  1. After 17 years of faithful service, my 05-plate Volvo S60 with 145k miles on it finally developed a fault that was potentially more expensive to fix than the car was worth, so it was off to the great breaker yard in the sky. Fast forward a few days and I’m negotiating a deal for a 20-plate Skoda Octavia at a dealership. The salesman is professional, respectful, intelligent, not smarmy and a painfully young 23 years-old. As the car will be registered in Lady Colonial’s name for total avoidance of Road Fund Duty (she has a blue badge and therefore gets a full break from it), he needs to speak with her by phone (she’s home, not wishing to be bored stupid by cars). I give the young salesman my home phone number and he calls her, uttering the immortal words as he does… ”I’ve never dialled a landline number before.” Twenty-three freaking years old! My heart sank.

  2. Doesn’t this sum up the folly of doing away with Traffic cops for ever more cameras. the officer saw you were going a bit fast and gave advice, he then dealt with a dangerous driver who a camera would not catch. Road safety has been let down by the relentless attack on speeding at the expense of sensible policing but the anti speed brigade makes too much money from the issue and several charities would not exist if it was not seen as the number 1 cause of accidents regardless of the truth

  4. We’ll meet at the Golden Pheasant as usual this month, as the weather forecast seems a bit changeable on Tuesday, and I’ve not had chance yet to check the Swettenham Arms car park is fully restored, and critically, still as big as it was!! 7.30 pm, Thursday 3rd August!

  5. Where do you guys get general spares from these days? All the little places have closed, and the last motor factor in the area seems to be trade only. Online, half the places seem to be a front for a German outfit with a terrible reputation for delivery times. The rest have names like WeSuckButWe'reCheap.co.uk which don't inspire confidence. Which leaves Halfords, who seem to alternate between being really good and really bad, and eBay, which is a lottery of genuine goods and counterfeit tat. Who'd have thought that buying an accessory belt would be so hard? David

  6. It's that time again for some beer, food and banter at the Clock Warehouse (DE72 2GL) for the monthly social! As usual we will park in the right hand car park and will be in the upstairs room at about 7pm. Hopefully the weather will be Westfield friendly 👍

  8. Alessandro makes a fair point on the app, especially, it’s much easier to be sure you’re ordering the correct thing if you have the makers part number first, when ordering electronics like sensors, COP etc that are used in multiple vehicle platforms. Straight forward stuff like brake line components, as long as you know a specific car model and year to use as a guide aren’t so bad. (I have a specific model/year Golf MK 4 spec’d on my account for instance, so I can order rear brake parts.) Whereas with the Denso COPs for the S2000 I got the correct part number needed from the S2Ki forum first, as the original Denso units Honda fitted were phased out a few years ago and replaced by a newer part number. The correct Denso items from Autodoc, in Denso brand packaging, were less than a third of the price Honda quoted to supply, at a discount, the same COP but in red Honda brand boxes. Theyre my go to now, for service parts, as long as I don’t need them next day.

  9. I did use AutoDoc a lot. Bought all the new sensors for the engine, electronic throttle body, belts, and a lot more. I personally find the interface confusing, that's why I try and find the part numbers beforehand, then search using them. I usually got my orders in a week time.

  10. Standard width 👍 edit: I say that on the understanding that you, as an experienced Westfield owner, fully comprehend the meaning of the word “standard” when used in relation to Westfield components 😁

  11. Bought my first Westfield from a fellow member of WSCC. Driven it a few times since collecting it on Thursday and I love it. I’m based in north Leicestershire and plan to track it at Donnington Park before the summer is out. I can’t wait to see how it really goes! Not had time to take my own photos yet so here’s one from the ad. It’s gone to a good home Steve 👍 Cheers all, Al

  12. Welcome from South Derbyshire, love the car 👍 Some of us are doing the track evening on the 30th August at Donington if you fancy coming along. It's a Javelin day so you also get a 5% discount (if you can't find the code drop me a DM and I'll send it to you). We do meets most weekends at places like the Superbike Factory, Sawley Marina, Peak District, Curborough, etc etc that you'll be mkre than welcome to come along to. We have a local chat group too, it's now got over 70 local kit owners in it (again, drop me a DM and I can add you) A few of our meets from 2022

  13. Evening ride after checking and tightening rear suspension bolts - both upper wishbones had little loose nuts (? Previously tightened as manuał says torques... Maybe worth use some loccite on those or nodlock washers ? Is this common issue in upper rear wishbones on Westfield ? Also rear diff mount was losse) Anyway what a joy after 2 weeks on holliday
