  1. Hey it's great to be famous at last 😉. My first show with the finished car. Great to meet some other members on Sunday and see some of the cars. Many thanks to the organisers and committee members for making it happen again. Very well done.

  2. Hi, Having just re-joined the WSCC after a few years away, I was wondering if there are other people in the Surrey area who would be interested in a regular meet up? A few years ago we had quite an active group, we had a monthly evening meet as well as Sunday morning runs. I think when the old AO moved away, it all went a bit quiet and a lot of people joined events with the SKCC club. They are a dedicated and active bunch but often start and finish some distance from Surrey. So if you live in the Surrey area and would like to use your car more, but maybe not before dawn on Sunday mornings then please pop you hand up and we can try and arrange something that suits all. cheers Martin

  4. Went for a quick drive today now that I’ve sorted the closing straps out and yes, it does make a big difference 👍. I had the roof on too and it felt quite calm even at motorway speeds. Elbow room is a bit more restricted, even with the pockets (if that’s the right word) in the doors. Quite manageable though, so I’m pretty pleased with how it has turned out.

  5. @steve_klassi has become the proud owner of my much loved Westie. Very hard for Anna and myself to see it go, but I believe its in good hands.

  9. Much better weather today so the Westfield came out to play! Great to see everyone and the lovely cars on display. Loads more new people to speak to including new owners and people looking to buy and/or build 👍 Later in the day, I caught @Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AOtrying to have marital relations with a mahoosive blow up doll while @Glynn Walterswas whispering sweet nothings in her ear.... what happens at Newark, stays at Newark! 😂

  11. Hello all, Is anyone else gojng to Anglesey on Monday August 14th? I'm expecting to be there with a few friends in their not-Westfields for my first ever track day. Unless the weather is biblical maybe, as I don't fancy spanking a car I don't yet understand how to drive properly on its first track outing. Cheers, Barry

  12. One result of my little incident after Malvern was a sheared off exhaust bolt that looked tricky to get out. After some good advice from Adge, I ordered an Easy Out kit off eBay which arrived this week. I had sprayed the bolt with GT85 a few times during the week to hopefully make it easier to remove. I punched a mark as centrally as possible and then found it relatively easy to use the drill bit to put a hole all the way through, running the drill in reverse as the bits are reverse threaded. Access was a bit tricky, so I just got a pair of mole grips on the extractor and the sheared off part came out remarkably easily! Hurrah! Exhaust is now bolted back on securely and not blowing at all, so hopefully can go and have a gentle drive soon, next weekend most likely. Despite owning a Westfield for about 16 years in total, I’m still pretty clueless on doing anything much to it, so this counts as a win 👍👍

  13. This makes excellent reading, thank you to Martin and to those that have responded so enthusiastically. Martin is going to trial becoming the Area Organiser for Surrey so the more people that support him the better it will be, you can have an extra area that will be more local to you, great news.

  14. Well done, a great result. Very new to Westfields myself, but always very keen to learn how to do stuff myself, as like you, not that mechanically minded, but would love to be! At 67 I am never too old to learn, as long as getting underneath is not an option. 🤣🤣

  15. Well done. A tip if anyone else has this type of job to do. Stuff some rag down the ports to prevent any flying swarf getting in especially if on the inlet. Or masking tape over the head. Exhaust should just blow out. I'm restoring a Fiat coupe 16v turbo and changed the discs yesterday. Fiat use a tapered stud to retain the disc and locate wheel. All 8 sheared off 2 on each wheel. I was able to center the drill bit first through the old disc and managed to drill them all out and then run a tap down to clean the threads.

  16. Morning All, Hope you had a good weekend. I'm in the office all week if I can help anyone. 21. Been back today. Lovely to have no roof on. Display cars looked fabulous and attracting attention. Much more of a buzz overall and much busier. Public car park was nearly full when I left in time for my Sunday lunch at home!!

  22. We went in the tin top and it was very nice to see you all again. Emma enjoyed herself again and is starting to feel the westie vibes. Big thanks to all for the effort of setting everything up and sorry the weather stopped a lot turning up. Also big thanks to westfield stand and the guys having a great talk with us. Emma loved her free bag and was amazed when i told her that she was talking with the owner. Cheers martin. Ps. Will be in touch Rob about getting some Cambridgeshire / Norfolk westies and sevens to meet up with you guys.

  23. The company was fantastic on the WSCC stand and it is always nice to have a chat with the guys at the Westfield factory, what a shame more people did not support this event. Rain, it is just ruddy water, it evaporates and you won't shrink. Well done to all the others that came along and ate all the cake with us, much respect to you. Hedley, I am still laughing at the 'V8' comment in the hall😮

  24. Great to see everyone today! Huge thanks to @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinatorand everyone who helped yesterday and today. Those that know me will be amazed to hear the weather beat me and I went in the tintop (hangs head in shame 😂). Kudos goes to those with the kahoonas to make the trip! The hall was better this year with Westfield Chesil, MK, XCS, Quantum amongst others. Martyn managed to get his stunning (and amazingly clean!) car on the Westfield Chesil stand. Big thanks to Nigel and Simeon for allowing a club car on the stand 👏 @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative getting her top off despite the rain 😂 This was a great opportunity to try and spot some dirt on Rita.... I'm glad to say we found a small speck on the master cylinder (Glen, you are slipping! 😂) The forecast is looking a lot better tomorrow so I'm hoping to take the Westie! Hope to see some of you there 👍
