Yes Rob, it finally happened!! it was dddrrryyy!!! at last. Weird how we had to wait for the winter months for that to happen but that's what we love about winter, no caravans, less cyclists, less traffic in general plus the bonus of the dry weather, it was indeed cold though, all day too. The Winter Warriors made it out, here we are parked at the car museum.
The Capri behind is part of the 'Drive Dad's Car' experience, where you can actually drive the cars, making it a unique place to visit.
Our visit coincided with The Sports and Supercar Owners Club visit. A friendly bunch who, amongst other things, do some interesting runs out around the North of England, including Whitby, Northumberland etc for a membership fee of £120 per year.
Breakfast was taken in the cafe at the museum.
Once back outside the tyre kicking began
Glen found a replacement for me, a much younger version
Next we took off on the run out across the beautiful Peak District, it felt good to be out, wrapped up with the cold air just snapping at your nose, love it.
Electric heated gloves are a must, especially for the exposed right hand and more especially if you are male and need the loo at the other end. Not something that I have ever considered but it is a valid point!
I had booked us in at The New Bath Hotel, Matlock Bath for 12.30 and we arrived exactly on time. It is in a beautiful setting with the surrounding limestone cliffs and the village only a 2 minutes walk away, inside the hotel all the 1930's character is maintained while adding a subtle modern look. We are lucky to have these 2 places in the Peak District and within 5 miles of each other.
Parked at the hotel.
We felt like royalty as we were welcomed in to a set table and waited on, better than our usual cafe capers.
The food was excellent, beef dinners all round
Apple strudel with almond sponge and custard for dessert, now we are being totally spoilt.
Not so sure about the vegetarian option, something about cheese, a goat and having it's nuts whipped. Have I got that in the right order? Perhaps @Rob Hunter - Club Secretary can answer that one, it seems to be his thing.
A brill day out, much fun and good to be out driving the car. It's Saturday next weekend for the meet, if the weather is dry as is forecast, we will meet at Quackers at 10am (now Santa has left the building), have a drive round, then over to @AndrewBClarke for his Christmas doo. Looking forward to it.
