Just over 200 miles under the belt today 😎 We had a couple of early morning glitches Wayne had a coolant pipe leak and Jim had a loose steering column, both quickly fixed and onward to Luxenbourg 🙂 We enjoyed a nice scenic route through Luxembourg including up a cycle path when Paul was leading 😅 On into Germany and we’ve arrived at a hotel stop for two nights near the Nurburgring 🙂4 points

I'm with Adrian flux/trinity and I pay £170 with 5 days included. The track XS is £1k and £500 on the road I just let them know when I'm on one. The only thing I would say is I have done it now for at least 4 years and when I started out with them it was more like £260 (which was expensive back then). It seems the longer it's gone on the more comfortable they are with it. No one can get near the price now with track included. I'm not saying that will be the case for everyone but that's my experience with track cover2 points

Few small nuts, bolts and washers for things like wing stays etc? Self amalgamating tape possibly and some electrical wire? Although you could probably get some in France if required. You can guarantee whatever you take you won’t need, and vice versa! Enjoy, looking forward to the magazine article 😀.2 points

220 miles under the belt today on route to Germany somebody was having a laugh first thing spot the party trick 🙃 the route took us on some barely new tarmac !!! stopped for lunch on the outskirts of Paris unfortunately we were split up on route to the hotel (no blame mentioned 😂) but all eventually rendezvous at the hotel with a tricky car park ramp to negotiate 😅2 points

Thanks @Nick Algar it’s something I note but not observe any more. I’ve got dual nationality but lived here almost 10 years longer than I lived in the States, so it’s difficult for me personally to feel one nationality or the other. I guess that makes me a bit of a mongrel! 😂 The air traffic controllers in the States working today have a unique way of getting their own back. On the 4th of July, they greet the pilots of British Airways flights with “Happy Traitors Day”. 😂1 point

I was actually largely dry - apart from the right shoulder which always catches the spray... Until I had to wait outside the child minder's for a quarter of an hour. During which it went from just "rain" to Noah casting off. I got home, got changed and got a second soaking with the dogs. Off to the pool now - good job I like water.1 point

Apparently my Cat didn’t like seeing a series of consecutive 9k rpm overtakes, after a week of pass bashing, and decided to start failing big time. By the time it came to getting off the ferry, it was building so much back pressure, it just kept popping the link pipe and silencer off. Not knowing why, initially, as it came off on the ferry hatch so thinking it had just caught, we tried refitting but it didn’t last too long. After the second or third go, now convinced it was at least part blocked. Plan B was hatched, and the last ninety minutes or so of driving were done, with ahem, an open manifold. My ears have only just stopped ringing. To be fair to the car, the cat has done amazingly to survive this long. I was one of a tiny number of Westfield owners to have a faulty ecu loom. So way back in 2015 or so, whenever initial start up was, I had a weird misfire that ended up causing the whole cat to glow white hot, with the shape of the converter core itself, clearly visible through the near “transparent” stainless casing!1 point

Yes, very simple job if you have access to a ball joint splitter. The most difficult part will be getting things lined up again but if your are careful with measuring and marking it won't be a problem to get it good enough to get you to somewhere or someone that can get the alignment spot on for you.1 point

No it's not Barry. The reason for wanting an old one is that they can be rebuilt with quality Quaife QR internals for the same money as a Rally Design version.1 point

We went out for a late meal, first restaurant refused us entry it was quite posh and I had a bright orange 2012 Stoneleigh helper T shirt on which probably didn’t help😅 second restaurant was a 24 hour pizza place which ended up being a roadside vending machine so gave it a miss 😆 Mission accomplished found a cafe bar and we had streak and @Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO had chicken supreme with a massooosive pepper mill 😆1 point

Arriving back at Tagg Lane for the debrief. When is a Westfield not a Westfield, when it's van. It was raining, what vehicle were we supposed to come in? the MX5 is awaiting clips after an altercation with a field at the weekend, so the van it was. First over the finish line was Andy, he was also the driest! I hope that is rain ingress and not an egress The cakes flowed in true Peak District style And ice creams too Drying off Bye bye What a fabulous, soooooper, exciting time you guys have had. A big thank you for sharing your photo's and stories with us so we can taste just a little bit of the best flavour, excitement!1 point

It looks like we won't be able to get my Dad's car to Newark, unless someone wants to be generous and bring it up for us 😅 So, since we would like some Speed Series representation at the event, are there any other Speed Series competitors that would like to bring their car along, it would be great to have you!1 point

A few more recent images, some of the Moon, Venus and a recent large Active Region on the Sun. This shows a feature called Schröter’s Valley and the bright crater is Aristarchus. This one below shows two features called the Lunar X and V, highlighted in the next image. This one is of Venus showing around half phase. Finally a very large and detailed Active Region on the Sun. It was big enough to show a a black dot when viewing the Sun with eclipse glasses. Through a decent solar scope it was amazing, about ten earth diameters across I think.1 point

A-Plan do 1 day track day cover (as do others), expect to pay around £100 depending on the value of your car. I changed my policy to include 5 track days per year as its far more cost effective. I just ring A-Plan a few days before and I'm covered 👍1 point

I don't know how I feel about this yet, but needs must and we need to free up some money to use elsewhere. 2021 Westfield Westfield · Other_body_style · Driven 2,500 kilometres LIKE NEW! £17,995 happy to discuss offers This car was bought by my dad from the original builder on 80 miles, with my father only driving it 3 times! The car was built with entirely new parts including a new 2.0l crate Zetec blacktop engine. I'm located in Lincoln, and am a regular club attendee at local drive outs in the Peak district area, so a lot of the club management know this car well. Extras Widetrack front end OMEX 600 ECU Half roll cage (seen fitted in most of the pictures) Upgraded brakes Hubcentric rear spacers. Cabin + windscreen Heater Heated windscreen Speedo with 0-60 and lap metrics Heated windscreen Fully carpeted Cobra seats Upgraded colour coded arch stay bolt kit Recent oil & coolant change after initial engine run in.
