I feel I can finally add a picture justifiable for this thread..... Tax ran out in 2007 and it was used as an expensive storage system gather dust after being built by myself only 5 years previously to that. Used as our wedding car in 2004 and then the purchase of a house in need of love and attention in 2005 meant it was put to one side whilst we renovated the house, and then daughter no 1 followed by no 2 came along and finally I got my mojo back and here we are....she is reincarnated!!!!!! I'm biased but I absolutely love the blue and the photos do no justice for the actual colour 😎. Oh by the way, I still fit in the same Westfield Race seat (just about😅). MOT booked for a week tomorrow 🤞8 points

@Mark Redpath - WSCC Membership Secretary will be issuing his report at the AGM next week that will have the number, but it will probably be in that region. It’s interesting to note that number compared to the number of Westfields taxed and on the road during Q2 & Q3 the last few years, pre- and during Covid. Considering there’s 1.2k - 1.3k Westfields taxed and on the road, it means roughly 70-80% of those owners are club members - a pretty good reach.7 points

Glorious sunshine today at the Curburgring, I even got my lily white legs out! 😲 I was first to arrive, before Ash, Glynn, Steve, Tony and Lee landed. The track action was interrupted when one of the Supermoto riders highsided on the exit of Woodside. Sadly it appears he dislocated his kneecap meaning we had to wait for an ambulance so he could be taken to hospital... fingers crossed he's OK! We took the opportunity to have a wander in the paddock to admire the machinery. 180bhp in 135kg... not sure who's braver, the rider or his wife who has two handles to cling to! This was another brave/bonkers husband and wife team.... Loads of other interesting bikes, trikes and sidecars Walking back up to the car park, we were passed by a Westfield we didn't recognise... never to let an opportunity to stalk a Westie owner pass me by, I overcame my natural shyness (😂) and went to introduce myself. Turns out I'd met Rich last year when he owned a red zetec turbo car, but he'd recently swapped to this lovely XE turbo with about 260bhp. Being based in Derby, we all invited him to join the WSCC and our local chat group, hopefully he'll join us on a Peaks meet soon!5 points

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman your saying there’s someone shorter than @HB46443? On a seat adjusting note though I had some channel made so Hedley could reach the pedals and see over the aero screen of his car , they moved the seat runners 40mm forward and 30mm higher , great for the little guy but I didn’t look to see if the taller driver could still fit ! Both retired so can’t quite comply, but Vickie has used her Westy 4 times this week, which is almost a record.2 points

I am finally selling my Westfield SEIW as I simply haven’t had the time to use it over the last few years. The car was built and registered in 2006 (on a “06” plate) and has been owned by me since December 2012. Power comes from a 1.8 Ford Zetec engine, with Jenvey throttle bodies, there’s an Omex ECU, a fabulous short shift gearbox and a wonderfully sounding Oneoff exhaust. The result is a super quick car with a great soundtrack. The car was originally set up by Northampton Motorsport. Team Dynamics alloy wheels with Toyo R888s (including the unused spare) all with plenty of tread due to very limited use and mileage over the last few years. The car is finished in a lovely shade of blue. There is a very handy locking boot, plus a pair of slot-in deflectors, as well as the Westfield side screens, full weather gear and a very useful tonneau. Only ever used on the road in the last 10 years. The odometer reads 6,315 miles since the car was built and registered. Last MOT with no advisories in October 2022. The car runs, drives and stops just as a Westfield should. £10,0001 point

Thanks Terry, would be great to have a “club” Blyton day again as they were always something to look really forward to and always a fun and friendly day on track.1 point

My Q doesn’t even register as existing 🤣 …apologies for thread drift, but thought it might be important to understand if it’s even remotely possible to get a Ulez Westy 👍1 point

What a transformation, you've effectively built two great cars! Just make sure you keep using it now! I hope it all goes well.1 point

How many would you need? I'm sure we'd get some good interest from my area (me included) for a weekend event1 point

Yep I agree! We often forget just what fantastic little cars we have and how lucky we are to be able to own and drive one! I go into my garage every single day just to smell the eau de Westie. And it's such an intoxicating smell! Yummy!1 point

Thanks 😊 Without being melodramatic…. NO! 😱 No point risking your eyes with something not certified for the job. Entry point would be some solar eclipse glasses. Sometimes spots are big enough to be seen with those, potentially the one shown in my image might be one. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/solar-filters/baader-solar-eclipse-observing-glasses.html If you have binoculars or a telescope and some Blue Peter skills (pretty much guaranteed on this forum as a minimum I should think! 🤣), then buy some of this solar film and follow the instructions to make a cardboard holder for it. Make sure it is secure and can’t fall off or blow off, and make sure you cover every optical opening ie both binocular front lenses (objectives) and cover any finder scopes etc. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/solar-filters/baader-astrosolar-safety-film-nd-50.html Looking through an unprotected scope or binoculars at the Sun will blind you instantly so it’s not to be taken lightly, though perfectly safe if done methodically and carefully. Always make sure children are supervised, and never leave a scope unattended out in the Sun. Fires have been started through stray sunlight reflecting off curved optics and being focused onto something flammable! Remember the Walkie Talkie building melting cars? 🤪 https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/walkie-talkie-skyscraper-to-be-fitted-with-permanent-sunshade-after-it-melted-cars-9379037.html Now is a good time because the Sun is in a more active phase, approaching solar maximum in a few years which is why you may have seen reports of Aurorae being visible in the UK. Hopefully that will happen more before it starts to decline again as I missed it this time. Do ask if anyone needs any more info, I’ve been doing solar observing for years so can help or advise, or even show you through a scope if you happen to be in Crewkerne on a sunny weekend 😊☀️🌞🕶️1 point

Not fully in the spirit, but as a home worker, and part-time at that, this is the best I could do this week. Car sits forlornly in its garage awaiting a refurb of the latter. But some good weekend trips booked for it including Malvern on the Saturday followed immediately by Brooklands for the London to Brighton.1 point
