  1. Another fun evening last night! Sadly, I'd been in Liverpool all day so hadn't had time to fetch the Westfield... typical bad timing given the glorious weather 🤦‍♂️ Steve arrived first in the lovely MK, soon followed by Garry and Sandra, Rachael and Iain, then Paul (in the VX220 Turbo). Minutes later we hear the distant roar of a redtop signifying Gavins arrival in his Westfield. Rachael and Iain informed me that they'd passed a blue Westfield that seemed to be lost so I jogged (OK, maybe more a brisk walk 😂) to the main road to try and flag it down.... thankfully the driver stopped for the mad man waving at him from the pavement! This turned out to be Tim (potential new member from Tamworth) who was coming to his first meeting. Tim's car is a beautiful dark blue Sport 250 that he'd built himself and had come along to see what the WSCC is all about. Fortuitously, Martyn had come along (also from Tamworth) so we had the opportunity to let Tim know of all the members and meets we do between the two areas, fingers crossed he joins up and becomes a regular. Later we were also joined by Del and Julie in the TR6 and Dom had made the journey over from Stoke in the Z4. The pub had cordoned off part of the car park for an event over the weekend so we had to take the opportunity to us it as our personal parking 😂 I find it amazing how far some people travel for this popular social meet, we really do appreciate the commitment! As always we had lots of chat and banter about recent meets, track days and tons of advice on technical things (both daily drivers and our midlife crisis cars). Obviously word had spread that I would soon be trying to fill the large shoes of Scott as Club Secretary, so I was subjected to a load of leg pulling about wearing pencil skirts etc.... Huge thanks to @Steve Bosworth for this little gem! 😂 Cracking evening, huge thanks to everyone for coming along and making it such great fun, see you on the next one 👍

  2. First drive after having a roll cage fitted, loving the new look. A big shout to the boys at Westfield/Project Shop for fitting the cage. I thought hard about doing it myself but having built the car I couldn't bring myself to start taking it apart again! I would highly recommend using these guys, nice to deal with and top quality work as you would expect. I intentionally stopped for a photo at somewhere I've been before so I could make a before and after. Here's the before: And today:

  6. I've obtained a pass to attend 🙂 but will be there early and won't stay too long as my wife has another car show to attend later in the day and I need to take over on child herding. How two petrol-heads managed to create a child that REALLY doesn't like car shows is an eternal mystery.....

  8. Hi, A few of us are meeting some of the NWKCOG gang at their last stop before their JCB factory tour. We will meet at 915-930 at the Starbucks (Uttoxeter Bypass, Uttoxeter ST14 5AA) for a brew and meet the convoy. Once we've seen them off we will head a few miles south to Cobwebs Cafe (19 Goose Ln, Abbots Bromley, Rugeley WS15 3DF) near Abbots Bromley for 1030am. If we have time we may also head to Blithfield Reservoir for a photo or two.

  9. @djm it’s the new Westfield company basically and they’re based in Bicester, just outside of Oxford. The new general manager at Westfield Chesil Ltd also runs his own business, Classic Project Shop, and they do a lot of the work now for Westfield, so it’s something of a collaboration. I ordered the parts and agreed the fitting with Westfield but the work was done at the Project Shop. If you google classic project shop bicester, you’ll find them

  14. It was a great weekend all round, not least for finally getting away on it! He has semi-retired as he got bored - so he has bought himself a little project car -Firefly, I think he said and has invented some new suspension set up for it and is fuel injecting the cross flow... He likes to do the odd job from his past customers but nothing new he said - pays the rent! And yes, brilliant to have a local specialist - don't know where I'll go when he stops!

  18. I've worked in logistics and ecommerce over 30 years and had some interesting times with all the major parcel carriers (through choice I have never worked for one though!). As the old adage says "you get what you pay for" with a lot of them. Hermes/Evri are positioned at the cheaper end of the market.... The larger hubs are amazing places, handling millions of parcels each week for the major ecommerce players. Interestingly, all of the carriers are managing 90-95% on time delivery performance for next day and 97-98% for a standard 3-5 day service. They do focus on the larger businesses as they are the cornerstone of their operation and give scale and geographical reach. As a consequence, the focus on the smaller business/individual is lacking in a lot of cases. Being "in the know", there are certain carriers, regions and product types I'd be very careful about if I was sending a parcel myself. Even as a buyer, for expensive items I will tend to check the carrier used before making a purchase (some businesses will give you options). I would also say, try not to send a parcel around Black Friday, Cyber Monday or the week or two prior to Christmas... it is total carnage for the parcel industry at those times of the year 😂
