  1. Thanks again @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative for another great day despite the weather trying to spoil it. Great to see @ianali and catch up. We're still giggling about the jacuzzi and the Matey🤣 The route was fabulous and would be even better in dry weather. Julie's slice of cake was massive compared to mine. Sorry @AndrewBClarke but I'm a fine weather driver in the Westy especially when Sue's in the car🤣 Though we had the roof down on the way home as the sun showed it's face.

  2. Yes my friend, that's what we got today, 11 degrees, rain and sun, the full menu was ours but it did not dampen our spirits. We got a bit worried as we are not used to this, even @Rob Hunter Derby & Notts AO wasn't casting his usual magic and filling the car park for us today Thankfully some friends came out to play and bought their toys with them, phew. Andy was proud to show off his new purchase, what a wonderful wife you have there Andy, Sue is so understanding that toys are one of the most important parts of living your life, it not just about existing. We lingered at Quackers in the hope that it might stop raining but there comes a time when you just have to go. We set off on our route, the rain got heavier as we passed over the Crowdecote bends and got lighter as we tackled the lanes of Ilam and Dovedale. By the time we got to the very pretty village of Tissington it was dry, with the advantage of being very quiet. Parked at Tissington Hall, unheard of on any Sunday never mind a Bank Holiday, yey hey for the rain keeping the tourists away. The staff were glad to seat us at a table in Herbert's Cafe. The FitzHerbert family have owned the village for over 400 years and they do an excellent job, long may it continue. After lunch it was time for a cake-off. The competition was stiff with Andy Cake Meister round the table but if you would like to judge for yourself by looking at this photo, I think I am the clear winner. Andy tried to hide his poor offering with his hand but to no avail. As expected from such a quality establishment, the cake tasted of cocoa, you know, like they used to, before they made chocolate cakes just taste sweet, it was heavenly. Full length windows in the cafe overlooking the Norman Church, built around 1100. The whole village is a delight with it's duck pond full of fish The weather just kept improving, the sun came out and the tops came off. Ian and Ali in their Westfield with Tissington Hall in the background Andy and Sue in their new toy leaving Tissington Thank you folks for a wonderful day out, it's been a scream. We will do that route again with the roof's off so we can enjoy all the views to their full potential, maybe in the winter when it's a bit drier 😍

  3. Looks like that @Andy Westwood is always driving the wrong car. Big nunney. 🤪. Is he scared of a little tincy bit of water?? And he lost the cake challenge!!

  4. Fantastic day and I reckon the rain just added to the fun. Ali and me love the runs over the Peak areas. What’s a little rain when you’re out laughing with friends. Thanks for the invite Julie & Glen and great to see Andy&Sue again, lovely (3rd) car you have there mate! Been a day of laughter. Just brilliant. Now I’m off to wash the muck off the car before the odour of cows… leaches into the walls.

  7. Pleased you had a good time. I’m in Diggle, Saddleworth in the worst B&B possible. Thinking of moving on. It’s only one night otherwise we would. Pretty sure other, more fussy, members of our party will turn on their heals and find a better place to stay. If money wasn’t an issue so would we……

  9. Hi, first post. Built this car over 20 years ago, sold it after a year, and bought it back last year ! Just spent the last few months sorting out and re-commissioning all the mechanics after not being on the road for the past 17 years. Picture taken this week just before it was taken for a pre MOT check over, and MOT test next week. Looking forward to getting behind the wheel again after all these years ! Barry.

  10. Rainfall radar showing a line of heavy rain from Liverpool to Derby, slowly moving south but spreading to the east, so could be unfortunate and be in them all day, or it might clear to be sunny! British summer weather 😁

  12. The weather looks good tomorrow so a few of us are heading to the Factoryheads Cafe at Donington (Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2RP) at 10am for breakfast. After we've refuelled on some saturated fat and caffeine we will head for the circuit to watch the Motorbike Track Day. Feel free to come along 👍

  13. Another great day today!, a couple of showers but nothing major. The international pits are a pleasure to walk around with close access to some precious metal 😎 We had about the same WSCC turnout as yesterday so thank you all who attended and also those who helped set up and breakdown we can’t do it without you all 👍 I bumped into my mate Jezza this aft as well 😅 also got to meet Jodie Kidd who was interviewing Jezza and Ant Antstead with his glorious Redford and very unusual mx5 based Tipo184 😇

  17. There was a good turnout of Westfields today. Do the next-door Lotuses have to drive through the WSCC arch to get to their parking?

  27. Think that might be Cyril and Methodius Church in Prague… In 1942, during World War II, the cathedral was where a last stand was made by SOE-trained Czech and Slovak agents involved in the assassination of SS-ObergruppenführerReinhard Heydrich. SS and Police Leader of Waffen-SS Karl Fischer von Treuenfeldcommanded the Nazi forces that stormed the church on 18 June 1942. After a fierce gun battle, two of the Czechoslovaks were killed and the rest committed suicide to avoid capture.

  30. After 17 years of faithful service, my 05-plate Volvo S60 with 145k miles on it finally developed a fault that was potentially more expensive to fix than the car was worth, so it was off to the great breaker yard in the sky. Fast forward a few days and I’m negotiating a deal for a 20-plate Skoda Octavia at a dealership. The salesman is professional, respectful, intelligent, not smarmy and a painfully young 23 years-old. As the car will be registered in Lady Colonial’s name for total avoidance of Road Fund Duty (she has a blue badge and therefore gets a full break from it), he needs to speak with her by phone (she’s home, not wishing to be bored stupid by cars). I give the young salesman my home phone number and he calls her, uttering the immortal words as he does… ”I’ve never dialled a landline number before.” Twenty-three freaking years old! My heart sank.

  32. The son of one of my workmates was trying to get him to buy him his first mobile phone as a Christmas present. My workmate thought that he was a bit young. In desperation his son turned to me and asked "how old were you when you got your first mobile phone?". His face was a picture when I said "about 30". D

  34. The pound coin was introduced in 1983 so there is a good chance that most people under about 35 have probably never seen a pound note, except in a museum... Gulp...
