  3. I had been working in Castle Donington (2 miles from the Clock Warehouse) and the forecast looked great so I thought I'd go in the Westfield to save me the trip back and forth later in the day. The weather forecast was brilliantly accurate.... 😂 Arriving at the Clock the weather was actually quite nice. On top of our regulars who came in various tintops (work and weather worries conspired against Westfields) we had some new faces at the meet. Dan arrived in his green Westfield that he'd recently got back on the road. Dan has been on a Peaks run a year or two ago before the car needed work and some of you met him at Donington for the recent track day. Another new face was George who some of you may know from the Thames Valley area. He has recently moved to Matlock with his red 3.9 SEIGHT so hopefully we will be meeting on his doorstep when we get a good weekend. After the introductions we got down to the serious business of polishing off some food and exchanging hilarious stories of the recent Donington and Newark events, both of which included copious amounts of precipitation. A couple of shots of the cars... Dan's car flanked by Del's Jaaaaaaggg. The EV's behind were Steve (9 volt) and Gavin (12 volt) 😂 Paul's lovely VX220 Turbo next to mine. Yes, I got some leg pulling for keeping the Javelin sticker on and my jaunty parking angle! George's glorious sounding SEIGHT Brilliant to see you all and thanks for coming along, hope you got home safe 👍

  4. And that certainly doesn't help either, especially being an old fart that remembers you being a wide eyed youngster accompanying his Ma, Pa and young sis around Curborough paddock 🤣

  8. I've not used one since the first term of university where they more or less made us use them before telling us to "throw them away" we'd never use one again, cause now we had computers!

  9. We’ll meet at the Golden Pheasant as usual this month, as the weather forecast seems a bit changeable on Tuesday, and I’ve not had chance yet to check the Swettenham Arms car park is fully restored, and critically, still as big as it was!! 7.30 pm, Thursday 3rd August!

  10. Didn't have the A/B buttons by that time, but I'd forgotten all about the "how to use a phone box" evening, at Cubs, I seem to remember getting a patch for my uniform sleeve!!

  11. I know what they are, but have never used one, or know how to use them. I think I only saw one a couple times at school, and that was being used by a teacher.

  13. I vaguely remember being at either Goodwood or Silverstone and being told (not quite accurately I believe) by my uncle that the driver who had just roared past had only one arm. Archie Scott-Brown. Elders may know about AS-B and when he was active.

  15. I was bundling along the M40 going home one summer's evening in the late 1970s when a Mercedes of some description shot past me well into three figures - as I was err, a bit over the posted limit and he made me look sluggish. My philosophy has long been that when someone is taking the Mick so obviously it is likely to bring out the unmarked cars. I dropped back from lane 2 into lane 1 and slowed to sixty-ish only to be passed like a flash of lightning by another German car clearly playing with the Merc. They clearly hadn't spotted the Renault 30 in their rear view but the two uniformed officers in the Renault had certainly got the pair of them in his viewfinder. The next thing I spotted was the second German car on the hard shoulder with the first one about a mile farther along being addressed by a nice policeman. Presumably the second car left on the hard shoulder had been told to sit tight or face the consequences. All jolly fun, what! Who knew Renault 30's were that fast? 2.7 litre V6 IIRC.

  17. Hi thanks for replying. 1992 xflow! Always nice to have a bit of old skool company and hopefully won’t leave me lagging behind too far 😉 i’m hoping to fit around everyone’s circumstances and if two cars turn up, that’s a bonus! I’m sure we can accommodate some season variance, locations to suit etc. we are starting from scratch and the idea is just to get cars out garages. I fall into the category of having a few spare hours some evenings and weekends but keen to make the most of them. taking the car out always gives me a buzz but life just gets in the way sometimes. So if the weather stays ok on the 10th I think we have a few who can make it. If I review who has said they can make it, then I’ll try to suggest a central point to meet. Hook isn’t too far away, especially as we Euan in Alton I think. We might even have a little convoy from point A to point B!! cheers Martin

  19. Where are you based? There are lots of motor factors around and I don’t know any who are trade only. I will be shocked if you are not near one. The biggest issue is they all use number plate parts systems and Westfields do not appear on them. You just need to come on here and we will guide you what the car it was fitted to. I retired from the aftermarket parts supply last year but sure I can advise without going on line. one company on line is good for oils Opie oils who have great stock of several makes and great service. Car Builder Solutions is great for many items a factor will not have.

  20. A Monday night in the country side👍. Hardly anyone around and the one guy that was, understood the memo kindly pulling in....why does this not happen more often😐

  21. Yes I’d need to ask for the exact amount as it was a package but I remember that the difference between the standard cover and adding on the 5-trackdays bundle was somewhere around £175-£200. Only need to do a couple of days to make it worthwhile.

  22. Hi, Following the great time we had on Tuesday (despite the rain!), we are already planning the next one! Four of us have already booked onto the track evening at Donington on 30th August 2023 so far with more to come. If you fancy joining us remember you can do it through the Javelin Trackdays site and take advantage of the WSCC members discount and save a few quid 👍 None of us are hard-core track fiends, we just go at our own pace and have a chuckle. Spectators are free and have access to the garages and pit wall if you just fancy coming along to watch. Obviously not an official WSCC event so please make sure you sort your own insurance etc. Hopefully see some of you there 👍
