  1. Yeah Operation Daybreak. Ever since watching it years ago, I've always wanted to visit the crypt. A few days ago I managed it, standing in the men's footsteps. It was an Honour.

  8. Or a ratchet strap round top & bottom wishbones to pull them together. Sometimes just hand pressure is enough to get sufficient friction into the taper seating so the nut will do up properly.

  9. Think that might be Cyril and Methodius Church in Prague… In 1942, during World War II, the cathedral was where a last stand was made by SOE-trained Czech and Slovak agents involved in the assassination of SS-ObergruppenführerReinhard Heydrich. SS and Police Leader of Waffen-SS Karl Fischer von Treuenfeldcommanded the Nazi forces that stormed the church on 18 June 1942. After a fierce gun battle, two of the Czechoslovaks were killed and the rest committed suicide to avoid capture.

  17. My guess is that it commemorates the deaths of some allied soldiers who were holed up by Germans in the crypt of a church in France or Belgium in WW2. The damage is bullet holes from attacking German guns. If I remember rightly there was a black and white war film made in the 1940s that portrayed the event.

  18. This month we have had a little change of plan. Will still meet at John Lewis, Ashford and have an early morning blat. However this month ending at Cackle Lakes for breakfast as the Stag has an event on and breakfast isn’t that great there! (We visited Cackle a few months ago, decent food and car park.) More details/route to follow but usual time 06.45 at John Lewis. Estimated time of arrival at the lakes around 09.30. Also see the WSCC Kent Facebook group of what’s app for more last minute details/route info etc Ben and Ricky B

  19. I bottled it and hired a van. I didn't fancy bringing it back in the rain on top of the car.

  20. The video by VDO that shows what to do is really good, apart from it's the other bezel design that twists off. Hopefully you have a twist off one ... but it's not that bad if you've the pressed on one. Other lesson learnt - plug it back into the dash and make sure the needle zeroes properly before you put it all back together - saves a lot of swearing if you haven't put the needle back on properly...

  21. VDO screen replacement itself is easy, it's just getting the bezel off and back on again that's a pain. To get it off, I used some plastic pry tools from an electronics repair toolkit I have. Getting it back on, you need to make a firm surface with a dent in it for the push button to go in, then you can use a flat blade screwdriver to push the back ring of the bezel back down - it'll look crap from the back but if you're careful the front will be fine.

  22. Inspired by @AndrewBClarke's great 4 day blat over the weekend. I decided to head out early yesterday(before 6am) and ended up covering 397 great miles over 12.5 hours (I did stop in for Coffee @CosKev) on the way home). First half of the run- Thanks to @David Bennett for sharing a route he'd done earlier this year, which formed part of my morning. I particularly enjoyed this part- 2nd half of the run- Looking moody over Snowdonia but not a drop of rain fell! Craig Goch Dam Lunch break- Pen y Garreg Dam The Dam baguss fan club- Damn reversing! Mainly light or no traffic. It's probably the longest I've driven in a Westfield in a day and it didn't feel like a chore. Though I did sleep well last night !
