The company was fantastic on the WSCC stand and it is always nice to have a chat with the guys at the Westfield factory, what a shame more people did not support this event. Rain, it is just ruddy water, it evaporates and you won't shrink. Well done to all the others that came along and ate all the cake with us, much respect to you. Hedley, I am still laughing at the 'V8' comment in the hall😮11 points

Lovely to see everyone today. I think the show would have been really good if the weather had been favourable. Either way a good social with like minded people. A special mention for @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinatorfor all of his efforts in fetching and organising all of the ‘stuff’. Respect.10 points

Great to see everyone today! Huge thanks to @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinatorand everyone who helped yesterday and today. Those that know me will be amazed to hear the weather beat me and I went in the tintop (hangs head in shame 😂). Kudos goes to those with the kahoonas to make the trip! The hall was better this year with Westfield Chesil, MK, XCS, Quantum amongst others. Martyn managed to get his stunning (and amazingly clean!) car on the Westfield Chesil stand. Big thanks to Nigel and Simeon for allowing a club car on the stand 👏 @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative getting her top off despite the rain 😂 This was a great opportunity to try and spot some dirt on Rita.... I'm glad to say we found a small speck on the master cylinder (Glen, you are slipping! 😂) The forecast is looking a lot better tomorrow so I'm hoping to take the Westie! Hope to see some of you there 👍8 points

We went in the tin top and it was very nice to see you all again. Emma enjoyed herself again and is starting to feel the westie vibes. Big thanks to all for the effort of setting everything up and sorry the weather stopped a lot turning up. Also big thanks to westfield stand and the guys having a great talk with us. Emma loved her free bag and was amazed when i told her that she was talking with the owner. Cheers martin. Ps. Will be in touch Rob about getting some Cambridgeshire / Norfolk westies and sevens to meet up with you guys.5 points

A really amazing job today from all involved, Marcus and the team for managing the event and getting it all together, and all those that came along, whether by Westfield or tin top. Shame we didn’t have great weather, but i don’t think the occasional rain dampened the atmosphere or everyone’s enthusiasm too much! Fingers crossed for tomorrow.5 points

Not much progress to show for the last couple of weeks as I’ve been very busy with work but I did manage to get the screen finished and some colour on the bodywork. my pushing team suggested I needed something a bit bolder than plain red so I’ve gone for a bright camo vinyl wrap. there’s a few bits to finish on the nose cone before it’s fitted but I’m almost there and ready for testing.4 points

This has been on my list of things to do for ages, but had to take second place to sorting my exhaust out which I managed to finish this morning. I wanted the doors to be hinged so that I can get in and out with the half hood on, so ages ago I ordered some stainless steel fittings from a Marine Chandlery shop. They took months to arrive, but when they did I could see that they would do the trick. I also picked up a Rivnut gun and suitable Rivnuts to take the hinge fittings. I want to be able to remove the doors and fittings easily so that when the weather is set fair for a while I can go back to fully open. Anyway, to cut a long story short it basically all works. I made a mess of the first two rivnuts as I didn’t know what I was doing but with a bit of tidying up they will be fine, they are fixed firmly so all is good. The main downside to the fittings I’ve used is that they stand the door away from the bodywork a bit, leaving a gap for the wind to come in. To close that, I’ve fitted some trim from Woollies which works really well. All that is left for these is a little strap and popper to hold them closed. They seal up perfectly when pulled in so should be just what I wanted. Last job was to fit the old Caterham wind deflectors I had on it before. The hinge fitting holes had been sealed up, so I had to re drill those but they have gone on very well and sit nicely against the front edge of the doors. They have the added benefit of stopping the doors swinging right the way open so it all works well 👍👍 Apologies for so many pictures!1 point

I know we're in Flori-duh here but I think I would have mounted a stronger defence similar to the plot of the film "The Man Who Sued God"... That police statement is epically good though. The guy should write sci-fi novels BEFORE he goes to rehab... 😄1 point

My favourite experience on that front was long ago in California. I worked my way through a knot of freeway traffic and saw the road at the front was wide open, and as I was driving a 1966 Shelby 350 GT, it would have been rude not to stick my toe down. As I did, I discovered why the road was open - a CHP car on the right, which I only noticed after I blew his light bar off the roof. Instant disco of course, and I pulled over straight away like a good boy. Eventually, he walked up to my window and said, “Nice car. Do you know you were doing 80mph?” I looked him straight in the eye and said in all seriousness, “That’s impossible. I haven’t even been out for an hour.” He looked back at me, blinking his eyes a few times before finally responding, “Nope - not heard that one before. Slow down.”, then returning to his car and driving off. 😎1 point

IMHO speed traps are purely there to raise money and have little or nothing to do with safety1 point

Back on it again this week. Looking at the bonnet I felt it didn’t quite look complete and needed a small windscreen. I cut and folded a strip of aluminium to make a mounting and then ran it through the rollers to put a slight curve on it to match the profile of the bonnet. I then used a scrap piece of aluminium to mock up a small screen and get a shape I liked. once happy I then cut the screen from 2mm polycarbonate and riveted it to the aluminium mount.1 point
