  2. Nothing really to add, just a reminder as we head towards the darker evenings of Autumn, that this thread is here, as is the whole WSCC family. Remember, you never know what other people are going through, so be kind and look out for each other. Mental illness is an illness just like any other, its time we loose the stigma, its 2023 not 1893!

  3. Please note this is a well used example with 10k on clock and the price reflects that the car is a 2002 kit which was built by Jim Bickley and registered in 2004 with tuned engine and a close ratio Ford box - the car is painted in Aston Martin racing green and has some micro blistering on paint can furnish more details if anyone interested looking in the region of 15k for it many thx Mark

  8. Run out over the peaks in the 30C heat- a bit too hot for me. Got a passenger view of Chesterfield from East Moor. Then we did a bit of cleaning and polishing before the kids decided to pretend to drive it.

  11. Hi Chris, you are of course very welcome to join our events which attract members from both Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. In fact, the Norfolk area could better be described as the East Anglian area! Our next event takes place on September 16th and is a run up to Old Hunstanton.

  12. Hi Chris, there are quite a few of us around North Essex areas, so we're often not far from you in Ipswich (I'm Maldon). There are often Essex and Kent members at Snetterton, too, which would make a nice day out for you to come and say 'hi' even if you're just spectating.

  15. Less than two weeks to go and the final details for the day have been released. For those that know Colchester the start line will be at the town hall and finishing at the bottom of high street near the castle. By my calculations that’s 200m so shorter than was originally billed but is the steepest part with an elevation change of 6m. No news yet on the course design but I’m expecting a couple of jumps and a chicane. I guess we’ll find out in the day. BBC Essex are also proving race day commentary and there’s three big screens to watch the action. Final fettling of the soapbox is being done, sone basic testing was completed by pushing around the garden and rolling off the trailer ramps. obligatory race car driver stickers fitted

  17. Only a couple of weeks to go until race day, so today I went to check out the competition at the Bury St Edmunds soapbox race. there was the usual variety of builds on display from the very simple I love the shoe on a handle for the brake To the much more adventurous. The team from Sealey tools had really gone to town building a full roll cab compete with pull out drawers and tool kit. The best costumes were dastardly and muttley This meccano build looked great too

  18. I bottled it and hired a van. I didn't fancy bringing it back in the rain on top of the car.

  19. I'm trying to workout why people only become members of the club to try and sell their car 🤔 and why are they not already members? Its great for the club 12 month membership straight into the bank .

  21. In general, no idea and whoever thinks people are logical creatures is sadly mistaken. At the moment there may be some other factors going on. From watching some auctions etc, the "collectors" car market is a bit depressed and there's a lot of people's toys coming onto the market due to the impact of mortgage rates/cost of living/ULEZ etc. Some of these cars will have been sitting in garages for a while doing nothing and now they need to be sold and this is a good place to do that. I'm also guessing a year's membership here is cheaper than selling on Ebay, AutoTrader or sites like car and classic.

  22. This perhaps? They will try and do some searching to get an idea of prices and then see it a better alternative to PH etc.

  23. Good question Ash. Perhaps ask on some of the relevant for sale threads or tag the seller in on here. I'd personally prefer to buy from someone who's known in the club etc and being able to see this history on the forum (questions, problems, upgrades etc) is often useful. As you rightly suggest they're missing out on a lot! Perhaps some don't know about the club until they go to sell their car?
