Heading back home from Dartford to Crewkerne the other night in the tin top, a rather large black 4x4/truck roared up behind me on a dual carriageway section of the A303. I was travelling at a reasonable lick myself, and could not easily pull over to let him through as the left lane was busy. The traffic in front slowed a bit so he proceeded to repeatedly drop back then race up behind me to within about 6 inches of my bumper, flashing his lights, not pleasant. All I could do was maintain a steady pace and hope he didn’t actually ram me. After a while, I was able to pull into the inside lane safely and he overtook, then pulled in front and brake tested me; something I was fully expecting so was well prepared. This is where the story becomes more positive and faintly amusing. As he headed off towards a roundabout, a dark blue Volvo estate pulled alongside me, the passenger window came down and the guy indicated to me to slow down a bit ( I did say reasonable lick!) They then headed off keeping up with the truck but in a fairly subtle manner. As we came off the roundabout, there was a convenient lay-by and the blue lights came on the Volvo and Mr Big Truck was nicked! I made eye contact with the driver as he got out; I don’t like to gloat but it was a satisfying moment. I hope they did him for dangerous driving, as that’s what it was.7 points

Good call. They gave 9% chance of a light shower this morning so out I went in a fleece, no waterproofs, and got drenched in a biblical level deluge between Matlock and home. Who knows what a forecast of 30% moderate rain showers would equate to tomorrow 😄 I am now steaming in the full sun in the back garden..... You have to love british summers.2 points

My mate at work booked to do the course but got the date wrong and turned up a day late, he told the instructor it was because he had really slowed down since getting the ticket! She was not impressed and told him he had to leave and re-book, and pay the fee again!2 points

Hi, Having just re-joined the WSCC after a few years away, I was wondering if there are other people in the Surrey area who would be interested in a regular meet up? A few years ago we had quite an active group, we had a monthly evening meet as well as Sunday morning runs. I think when the old AO moved away, it all went a bit quiet and a lot of people joined events with the SKCC club. They are a dedicated and active bunch but often start and finish some distance from Surrey. So if you live in the Surrey area and would like to use your car more, but maybe not before dawn on Sunday mornings then please pop you hand up and we can try and arrange something that suits all. cheers Martin1 point

Don't get me wrong here, I’m not trying to preach! Due to a closure of the M5, I was forced to go through the middle of Bristol, in torrential rain, at early O’clock to get to the airport. The unfamiliar roads, the horrendous conditions and the absurd number of times limits changed from 40 to 20 to 30 I was fully expecting to have been caught out at some stage. Somehow I wasn’t. It does feel at times as if the signage has been explicitly designed to catch drivers out. Makes me glad I live where I do and rarely have need to go anywhere near places like that.1 point

Thanks for the input @Phippsy, sorry I had missed your post before now. Good thoughts and well done on your sales. I understand the small market and am not in a huge rush to sell, so can hang fire for now, but will see how things go. At the moment, I can still make the most of enjoying the drive when the sun is out, which is fantastic. Thanks for you comments. I have just added some more photos of the engine bay. Cheers.1 point

I'm with Adrian flux/trinity and I pay £170 with 5 days included. The track XS is £1k and £500 on the road I just let them know when I'm on one. The only thing I would say is I have done it now for at least 4 years and when I started out with them it was more like £260 (which was expensive back then). It seems the longer it's gone on the more comfortable they are with it. No one can get near the price now with track included. I'm not saying that will be the case for everyone but that's my experience with track cover1 point

Just in case of any doubt, this includes both checking visually that everything is in place with no damage/wear, bent wishbones/rose joints etc. But also critically what you'll often hear called a spanner check. Physically checking with a spanner and wrench, that all nuts and bolts are still appropriately tight. Even perfectly standard Westfields just don't have all the bushes and NVH fixtures and fittings of a modern car, plus, relative to their weight, tyres and suspension are often stiffer, so even on the road, let alone the track, all the parts and fastenings tend to be subject to much more vibration than a modern car. Throw in heat either from pounding round a track all day heating tyres, brakes and engine/transmission up, which then heats up everything around it, or even just hot summer weather. And nuts and bolts can and will work loose occasionally. Hence the spanner checks! (This is also something worth doing periodically even just on road going Westfields. Depending how much it's used, once or twice a year, check nothings about to fall off!!)1 point

Typical, it's lovely weather in Leeds today, but who knows what it'll be like tomorrow.0 points
