  1. After finding and purchasing a Westfield Way quicker than I expected I had no where to keep it and a garage was needed ! Now Wendy is tucked up in her new Garage I couldn't be happier ..... Now I need to go shopping for some racking and nice bits and pieces to make it a real Man cave !

  2. Another great Sunday Kent Area monthly ride out and breakfast. 11 cars. 90 miles, sunshine and no rain. Perfect end to July.

  3. Heading back home from Dartford to Crewkerne the other night in the tin top, a rather large black 4x4/truck roared up behind me on a dual carriageway section of the A303. I was travelling at a reasonable lick myself, and could not easily pull over to let him through as the left lane was busy. The traffic in front slowed a bit so he proceeded to repeatedly drop back then race up behind me to within about 6 inches of my bumper, flashing his lights, not pleasant. All I could do was maintain a steady pace and hope he didn’t actually ram me. After a while, I was able to pull into the inside lane safely and he overtook, then pulled in front and brake tested me; something I was fully expecting so was well prepared. This is where the story becomes more positive and faintly amusing. As he headed off towards a roundabout, a dark blue Volvo estate pulled alongside me, the passenger window came down and the guy indicated to me to slow down a bit ( I did say reasonable lick!) They then headed off keeping up with the truck but in a fairly subtle manner. As we came off the roundabout, there was a convenient lay-by and the blue lights came on the Volvo and Mr Big Truck was nicked! I made eye contact with the driver as he got out; I don’t like to gloat but it was a satisfying moment. I hope they did him for dangerous driving, as that’s what it was.

  4. Bought my first Westfield from a fellow member of WSCC. Driven it a few times since collecting it on Thursday and I love it. I’m based in north Leicestershire and plan to track it at Donnington Park before the summer is out. I can’t wait to see how it really goes! Not had time to take my own photos yet so here’s one from the ad. It’s gone to a good home Steve 👍 Cheers all, Al

  5. Not a model I've made, but one of me! I was scanned at the Slot Car Festival at Gaydon earlier this year and recieved this today. It was made by https://www.slottrackscenics.co.uk/ and although not their usual 1/32nd scale, I wanted 1/24th, I think they've done a great job, if a little scary.

  9. If anyone fancies laughing at my dodgy driving skills, I'll be on track at the Curburgring from 10am till 4pm (weather permitting of course). I managed to blag a cheap deal with the Abarth Club who were struggling to fill the places they needed (maybe a few places still available, drop me a DM of you're interested and want me to ask for you). Ollie will also be taking his Pheonix (some will have met him at Donington on the 18th July). Spectating is free as usual so if you want to see a Westfield MegaS2000 and an R1 engined Pheonix lap slower than some tarted up Fiat 500's then feel free to come along 😂

  13. Put up a hammock in the garden with sufficient strength to take my 18st weight! It was an amusing journey to get there! I started off with ropes, but found that the ones I had just stretched so I ended up on the ground each time. I resorted to some wire cable in the end. First time was a failure again as one of the clamps slipped, but once fully tightened it did hold perfectly well. I confess there is only about a foot to spare when I get in! Enough to enjoy a nice relax though, just need some sun now!

  23. Hand brake will be very poor, and eventually barely work. This is the problem with aftermarket calipers. They simply have nothing like the budget required to make a proper working handbrake in a hydraulic calliper. That's why so many of us that have Hi Specs etc have upgraded back to Golf or Sierra. You are correct about the weight though. A cautionary tale; once, while in a group of four, driving through a small town, and part way down a very steep hill. One of the cars slammed on the brakes with smoke coming from under the bonnet - the inlet manifold actually, oil in there had caught fire. we all stopped and started jumping out to help. It was at the point I realised I couldn't take my foot off the brake, as the awful after market calliper hand brake mechanism wouldn't hold the car on the hill. Even in gear and turning the front wheels into the curb, to try and use it as a wheel chock, I had to sit there helplessly, while everyone else helped our stricken friend. Fortunately, the amount of oil burning was small, and nothing else caught fire, so it was out shortly after without extinguishers being needed. But I'll never forget or forgive the utter helplessness those piles of 💩 for rear brakes left me in at that moment. Two of the other three cars in that group have also changed to Golf rear calipers from the Hi Spec.
