  1. Thank you all for coming - especially as our women were playing in the World Cup final. Should have meant that the roads were quiet but as Andy and Becky found, this was not true. At least the weather was good. A no windscreen wiper day and no roof. It did have a little go at rain but this is a traditional English summer so I’ll take it. A fantastic turn out at McD Matlock of 8 Westfields. Rob brought along two with him including @Phippsys old car. Andy and Becky were struggling to get to us but on the positive note, @Chris Emmmade it for breakfast. Leaving @Rob Hunter Derby & Notts AObehind to do granddad duties, we left Matlock and took a route designed by TomTom as ‘challenging’ via Winnates Pass (avoiding the locals) to Edale. En route picked up the stragglers @aeg The Ramblers Inn car park was surprisingly empty so we lined up accordingly. it wasn’t empty inside thou! We lost two Westies at lunch and the remaining six took a route back to Matlock which was ‘different’ as my TomTom kept on going to sleep so hopefully the followers didn’t notice the detours but at least we made it to the designed cake stop at The Fountain Tea Rooms in Bonsall. The obligatory cake photo for @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative who was missing. We all departed well fed and happy that the day worked out roughly as planned 🤪 215miles of no roof, no rain, with great company and friends. Not to mention the Westfield smile. See you all again soon.

  2. Waving to WSCC Members ; ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAGnSGaPe5w Additionaly, one can see there is real justification for use arm restraints in our cars - in case of roll over amputation granted. Was thinking about using a net ("window net" ) but it seems to be additional trouble with getting in / out of the car. Or maybe some of You use nets ? some pictures pls ?

  6. VDO screen replacement itself is easy, it's just getting the bezel off and back on again that's a pain. To get it off, I used some plastic pry tools from an electronics repair toolkit I have. Getting it back on, you need to make a firm surface with a dent in it for the push button to go in, then you can use a flat blade screwdriver to push the back ring of the bezel back down - it'll look crap from the back but if you're careful the front will be fine.

  7. Hi Stu We are in Taunton and would be interested in monthly meets and other events but can’t commit to attending every event. We are also Covid evacuees having moved down to Taunton from the Isle of Man in January 2022. if all goes well we would love to join you at Refuel on the 30th September. Steve

  8. Not recent, but fitted one to my car about 5 years ago, quality was excellent, fit was good. I used some rubber edging where it sits against the rear tub. Also fitted some of Marks carbon mirror covers, cycle wings and flared side panels, all excellent quality.

  9. Glad to hear it 👍 They're a friendly, helpful bunch. My car is held together almost entirely with nuts and bolts from there. They often just charge a nominal quid for a decent quantity of assorted fasteners I've requested. Proper place.

  11. The Caterham Acadamy cars use arm-restraint straps, I believe, or certainly used to a few years back.

  12. Thanks @Rob Hunter Derby & Notts AO It’s how life has been for the last 12 years or more and will not really change. Just need to manage/tolerate and enjoy the good bits.

  14. A new LCD screen for my hopeless VDO speedo which has been intermittent for about 2 years. It's finally done my head in enough to buy a new one to fit. Plus sump and finger filter bolts and washers for my Raceline sump.

  18. Thank you @AndrewBClarke for arranging todays run around the Peaks , but I must say thanks to you all for letting the late comers catch up !!! Our day didn’t start very well due to the wonderful world of road closures 🤬 first the A38 was closed north bound after Lichfield and the detour was taking us back down the 38 and off towards Tamworth on the A51 !! So plan B was hatched to go out via the A515 , great until we got to Draycot under clay where it was also closed sending us to Uttoxeter , a quick phone call to say go without us and we’ll catch you at the Ramblers, then Andy said he’d turn on WhatsApp location so we could track and catch them, well we eventually did But we were going the wrong way 🤪 thanks for waiting while we did a U e it was a great drive thereafter. Pics from the co pilot Billy no mates looking for friends Being allowed to join in Getting your run up Wynats pass ruined 😡 Finally at the Ramblers Thanks all see you soon Andy & Becky

  20. Thought I’d share this in here, seemed the appropriate place… I know the wife (not like that, stop it) of a man who works for RBR on the driver development side of things. Apparently, he and Gary Horner (father of Christian) were working recently at Anglesey for a couple of days, staying locally at a hotel. (A little back story (alleged - but true - allegedly, he said, covering myself legally)… Gary and his wife are not big fans of Christian’s red-headed squeeze, in any way, shape, or form. That might well be because they don’t like how she came into his life and the fact that Christian left his wife of many years and their newborn child to be with Geri. Gary and his wife (allegedly) still have regular happy, friendly contact with Christian’s ex-wife and grandchild.) Back to the story… Gary Horner and employee are at dinner in this Anglesey hotel, and become aware that two of the lady employees are watching them intently, whispering to each other. Eventually, the pair are brave enough to approach the table. “Excuse me… do I know who you are?” Gary: “Who do you think I am?” ”Are you Geri Haliwell’s father-in-law?” Apparently the temperature in the room dropped dramatically and quickly… 🤣

  21. I still have nightmares about those little screws from my build… First of all I lost them and had to reorder some from Westfield Then I somehow managed to over tighten them on one side, cracking the windscreen and having to replace that too before the IVA And they look such innocent little things!

  22. Sorry about the delay in posting an end of trip report but Clare hasn’t been well causing disturbed nights etc. Sunday started for me at an ungodly hour of 5.40am and by the time I had sorted her out, it was 6.30 and not worth going back to bed to get up at 7 to get in a Westie at 7.30 and drive to the Peaks!!
