  1. I feel I can finally add a picture justifiable for this thread..... Tax ran out in 2007 and it was used as an expensive storage system gather dust after being built by myself only 5 years previously to that. Used as our wedding car in 2004 and then the purchase of a house in need of love and attention in 2005 meant it was put to one side whilst we renovated the house, and then daughter no 1 followed by no 2 came along and finally I got my mojo back and here we are....she is reincarnated!!!!!! I'm biased but I absolutely love the blue and the photos do no justice for the actual colour 😎. Oh by the way, I still fit in the same Westfield Race seat (just about😅). MOT booked for a week tomorrow 🤞

  6. As we've done for the last few summers, we'll be moving the regular meet to the Tuesday of the same week. This is so we can take in the excellent Swettenham Arms Classic Car meet. (Subject to weather). For those who want to take the short run over to the Swettenham Arms in a group, we will meet at the Golden Pheasant at 7pm, hopefully getting away before 7.30pm so that we don't miss the early runners and riders at Swettenham. The Swettenham meet typically features a huge range of cars, from vintage, through classic 50's/60's/70's/80's stuff, through Lotus all the way up to current cars, Caterham's, and of course, being this area of Cheshire, more than the occasional Ferrari and Porsche, we even have one chap who sometimes brings his Jaguar XJ220!! I appreciate for some, getting to the Pheasant that early can be tricky, so of course, you can always meet us directly at the Swettenham Arms. https://swettenhamarms.co.uk/ The Swettenham Arms, Swettenham Lane, Congleton, Cheshire, CW12 2LF

  7. Yep I agree! We often forget just what fantastic little cars we have and how lucky we are to be able to own and drive one! I go into my garage every single day just to smell the eau de Westie. And it's such an intoxicating smell! Yummy!

  10. My son also has trouble getting comfortably close to pedals etc and we've wondered about either getting a carting seat insert or even trying using the plastic bag and expanding foam route to make a custom seat insert. Re different seat's it's going to be a measure your cockpit and then compare with seat specifications from the different specialist suppliers. If you can't reach the pedals and steering wheel comfortably then belts don't really come into play. Inertia vs harness should only really impact on access to switch gear or easing visibility and movement. Switch gear can be move closer and at times I do need to realease my harnesses a little to aid visibility (adjustment ease is key in that case) Good luck with the search.

  20. Hi, I'll be doing the normal convoy up on Sunday morning. We will meet at the A38/A50 services (DE65 6DX) at 845am for a 9am departure, aiming to land at the Whitworth Centre for 10am. We will be taking the B roads as much as possible and avoiding the Matlock traffic. Feel free to join us if you're coming that way 👍

  23. Oh, and you're correct, those aren't Sport Turbo's, they're Westfield Sports seats. They can be slightly tricky to fit, as the runners are not one unit on each seat, they have separate left and right runners for each one, so it's easy to bolt them in slightly misaligned, and find you aren't getting full travel, in fact sometimes if bad, the seat won't slide at all. You may find, just spacing the runners up, by say 20mm, possibly moving them slightly further forward at the same time, clears the floor and chassis cross member better, and perhaps in conjunction with tweaking the pedals makes a world of difference. PS the key thing isn't unusual. In a previous Westfield with race seats, I couldn't reach the key either once strapped up. I'm 6'1" with somewhat gorilla like arms!!

  24. I have similar problems with our daily cars, my wife is 5ft 4 and I'm 6ft 5.... fortunately she has no desire to drive the Westfield!

  25. This isn't the first time that we've had this problem. She couldn't reach the pedals on a Ford Fiesta. The salesman's brilliant solution was for her to wear platform shoes...

  26. If they are Sport Turbos then you may be able to improve their fit/operation for yourselves, in a couple of ways: (Excuse the poor phot, couldn't find many with the mechanism showing - note this one isn't exactly the same as the Sport Turbo, though it's made by the same people, the comments still apply) Firstly, many of us take the orange marked adjuster lever off and shorten it - it was designed to use with the seats when they have an optional knee support fitted, so can be quite long - you tend to stand on it a lot quite apart from anything else. From memory, it just slots into the mechanism under the seat, so you just trim those back bits down and re-fit. Secondly, you can see the two front spacer tubes, circled in yellow, these can be removed, and either shortened, or swapped for some slightly shorter length tube and bolts. Obviously, this isn't something that can be quickly changed when swapping drivers, so a bit of experimentation to find a "common" height that works for you both would be needed

  27. There's no standard or commonly used Westfield seat that has an adjustable rake in the conventional sense, I'm afraid. There are a few that either have mounting brackets pre-drilled for different angles, but then they don't slide either, or some, like the Sport Turbo, that have spacers in the front between the seat and the sliding base, to get the right angle. A few members over the years have added longer spacers and bolts to get greater rake, I guess you could do the opposite, too. It is a tricky one, and there's not that easy a solution, if temporary things like cushions/supports of some kind won't do it. Fitting inertia reels is very do-able, though the precise process will differ depending on type of body work and age of car. From your original post, I'm wondering if you have the none-lowered floors, ie, the whole floor of the cockpit, steel tubes aside is flat? If that is the case, then the seats are bolted through the aluminium, but underneath, there are two steel straps running side to side, the seats go through these as well, and they're not that wide, so re-positioning the seats isn't so straightforward, without modifying or re-locating the straps, too. It can certainly be done though. I'd definitely recommend coming to the Nat Kit Car show at Malvern, normally, so you can try alternate seat types, but obviously understand the distance issue! Your best alternative otherwise, is to try and get to some more local meets; you won't have anything like the same number of cars in one place, of course, but if you can find a few different seat examples, perhaps you can both try them? (In general, we're a really friendly bunch, that likes nothing more than talking about our cars and demonstrating stuff!!) What you may find, is that some of the styles of seat, like the GRP or Carbon, shell seats, seat you in such a way that you're sort of rotated around slightly, your shoulders and head go further back, while your hips and bum are further forward. This does bring your legs and feet closer in to the pedals, for any given seat position. Of course, because your head and shoulders are further back, reaching the wheel comfortably in the stock position can become impossible, BUT, that bit is really easy to sort out - bolt in spacers for the steering wheel to fine tune it's position are reasonably commonly available at specialists and by mail order, and not too expensive, (certainly compared to car mods). These type of shell seat are also a common mod for taller drivers, as by rotating your body round a tad, they do also get your head a little lower in the car.

  28. Just as a note for why we don't; members frequently use old sales threads as a valuable resource in their own right, they can be useful for giving price indicators for a start, as knowing how to price something is always tricky. They can be handy sources of pictures and info in general on particularly parts and even cars, for how things fit together. But, the significant one; we are constantly bombarded with stories of on-line scams etc to the point where many have a very, very heightened awareness of anything around adverts. And the deletion/removal of them, even just hiding them, is a red flag for many. It makes them distrustful of the advert that was there, but from our point of view, even worse, it can make them distrustful of the platform the advert is even on. Us, the Club. So all we ask, is once an item is sold, please just add the word SOLD to the title, that's it, no further action needed.

  29. After about three months' time waiting for the seller to return to Italy from a work obligation overseas, we finally closed the deal on the SE on Thursday the 11th in Sarnico. My wife and I booked a lovely B&B for the night at an agriturismo, and headed back to Modena (180 km distant) on Friday. The car is an '88 SE, shows ~3000 miles, well-constructed (factory job?), and drove and ran flawlessly. Thanks to seller Fabio, who was friendly, cheerful, and patient. This was a painless transaction!! Now I have four cars and only a two car garage. Our flawless '03 BRG Jag X Type will have to go with only 76K on the clock. The Westie will share garage space with my '08 Quattroporte while the Glamour Red '06 S-Type "R" is relegated to street parking. This is already looking like fun--too much fun for a 75-year-old California transplant? Nope. Don't call me Gramps, OK?

  33. Good meeting this morning with Breakfast outside in the sun. 7 cars made it out and had a run over to the NY500 in Pickering. Trying to avoid the A64 as much as possible, we only hit some traffic coming into Stamford Bridge. Had to stop along the way, as someone who shall remain nameless, had to stop at a pub for a wee. Des'n'Debs soon caught us up and we headed for Malton. Frank joined us at the NY500 with grandson Finn, ice cream was had and the air ambulance made an appearance. Fund raising, not working. A stop for fuel in Pickering and on to Helmsley, well 7 of us did. We left @Mr C, Andy filling up. Sorry, I'm sure you didn't need any! From Helmsley and on to York and then home.

  37. It took me a long time to be able to attend my first meet, and hopefully working arrangements will mean I can be there on a more regular basis. Great to see a lineup of essentially the same cars but every single one bearing its owners stamp in terms of mods, fixtures, fittings and innovation! Attached is a pic of the new head I'm working on - pressure and vacuum tested, skimmed and honed to bed in the new Kent Fast road cams and bearing caps. Cheers D

  39. I had a lovely trip out planned to Bicester: loads of other toy cars, bacon sarnies, sunshine, maybe even an ice cream. That was not to be, but at least the recovery guy turned up with his matching truck and outfit on.
