  2. Heading back home from Dartford to Crewkerne the other night in the tin top, a rather large black 4x4/truck roared up behind me on a dual carriageway section of the A303. I was travelling at a reasonable lick myself, and could not easily pull over to let him through as the left lane was busy. The traffic in front slowed a bit so he proceeded to repeatedly drop back then race up behind me to within about 6 inches of my bumper, flashing his lights, not pleasant. All I could do was maintain a steady pace and hope he didn’t actually ram me. After a while, I was able to pull into the inside lane safely and he overtook, then pulled in front and brake tested me; something I was fully expecting so was well prepared. This is where the story becomes more positive and faintly amusing. As he headed off towards a roundabout, a dark blue Volvo estate pulled alongside me, the passenger window came down and the guy indicated to me to slow down a bit ( I did say reasonable lick!) They then headed off keeping up with the truck but in a fairly subtle manner. As we came off the roundabout, there was a convenient lay-by and the blue lights came on the Volvo and Mr Big Truck was nicked! I made eye contact with the driver as he got out; I don’t like to gloat but it was a satisfying moment. I hope they did him for dangerous driving, as that’s what it was.

  6. Yep. Race Technology should be able to help you out. It's a known issue and they no provide sealing on new items if you advise it's going in an open top car. It shouldn't cost you anything. Dr. Martin Hill and Lorne Winburn both know me and should help you.

  9. Thanks to all that have replied and apologies for the slow response. I need to sort my notifications out! the fact people are mentioning newlands is great as that’s close to me in guildford and I know the area well. I’ll reply again later with a straw poll for dates and ideas. Sadly this morning I have to get up a ladder and paint some woodwork before it rains and the roofers arrive in the morning. Cheers Martin

  10. If anyone is visiting the North dales, North Yorkshire moors area, THIS is a must do route designed for driving. I've been doing this one since.. Well.. It was the last century! With longgggg fast flowing roads, amazing countryside which takes you from fields to open moorland. Some tight n twisty bits, and some big hill climbs. Plenty of fuel stops Plenty of food stops Plenty of touring stops if you want to explore more. You'll love it Scotland is great but far.. You can get a feel of it here without the 8hr just to get there. This is also a chance to drive the famous Helmsley to Great Broughton Chop Gate road... Very challenging. Tackle Sutton Bank, Clay Bank. Newgate bank to name a few Target time is around 3-4hrs plus stops. Enjoy! Anymore info message me

  11. SALE AGREED, Hi folks probably the toughest decision but here’s my westfield up for sale; Westfield Mazda SDV Iva’d and first registered in May 2018 and on a Q plate. Please note this is a great useable car not a show car and so has some blemishes. Mazda 1.6 2001 running gear, so really reliable and has done 2 euro trips plus many thousands of UK miles with no issues. The car has lowered floors, Q/R carbon steering wheel, carbon dash, carbon interior panels, carbon chassis rail covers, carbon headlight bowls, carbon indicator pods, carbon (discreet) rear diffuser, carbon front splitter ( mickmade), intatrim heated seats, led rear lights with flowing indicators , high level brake light, led headlights , half cage roll bar, lockable boot lid ( modified to suit half cage rear legs ), it has extra wide rear wings and 15” rota classic alloys with khumo ecsta tyres, colourmatched electric mirrors , quad lock phone mount, also comes with tonneau cover, wind deflectors, doors and a soft bits half hood with easy entry zips, Just had new rear callipers/ discs / pads. Bad bits There’s a couple of chips in the windscreen and a hairline crack on the tub behind the drivers right shoulder. Extras included a pair of std rear wings, scuttle and a pair of long wings ( all in white ) used windscreen . mot’d untill 23/11/23 Priced with the above in mind at £8500 Ovno Located in Speyside , north east Scotland , this will give a great entry westy with plenty of scope for the new owner to enjoy and make their own

  12. Put up a hammock in the garden with sufficient strength to take my 18st weight! It was an amusing journey to get there! I started off with ropes, but found that the ones I had just stretched so I ended up on the ground each time. I resorted to some wire cable in the end. First time was a failure again as one of the clamps slipped, but once fully tightened it did hold perfectly well. I confess there is only about a foot to spare when I get in! Enough to enjoy a nice relax though, just need some sun now!

  14. Went to the Lancia Motor Club gathering in Leamington Spa today….and saw the Monte Carlo I sold over 30 years ago. Gulp. And it’s still owned by the chap I sold it to. Regretted selling that car many times over the years. Sadly, he isn’t selling.

  16. Calling @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Out of the box, I seem to recall Ian finding the DASH2 didn’t have the extra sealing round the screen, leading to water getting in. Obviously, too late once the problem has happened, but if the drying out works, worth getting done.

  17. That's a huge bargain for such a tried and tested car. It wears it patina of thrills and fun with pride. GLWTS

  19. Morning. My brother is air traffic control at Tatenhill today so if he has time he will come to see you. Older (and fatter) version of me so you will recognise him. He has a plane there so again dependant on his workload, you could ask to take a up close look. No guarantees but worth asking!! Have fun.

  21. Well we did this on Weds/Thurs this week. Found a fab AirBnB with parking for the overnight stay. 508 miles in total for me, all the cars behaved faultlessly and the weather was, of course, superb for both days. Absolutely loved it.
