  1. I pulled into the garage after a quick blast round the back roads and realised that I could see my feet. I didn't realise that I had illuminated footwells! But then I started thinking: had I always had illuminated footwells? I honestly couldn't remember. Why would a car as simple as a Westfield have a feature so Max Power? And if it did, wouldn't it be an offputting colour like lilac? This needed investigating. It stayed on with everything bar the ignition. Not a single switch on the dash made a difference. Weird, weird. A bit of gymnastics got my head into the footwell. Yep, there's a bulb under there. I need a bit more space to figure it out. Maybe if I put the handbrake off for more wiggle room.......... I'm really ashamed at how long it took me to figure out that the handbrake warning light had fallen out of the bulb holder. David.

  2. Not a particularly recent snap, but the last time this one went out properly. (and yes, it does have a front splitter. I believe there was an incident with a kerb....)

  3. I'm blushing. I don't know everything, i just happened to be in front of my PC when I saw Ben's post for help. I've got over 30 years industrial electronics experience, so I'm usually handy with electrical fault finding. I've had great support from the members in this club and I enjoy giving back.

  4. Just checking that the Peak District is still beautiful as Glen tries out his new Keis Heated Jacket, which was a success btw.

  5. Hello All, General tickets are now on sale for Silverstone Festival 2024 (previously know as Silverstone Classic just to confuse us!) The Club has a discount ticket code available in the ''WSCC Members Only Offers and Deals'' area of the forum. Link to purchase club discounted tickets: https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/silverstone-festival/ticket-types/car-clubs Club discounted ticket prices are tiered so book early to save cost, the car club display package includes 2 x adult general admission tickets (one driver and one passenger) and 1 x vehicle display pass for the clubs allocated display area, pricing as below : WSCC have secured an infield display area again and we have applied for the club parade lap so fingers crossed the club bags one for 2024!! 😁 😁 ***Club members who are camping usually book Woodlands campsite at : https://www.silverstonewoodlands.co.uk/ ***

  6. Fancy a change of wheels from my Team Dynamics 5 spoke to some Pro Race. I have winter tyres but if there are tyres on yours and you fancy selling just give me a shout. I'm near Tamworth if that helps and don't mind a 70 mile or so trip. I really fancy 8 Spoke Superlight deep dish but no one seems to do them in an offset that suits my SEIW. Unless you know better. Toybox has them for £220 each but too much for my shallow pockets. Thanks all. OBO Russell

  7. Welcome from Weybridge! You’ll find everyone on here very helpful. There’s a local Surrey group and @Martin Hewes AO Surrey is the organiser. There’s also the Thames Valley group to your north and I think @Jim RS is the organiser there.

  8. I will. minilites look great for me. Especially the deep dish. Was hoping @Toybox Specialist Cars would be having a Black Friday sale as I’m only up the road from them. OBO

  13. For my Turbo Zetec Opie oils recommended a fully synthetic 5W-40 as better at higher temps. I now use Millers 5w40 Racing Oil CFS NT+ Competition Fully Synthetic

  14. Hmmmm, very interesting idea. I have a Turbo Zetec, fairly powerful, nice big radiator plus an oil cooler. I have yet to track it but on the road it does take a while to get hot and never seems to get above maybe 85° That is water temp though as I have no oil temp gauge, something I really should add on a car that is track prepped maybe? There is a ducting pipe from the front of the car to the oil cooler (which is behind the radiator but in front of the battery), it hadn't occurred to me to move the pipe for road use or even blank off the oil cooler as a test. I will be trying that next time I'm out for a blat. Thanks for the idea!

  17. Realistically, I suspect this is going to need to be an area level arranged thing if anyone wants to take it on. There is a huge amount of prep work from the Shows team on the run up to Malvern, a bit of a break, and then it's on to the next shows, the Silverstone Classic and Newark Kit Car Show.

  18. I'd attend and help out too, but I understood if the consensus is that its too soon after the kit car show. I'll try to get along anyway and get a feel for what the show is like and how much it might appeal to Westfield fans if it returns in future years.

  19. You can wear it either way as you wish, Glen wore it as an outer layer because it is not that cold yet. He intends to wear his WSCC jacket over the top as the norm, that will help keep it clean too, although it is washable. It feels windproof but it was dry yesterday so it has not been tested against any rain, it is not marketed as waterproof in any way. It is very toasty. @ianali the body building is tomorrow😁

  20. Is there any way of knowing which day the parade lap, if we get one, will be? I suspect I'll only get a day pass, and wouldn't want to miss the chance!

  21. I will investigate tommorrow more deeply but as Ian said it must be a high resistance joint, on either the engine block to chassis earth or the earth connection to the steering rack.. any how. Best walk the dog now before I get in trouble 😂

  22. Many thanks all. Especially Ian for his remote fix! So basically there is an issue with the earth somewhere. After a bit of fault finding and cable tieing a jump lead from the negative batt terminal to the earth post on the chassis it all sprang back to life and I carefully drive home anticipating the jump leads pinging off at any second (but they didn’t!) thanks all again. This is why the club is great 😊

  23. From what I've seen on here, the WCL website is more accurate than the WSC one as far a stock/lead times. Hence many members have received parts next day. As expected more specialist items such as chassis and body work have seen price increases. The business is in a tricky phase, they need to develop purchase history with many suppliers who likely had they fingers burnt when WSC Folded. If buyers are then wary or don't order, it's going to take longer for this process to take place and it will be longer before prices can reduce as volumes increase etc. Have a chat with sales at WCL. I'm sure he'll help find a way to get you back building either a new car or a restoration project and get you enjoying tinkering with a Westfield again.
