  1. Hi, Those that made it to Newark will probably have spotted the MacG Racing stand with their stunning Taranis race car (a massively modified and upgraded Ultima). We got chatting to them about the possibility of an open day and after some further discussions with our friend Michael who runs Burton Car Club they have agreed to put one on for us! I believe they are also inviting the Ultima owners club. MacG started life racing a Westfield before moving onto the Ultima and Ginettas (and have an MK currently). On top of their racing business they also do chassis set up and sell things like sequential gearboxes, suspension, wheels etc. https://macgracing.co.uk/ Here is the 7Spot interview with them on YouTube. We will aim to get there about 10am, address is as follows: Barrow Bridge Industrial Estate, Barrow upon Trent, Derby, DE73 7HH Hope to see you there👍

  3. Both are rammed full of intrusive pop up ads that appear as you try and read an article which makes it hard to actually read anything. Really pees me off. As soon as I go on any site that has that much advertising I just close it and look elsewhere. But each to their own…

  4. Just looking at the map, I thought I would suggest a ‘starter for ten’ of Tiverton for somewhere to meet up, favouring Devon to a degree so as to cover a different area to the Bridport meets, while hopefully North Somerset members can link up with Bath and Bristol? It’s about an hour for me, but that’s doable. Fairly handy for Exeter. It’s such a big area that it’s going to be hard to find one location that works for all. Thoughts appreciated. If it looks like a possibility I’ll have a look for some locations. I would favour either 2nd or last week of the month due to other commitments and like either a Monday or Thursday evening. I’ll tag those I’ve gathered as a little list so far, I’ll also put a note out on the Somerset WhatsApp group. Perhaps we need a new WhatsApp group covering Somerset and Devon. @matt rule @ross911rmk @itsagoodalife @Katy @evosteve @jaykay42 Thanks All 👍

  5. Sounds interesting. I'm away the Sunday that weekend, so that might be a good run out on the Saturday.

  7. Hello all, Just an introduction. After a long sabbatical from my last 2 seater indulgance (S1 Lotus Elise) I will hopefully pick up my first westfield next week to once again "scratch the itch" before I am way too old. I sold the Lotus with the intention of trying something different but.... someone in the family had better ideas and the proceeds turned into a new kitchen anyway, 13 years down the line a new toy will grace the garage in a few days Looking forward to some meets (I see the Yorkshire AO lives literally just down the hill from me!) and outings soon. Regards, Martin

  8. Hi Mark, after advise from a number of drivers I brought a pair & they make a big difference, certainly with the doors off. It appears to lessen the turbulent air entering the car and the buffering, but you quickly notice the stone chips “pinging” against them. It’s a 👍 from me.

  9. At the very top of Stevlio (June 2023 -about 8:30AM) and the run up was as traffic free as the pic implies!

  10. Got out in the car for the first time in almost a month after a long holiday (and waiting for the rain to stop), I've missed it! Dropped in to Castle Combe at lunchtime to see a few of the guys on a track day.

  11. Welcome Norrie, have fun with your new car! I’d check whether the current suspension can be adjusted enough to clear your villages speed bumps before necessarily buying new. It often doesn’t take much raising to do it. I’d also check to see what’s catching, underneath. Sometimes it’s something daft like the seat mounting bolts, which can usually be shortened a little. If you do decide on new suspension, @DamperMan on here is well worth speaking to. His Spax packages are extremely well matched to Westfields, - he owns one, after all! Finally on the suspension, once at a suitable height* with or without dampers, it will be well worth having the suspension geometry properly set up by a specialist. It can transform the cars handling, if it’s never been done. *note there is an optimum height range for the suspension, so don’t wind things up too high!

  14. Unfortunately, Dad and I have pulled our entries as the car won’t be ready in time. Luckily, as it turns out, we have quite a few bits in our spares hoard that we will be able to use. But the chassis damage will require someone a little more experienced than us to put right, so will probably have to have it sent away for a proper job to be done.
