Thanks for another great day out guys , it’s been a long time But it all came flooding back, I think @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative should be renamed Storm-chaser it’s not the first time she’s took us into doom and gloom. Not long after this photo it got mildly moist 🙄 see you soon Andy & Becky3 points

Although I had booked us in for 10am the car park was chock full of scooters. They were booked in for 8am and should have left by 10am, we parked up in the overflow car park, it was weird though, in the space of less than 5 minutes they all suddenly got on the scooters and disappeared, what a fantastic sight/sound/smell/experience.. The cafe now empty, that was time for breakfast. Richard Usher (owner) came over to welcome us with an instruction to bring @Nick Algar with us next time. Perhaps if we have a committee meeting at the New Bath Hotel we could combine the two activities. Here we are tucked away in the overflow car park, hopefully next time we can display in front of the museum as planned 15 cars, well done you amazing lot for coming out on a forecast of showers, thank you. We got one shower while we were in the cafe and another one on the run out as we entered Bakewell. Here is Richard Ushers car one of only 9 left out of 1800 originally manufactured, the museum is full of interesting facts not normally found in car museums where they just show an example of the older more expensive rarities. We took to the back roads, totally missed out Matlock Bath which might be full of scooters by now 😆 and landed at Quackers cafe Andy kept up tradition with the cherry and almond blondie We sat and chatted for a good long while enjoying the currently dry atmosphere Welcome to the new members, I hope you felt included enough, we are a friendly lot and have no problem talking. It has been great to be back out on a club run after what seems an age, thanks for coming everyone.3 points

Inspired by @AndrewBClarke's great 4 day blat over the weekend. I decided to head out early yesterday(before 6am) and ended up covering 397 great miles over 12.5 hours (I did stop in for Coffee @CosKev) on the way home). First half of the run- Thanks to @David Bennett for sharing a route he'd done earlier this year, which formed part of my morning. I particularly enjoyed this part- 2nd half of the run- Looking moody over Snowdonia but not a drop of rain fell! Craig Goch Dam Lunch break- Pen y Garreg Dam The Dam baguss fan club- Damn reversing! Mainly light or no traffic. It's probably the longest I've driven in a Westfield in a day and it didn't feel like a chore. Though I did sleep well last night !1 point

It was absolutely sopping wet most of the morning, with standing water all over and lots of running water, with some drying conditions just before the lunch break. Wet again after lunch but then it all came good with about half an hour to go and the track drying rapidly. That last half hour was, for me, amazing. As a first track day it was quite something. Seemed very busy despite the weather. Good to meet you too, Nick.1 point

Thanks 👍🤞 That's the plan at the moment. Car's having a new front end fitted by Siltech next week. Few other bits to repair, and it's not quite as straightforward as just bolting it all back together again but should have it done.1 point

I see your 4 hours and raise you 4 hours, looking forward to this one but not the 8 hour drive to get there.1 point

@Flying Carrot Steve if you were interested in selling then please let me know. I'm down the M4 in Newbury, so not far away. I'm still torn between having my existing 13 inch minilights powder coated, sourcing some CXR's or 1.2 Team Dynamics.1 point

Just spoke with Paul of @A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM to arrange some track day cover. He was very helpful. My main poilicy is with Cherished Vehicle who are part of the same group but wouldn't do me track cover. I needed to give my details again, which wasn't a particular inconvenience. I suspect I'll be direct through A-Plan next year for a track cover inclusive policy 👍1 point

I have paid my fee, fingers crossed they let me play. Looking forward to this one, the videos are amazing, especially flying through the farm yard. Fingers crossed Howard and Alex can get their car fixed in time.1 point

Nope, but deliberately, or unthinkingly being a mobile chicane seems to be a very British thing. And with Westfields, (I can’t speak for other kits, but they’re probably similar), it’s a more recent thing too. You do still, generally get treated with more courtesy/thought/consideration than a mainstream manufactures performance car. But it’s not as common as it used to be, even just ten years ago. On the continent, in particular Austria, Germany, France and Italy it couldn’t be more different. (Though you will meet dickheads everywhere). We’ve had traffic on dual carriage ways wave us (a group of four) out from fuel stops for instance, that has resulted in them actually stopping to let the last one or two of us out. This sort of thought and approach to driving is far from a one off, either. Two things in particular seem common. When seeing a group obviously traveling together, more instances of people waiting or waving you through. And particularly in the Germanic countries, an attitude of let faster vehicles through, this doesn’t necessarily mean performance cars, just those wishing to travel at a higher speed than you.1 point
