  1. My sons and I got there bright and early to beat the normal NEC traffic and arrived at the halls just after the doors opened and it was already quite busy! I have been to the Classic Car show many times in the past, but before my membership of the WSCC I would wander the halls for hours admiring the cars but not see a soul I recognised.... how things have changed! Having been a member of NWKCOG Hardcore for a good few years, it was great to see them having a stand at the show. I know Trevor quite well and we always enjoy a bit of good natured banter whenever we see each other, this was no exception ๐Ÿ˜‚ As I'm chatting on the stand I'm tapped on the shoulder by @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative 's better half, Glen with his son in tow. Around the corner I stumble across the Burton Car Club, with friends Michael who runs the club and Ged owns GE Refinishers (a classic car restoration business) manning the stand. Wandering a bit further I came across the Spax stand so had a good chat about all things springs and dampers with Tony (aka @DamperMan) who i'd not seen since the Warwickshire Curborough track day. Great to see you Tony, I'll be in contact soon about some new dampers! About to enter the next hall I recognised the dulcet tones of my mate Nick Bradley who is not only a Westfield Megabusa owner but also owns Superveloce Cars (builders of the Aardvark Racing SR1). With the Westfield Chesil factory being there, it would have been rude not to go and say hello! It was brilliant to see @DIY-Si's beautiful Coventry Climax engined Westfield XI having pride of place on the stand alongside the electric Chesil and the white SEIW demonstrator. Nigel Trilk was on great form, apparently they were having a very successful few days which was great to hear. Seems the factory are getting some good interest in all three models. There were a few cars there too, here's a few of my favourites ๐Ÿ˜ Obviously a Westie or two! My favourite matchbox toy as a kid! Always fancied one of these, beautiful ๐Ÿ˜ A bit of Jap 70's restomod muscle I'd give my left arm for this... 917.... enough said! Have a soft spot for a Ginetta... Dream car of the early 90's One of my late father's faves, a stunning SM Who wouldn't want a 1937 Ford flathead cabriolet in the garage!? A rare 'Sud that the tin worm didn't eat ๐Ÿ˜‚ Stunning pre-WW2 Frazer Nash BMW

  4. My first time at the show and it was amazing. Did not get to see everything but had a great time seeing very nice motors. Had a lovely chat with the westfield team and got talking with damperman of course. Lovely guy and he was beaming like a cheshire cat when i said his shocks he supplied me have transformed my car. Will get some pics uploaded soon but i know after talking to Nigel at westfield the futures bright and exciting. I was hoping to bump into others from here but it was a massive show and hard to keep track of everyone. Well done westfield for chatting to us and making us welcome as usual. Cheers Bellyboy

  7. Pleasure to be involved in the transportation of your westfield the cars a credit to your ownership its a shame to sell it but you have enabled a new owner to own and cherish it and its better to be out being used than sat in storage after all that what it was built for . iain ih logistics

  8. Digital tickets will be for sale from Silverstone, club members can benefit from purchasing club discount package tickets using the club discount code available shortly on the forum. I will add a dedicated pinned thread with all details once club display packages go live which is mid November I believe.

  9. I can't thank Iain and Karen enough for a completely smooth and perfectly executed collection and Delivery of my new to me Westfield SEiW from Glasgow to East Devon. I would thoroughly recommend IH Vehicle Logistics. They look after your car and treat it as if it was they're own.

  15. Some great advice on this thread, so rather than re-hash it all, will just add a couple of general comments! If you don't have an oil temperature gauge, (or a logger recording temps, even if not displayed in real time), you really have no idea if you have a true issue or not, in 90% of cases. Unless an out and out competition or equivalent track car, that only sees careful warm up/cool down and hard track use, if you do fit an oil/air type cooler, you need a thermostat too*. If you're more of a balanced year round road user, you probably, for most common Westfield engines DON'T need a cooler. Even on the engines dogma tells you, you will. If you like to mix year round driving with very hard road driving on, oh, lets say Alpine style roads , or perhaps a generous number of track days as well, without actually living at the track, then seriously consider an oil/water style cooler. Some of the common Westfield engines, Honda F20, Duratec etc actually come with the OEM manufacturers version already, in fact. Though subject to what your oil temp gauge is telling you, this might not be enough. In which case a bigger, Mocal or similar style cooler, (which may also mean a slightly bigger or more efficient rad, too), is the thing to go for. The Oil/water type cooler, have the advantage, that they won't over cool the oil, in fact, they'll actually look after it better, helping it get up to a minimum operating temperature faster. Great for winter/colder days, or even just getting the engines T's and P's up to working levels faster, and more mechanically sympathetically. The oil/air type cooler, has some benefits for pure track cars, efficiency wise, and oil pressure wise, (potentially), BUT without a thermostat, will over cool the oil when not driving hard, which is also bad for the engine/oil. A thermostat will help, here, true, just be aware, that the stats for oil systems are usually different to those like you have in the coolant system. To avoid pressure drop catastrophes, they will frequently still flow more oil then you might think, through them, even in the "closed" position. So with this type cooler, physically covering it in colder weather is often best.

  17. That was quite cold on Sunday but Donnington really does load temperatures up more than other tracks.. if you were getting hot on Sunday Dan and you had plans to Donnington in the summer then I would consider further oil cooling... You can always blank off.. If not doing Donnington in high temps then probably be ok.. I try and keep my temps around 100-105.. the oil may cope with higher temps but I don't think it does engine any good, plus if I do then happen to be at Donnington on a hot day there is a little up my sleeve. I use Miller's and it seems ok.. going to take a sample out of engine and send to them to analyse which is worth it for about ยฃ40..

  18. Its looking like I'll be coming along myself tomorrow (and as the "Bank of Dad" is paying I'm sure I'll have a couple of my lads in tow!) Obviously I'll be visiting the Westfield stand, but have some mates on the Burton Car Club and the Rolls Royce Motor Club stands I'll be going to see. It's also obligatory to see the fellow NWKCOG guys on their stand and hurl some light hearted abuse at Trev ๐Ÿ˜‚
