynn, Glynn, Andrew, Ian and us in our 6 car convoy through the beautiful, sunshiny Peak District to Quacker's cafe Thanks everyone for joining us today I hope you have all enjoyed it too, and what weather!!

  4. Thanks all, Great advice as always. I am 6.2" and would probably find those STs too tall but they do look lovely. I find my standard seats very comfortable it's just they are blue with yellow piping. Plain black would be better. Thinking of recovering by a trimmer. Russell

  6. Bought a used 20 plate Skoda Octavia from a main stealer back in August, when my 05 plate Volvo S60 D5 was consigned to history after a long and glorious run. Very good price, below Parker guide price, FSH, 23k miles, like new. Very pleased with the car. Before I picked it up, they did all the software / firmware updates that were due. Shortly afterwards, when driving with the active cruise control on, it flat refused to overtake other vehicles at any speed. Lean out to overtake, zero acceleration unless I overrode it manually. Back to the dealer, can’t find anything wrong sir… Neighbour has an Audi A3 and an OBD11 device. He plugged it into the Skoda’s OBD2 port and it communicated with his smartphone. Few minutes later and he found the problem - the software update was from VAG and the default for the active cruise control is to prevent overtaking on the right, where it’s illegal in Germany. Quick swipe to disable the restriction and problem cured. It’s faintly ridiculous that my neighbour, a local GP, knows more about it with a £50 device and his smartphone then a main stealer does.

  8. Russell, I recently recoloured the leather pads on my JK Composites seats from green to black. The kit I purchased from The Scratch Doctor was very easy to use and I was really pleased with the results. Might be an alternative option to sourcing new seats. Al

  9. Most, (obvs. there will always be exceptions, it's why it's important to try before buying), find the Sport Turbo seats really comfortable. Done multiple European and UK tours with them now, where you're all day in the seat and many hundreds of miles, as well as shorter bursts on very hard driven twisty mountain passes. BUT, there is a catch, generally, with the ST seats; they were designed, (the Westfield version, as others have said, the seat is made by Cobra, but is a tweaked, Westfield specific model). for the era of Westfield's when lowered floor pans were standard across the range. And as such, when sat in a Sport Turbo seat, in a lowered floor pan car, your eye line is very, very similar in height to what it would be with the old Sports Seats in a none-lowered floor pan car. Sport Turbos without the lowered floors do leave you sitting quite high in the car, especially if you're around 6" or taller. I know a few people that have taken the runners off them and made brackets to bolt them directly to the floor, which helps quite a bit.

  10. If Westfield can no longer supply what you need, try speedy cables. They can make almost anything to your spec or using the original as a pattern. https://www.speedycables.com/heavy-duty-cables/ edit: it’s unlikely to be a Ford part as the pedal box is of Westfield’s own design rather than from a donor vehicle.

  11. Ben’s seats are the Westfield Sports Turbo seats, made by Cobra. I also find them very comfortable and supportive, but worth finding someone local to you with a set to try them out if you’re on the large side as the side supports might make it a bit tight. I would expect Westfield’s demo car has a set fitted if you want to pop down to Bicester.

  12. contact intatrim (supplier) I believe... I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong or failing that Westfield themselves. Mine came from the old Westfield before take over. I can't remember the exact cost now.

  13. It was Daddy daycare day today (and tomorrow), so I opted to take Lorna to the Exmoor Pony Centre at Dulverton, in the Westfield of course! Took us about 1.5 hours to get there, mostly good roads but definitely not ideal in a Westfield on the last stretch down to the centre! Pony petting and souvenir shopping done, we headed on a 45 minute trek up over the moor, by way of Simonsbath and a bit more wild pony spotting, to Lynmouth. After a drive down to the bottom of the Esplanade and back, we found a space by the river to park up, stretch our legs and have lunch. This was followed by a cream tea for me and massive ice cream for Lorna which she valiantly defeated, although the last part exploded on her, requiring an emergency baby wipe or two from a kindly passing mother to clear up the mess! We had plenty of interest and nice comments about the car which was nice. We had a quick trip up and down the funicular railway, spectacular views at the top, then headed for home. The climb up Countisbury hill is one I don’t think I will tire of; beautiful views though it pays not to get distracted given the precipitous drop and lack of any fence or wall! From then on I confess it became a bit of a slog. Slow traffic most of the 2 hour journey home with only the occasional bit of fun. I think I nearly broke Lorna; she was very tired from all the fresh air and Westfield bumpiness but remained in good humour throughout. The car had a good wash down and dry off before being popped into its Carcoon. 145.1 miles, great fun and we will both sleep soundly tonight, one of us dreaming of ponies…. 😊 Longleat tomorrow, don’t think I’ll take the Westie there! 🦁🐅🐺😬😬😱😱🤣🤣
