  1. Just an update it’s turns out to be a fault connection on the switch! I can’t believe it was a simple as that’s. All lights working feel a bit embarrassed I raised this as a technical issue on here Many thanks to all who responded. Just out of interest are there any Westfield specialist in the North of England as probably I will want to take it for a health check and maybe set up / corner weighting as I will be going on track in the spring and want to make sure it’s full my ready. Cheers

  3. Hi. Thought you may enjoy some pics of my new daily. Having covered a minuscule 13,500 miles in the last 3 years I returned my lease car to Audi last month. Then decided that with such low annual mileage now was a good time for a silly daily car. It’s a 718 Cayman T300 PDK. Only had it since Monday but loving it so far!

  8. The forecast in the East is slightly better that the rest of the country, so who is mad enough to come out?? On the positive, it is promised to be warm and I've re-waterproofed my half hood! Meet / park up in Stamford at the Town Meadows car park at 12 - PE9 2QU and walk to the J D Weatherspoons 'The Stamford Post' for lunch. Not knowing Stamford very well, if anyone has a better suggestion of somewhere to eat, please drop me a note After lunch, drive the long way round (about 1hr) to Hambleton Bakery Café, Exton LE15 8AN for cake and coffee before heading home. Please post on here if you are coming as if there are no takers, I'll stay in bed.

  9. This is nothing to do with me, but a Youtuber I follow did a 24 hour live stream late last year raising a tad over 8k, this year he has increased to 25 hours. If you have nothing to do please join in and donate if its possible for you. Stream goes live Friday ( today) at 3pm, through to 4pm on the following day. A 12 minute video explaining this years event recorded last month. And yesterday he released an update, stream goes live at 3pm on Friday ( today) till 4pm the day after. Hope to see a WSCC member or two there. Here is his main live streaming page, once live you will see his live stream listed. https://www.youtube.com/@UPnDOWN/streams

  10. Very nice and shiny! I don't think I'll have the time for much beauty treatment. I'll make sure I don't smell, but the car will probably fairly filthy. When I cleaned it before the Lynton&Lynmouth Car Festival it ended up sprayed in muck everywhere before I arrived - Devon roads ... See you tomorrow at Tesco!

  14. Love it; that would have been my "go to" car if I had bought another "silly" car. For better or worse, I've bought a new Karok with 4x4 transmission, 2ltr. oil burner and auto transmission, instead. Don't really regret it, I'm only very very slightly envious!! By the way, I love the Martini colours flash down the side.👍

  16. I have just discovered that this thread can be read by non members also, so I will be careful how I word this. I was going to put this in S&N, no not M, leave the room you.... However since it is about mental health and its effects I thought it best to add it here. Previous posts may explain more, but that was ages ago and without piling through all the pages I have forgotten what I may have written, so for now I will just address the last 18 months or so. I suffer from huge insomnia bouts, longest without sleep so far was 78 hours ( just a month or so back) , I then manage to sleep for perhaps 3 or 4 hours then awake and can't get back to sleep ( at this point I just get up and hope I tire myself out by being awake again) , more recently my sleep can be 5 or 6 hours, BUT at the wrong part of the day, ie awake all night and sleep during the day, I was wondering what folks do ( should you be or have been affected this way) to break the cycle, I have tried the stay awake then go to bed at 11pm or whatever time your normal time was, but that just does not work. Please don't post medical advice is not given here, this is a problem just like we get on the car threads, where joe has an issue and we all ( where we can) chip in with help and maybe offer first hand advice and a possible cure, I appreciate your concern, and this last paragraph relates to the post being public because there are things I wish not be known outside of WSCC. Would "hiding" this thread be an option?, just asking as I have had to miss out some important details. Of course it's handy for non- members to view the tread, but depending on folks issues they may feel they can't post something ( as is my case) and miss out on help - just my view thats all. Richard.

  17. I was on the lookout for a seven 4 years ago when I joined the forum but life got in the way for some reason, as it does! I think it’s been worth the wait though. Deposit paid to a fantastic guy near Swansea and the car is coming home on the 7th Oct…happy days! I’ve also realised at 57 I’m not as flexible, or slim as I thought I was but I fit thankfully. Never thought I’d be limbo dancing at my age. A few things to get sorted for the 7th so I’ll be asking a few questions. At least for this first year I plan to try and use it through the winter on dry non salty days and see how I get on. Let the fun begin!

  18. Now I’ve had a chance to recover I’ve more time to type a full round up of the day. It was an early start on Colchester High Street; as a penalty for getting my entry in so early we were were given the earliest arrival time of 8am. Next year I’ll put my entry in last minute so we get the 10:00 drop off time. Scrutineering went without a hitch and we were given our pass sticker to display on the car. My OCD wasn’t best pleased that it was slightly off centre on the nose cone. After this we had a good couple of hours to waste till the 11am start time so we went off to admire our competition and pick up some tips from the pros. There was a good mix of styles and designs. The most popular chassis were based on karts and quad bikes whilst a few others used tricycles. The rest like me built their own chassis. There was plenty of admiring glances from the crowd and plenty of children had a photo behind the wheel, after swapping notes with the seasoned pros I realised that my wider wheels may be a disadvantage on such a flat course where all the speed comes from the initial push rather than the gradient of the hill. Not to be deterred we lined up in our number 4 spot (although 3 on the road as one didn’t turn up) ready for our first run. The start ramp was a monster and quite steep too, the two karts ahead of us bottomed out on the transition as they were pushed up the ramp, hopefully they made it off ok. No such issues for us, the short wheelbase and the minimal overhang front and back meant that nothing caught on the way over the top. For the first run my instructions to my pushing team of Ian, Paris and Dawn were basic and clear: a good firm push but not too hard as this was the first time I’d driven the kart at any pace so I want to get a feel for it. From the off it felt steady as we rolled down the ramp onto the tarmac. I steered it with ease through the kart wash, getting a good soaking of soapy bubbles on the way. Up and over the speed bump I could feel it was loosing a bit of speed at this point as the road flattened and I rolled towards the barrage of super-soakers. Under the finish arch and I was just happy to get a clear run and record a time. As I sat near the finish the others started to roll in behind me in various states of undress and a good few needing to be pushed there. I’ve no idea what my time or position was but I was guessing we were somewhere in the top half. A time if anything less than 30seconds was considered very good, 30-60 was the average range and plenty failed to break one minute. The top two sports were taken by the sister cars of ADP classic racing and Techniq. For those who were thinking that my kart was over engineered these were were in a league of their own in terms of chassis and design. Both cars had inboard suspension on pushrods and full carbon fibre bodywork. Unsurprisingly they ran the course in 23 seconds. We had a good long wait till our next run so a chance to get my race weight up with some lunch. Come the end of lunch we lined up again for run 2. Feeling more confident about the handling my pushers gave it all and everything they had. With the timing beam at the bottom of the ramp we lined up right at the back to get the biggest run up possible. As I launched off, Ian hit the deck as Paris and Dawn sprinted down the track behind me. This run felt considerably faster as I went through and over the obstacles. I got well and truly covered by the kart wash to the point I could see out the goggles and then soaked by the super soakers. Crossing the line I had a short interview with BBC Essex who informed me of my finishing time of 30seconds. Time to relax and watch the other runners come in.

  20. Deposit now taken. 2007 wide body Westfield for sale on a 2005 private plate which can go with the car, also have the original reg on retention. The private was valued at £400 on an online site. The car has done 28500 miles, and was MOT’ed in July. I have recently had the engine professionally tuned and mapped on a rolling road and is giving 130 bhp its a 1600 Ford Zetec Sigma engine with Jenvey individual throttle bodies with a new Pipercross air filter running on Omex 600 ECU with a MT75 five speed box with a standard Ford Sierra back axel (No Slip Diff) . Just fitted which is still with a warranty a more powerful starter motor and solenoid relay. It has two keys and the car has an immobiliser. The engine and gear box were new and crated from Westfield with the original kit. It’s been fitted with upgraded Westfield Cobra sports seats and four point harness seatbelts with a removable Go Race steering wheel. It has a half hood, full hood, half doors, full doors and wind deflectors. It also has been fitted with the RAC roll bar. It has the Soft Bits, cockpit cover, boot bag and a spec made clamp on boot rack. Plus a spare wheel with a un used tyre. The car comes with an extreme conditions outside waterproof cover and a soft indoor showroom style cover, and the car is fitted with an efficient heater for those colder days. I have only had the car for just over a year and its been immense fun car to drive. The car runs exceptionally well, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I am sadly selling as it hasn’t quite worked out with our original plans for some weekends away touring with the wife, i did though consider giving her a bus ticket . unfortunately she is just not that keen on the cars size and feels vulnerable. I am now looking into a larger classic British Sports car with doors and a larger boot :-). The car is in Devon, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. I can send you a walk around film on request. Thanks £9500 ono.
