I've just spoken with @Benrobson2999 - Kent AO and we've played a game of twister, where he holds the phone, a mulitmeter, a red probe and a black probe and I then tie him in knots 😉 via the phone. We've confirmed his battery negative isn't connected to the chassis and I've suggested he bolts the two cables on his battery isolator to one post on it, to effecrtively bypass it. I'm awaiting his call to confirm he's running......................6 points

Many thanks all. Especially Ian for his remote fix! So basically there is an issue with the earth somewhere. After a bit of fault finding and cable tieing a jump lead from the negative batt terminal to the earth post on the chassis it all sprang back to life and I carefully drive home anticipating the jump leads pinging off at any second (but they didn’t!) thanks all again. This is why the club is great 😊4 points

EggonToast, just use a reputable brand of antifreeze, same colour as is in the system already (unless you plan to completely drain down and flush) and mix in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. I think for our climate that is usually 50:50, but don't hold me to that, read what it says on the tin!2 points

I fitted a pair of those the other week. Take your time cutting the roll bar holes in them.1 point

I will investigate tommorrow more deeply but as Ian said it must be a high resistance joint, on either the engine block to chassis earth or the earth connection to the steering rack.. any how. Best walk the dog now before I get in trouble 😂1 point

You should have 12.6v on the main red connection to the starter motor as this is live all the time. Is the main earth connection from the battery to the chassis connected still? Check that the white and red wire on the starter motor from the ignition is connected both ends (starter and ignition)1 point

Have you checked the big fuse on the chassis near the coolant reservoir above the mastercylinders?1 point

Is the starter motor clicking or trying to turn the engine over? Do the ignition lights come on? It could be; 1) Heat soak in the starter motor that has damaged the solenoid rendering it useless 2) Loose connection to the starter motor; main 12v connection or the ignition trigger 3) Faulty ignition barrel 4) Poor battery connections 5) Faulty alternator Sorry for my random thoughts!1 point

A friend of mine phoned me today, simmering about having to do a SAC at age 75, nicked for doing 34mph in a 30 zone. Naturally, once I found out where it happened so I could avoid it in future, I sympathetically laughed at him down the phone. 😆👹 After all, what are friends for?1 point

Many, many years ago, my BiL was nicked whilst on a work trip to Edinburgh I think, - slightly concealed manned speed trap, on a very long straight section of dual carriageway (ie 70mph limit), crossing the border. High speeds were very common, and they were pulling car after car, a significant number, my BiL included, in three figures. Needless to say, no FP tickets for them. So when he went to court, there were literally ploughing through dozens of drivers from the same traffic stop's. He knew a fine and a ban would be standard, but had prepared all his statement before hand, he was a rep, so car needed, unnecessary hardship if banned, etc. Thankfully, he had a load of people go first, and noticed that every time one of the English drivers tried to protest the ban, or plead for a more lenient one, it went up to the limit of what was possible, and every driver that meekly stood there, plead guilty and took their medicine, got towards the lower end of the scale. Needless to say, his notes stayed in his pocket and he stood there like a guilty school boy, accepted his ban and got two or three weeks, if I recall.1 point

Just did a quick test. Stopped for a photo. Went to restart ignition and nothing…. checked fuses. All seem ok. Completely dead. Battery was new. Any ideas. Wife’s on the way with a meter and jump leads…0 points
