  1. As long as a “political” post didn’t breach any of the forum rules, I can’t see any reason for it ever being moderated, whether it was popular/unpopular, far right, far left etc. Its your view and you’re entitled to it and to explain it, as far as I’m personally concerned, whether I agree with the view or not. It’s that old (fashioned) concept for me; I might not agree with what you’re saying, but I’ll fight tooth and nail for you have the freedom to say it. This does not apply one iota, to ANY post I’ve ever read of yours, Chris, but… for others, that’s not to say that if a post strongly appeared to be trolling/fishing and trying to provoke others , without itself clearly crossing the line, it wouldn’t have the whole mod team watching closely! Though it would perhaps be more likely to see a thread locked than posts hidden.

  3. Carbon zk nose Put some graft into this in the last 48 hours but the tooling is now complete! These are a mega style nose which have a deeper lower section to accommodate a oil cooler these fit in an identical way to a standard Zk nose Normally sketch with me Prepreg so light and strong this one in the picture has been clear coated but available uncoated for the more serious peddler who is looking to save every gram .

  4. Hi everyone, the first of our usual two track days per year is on Friday, May 5th 2023. The format for this event will be the same as the last September one. Please read all of the details below and contact me as requested please. Also, please read the following disclaimer: ** To save the WSCC from any liability issues I have to let you know that the Curborough track days have been booked by Warwickshire Area Organisers independently (as they have been for the last 15 years) and are not therefore organised or sanctioned by the Westfield Sports Car Club. ** As usual we are keeping it to only 15 cars, with first choice on the limited number of places to Warwickshire Area WSCC members, then followed by the wider WSCC membership. If all the places are not filled, I will post it on the Warwickshire Area Facebook page and accept non-WSCC members to make up the numbers. I have arranged to have the on-site cafe provide us with food and drinks for the day instead of my BBQ. Clearly there is an additional cost for this, so the fee has been adjusted accordingly. The cost this time will be £90 per car/driver, if all 15 places are filled. Any additional driver/passenger will be £16 to cover food (if required). I intend to open the gates around 9am, the track will open at 10am, with lunch from 1pm until 2pm and finishing at 5pm. The proposed fee will cover all the costs but any surplus will be donated to the appropriate WSCC charity (Air Ambulance). However, if we cannot fill all the places then I will have to ask for additional funds to cover the cost of the hire. Ideally, I would like to see all monies paid by the end of April. These track days are often oversubscribed therefore we will keep a reserve list in case of last minute withdrawals, but if places are not filled, refunds for non-attendance cannot be guaranteed. Please follow the instructions below; 1. Send me a PM with your full name and email address 2. Pay the full balance by bank transfer to the details I return to you, ASAP please 3. Read the track hire rules sent to you 4. Read the menu below and indicate a lunch preference Menu Breakfast - bacon & egg or sausage & egg sandwiches Lunch - Burger & chips or curry & chips Drinks - tea, coffee & squash available all day (Other items may be purchased from the cafe on the day) Finally, due to the requirements of managing the track entrance I could do with at least one assistant who is prepared to attend and help with organising without driving or alternatively a few drivers to give up driving time to assist. Please message me if you wish to volunteer. This is always a great day and a safe way to explore the limits of your car and yourself with only one car on the circuit at a time. If you need any more information on this event, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I will add names to this list as they are booked - NO PLACES AVAILABLE: 1. Justin Lever 2. Andrew Gilbert 3. Rob Hunter 4. Mike Williams 5. Geoff Hall 6. Nick Mucklow 7. James Race 8. Tony Shakeshaft 9. David Burr 10. Ken Shuker 11. Paul Medhurst 12. Ian Heawood 13. Andrew Rowley 14. Greg Blair 15. 6. Hi, I'm somewhat reluctantly advertising my Westfield for sale. I've admitted to myself that I want to dip my toe in to the world of BEC's. It was built by a fairly wealthy retired chap in 2010 who had something of a 'gentleman racer' fantasy with the idea that he'd have a car that he could drive to the track, race and then subsequently drive home. As far as I know that idea remained something of a fantasy throughout his ownership, it never saw a starting line but he did build a really good car. Four years ago I wasn't really looking to buy a Westfield, just casually browsing the forum and stumbled across an advert for this car, once I'd viewed it, I realised it was too well built to miss out on and ended up buying it. The car is built on a 2010 Aerorace chassis power by a Zetec blacktop that was brand new at build date, the most recent rolling road graph I have shows 232bhp at the flywheel and 212bhp at the wheels Full Specification 2010 Aerorace chassis with removable rear arches (chassis marginally lighter and stiffer than the road chassis of the same period) fully road legal and the same dimensions as the standard SEIW. 11000 miles It has an MOT for another 9 months. Black bodywork with carbon front arches, in very good but not unmarked condition. In that spec at the last setup session with about 1/2 tank of fuel it weighed just under to 572g. Engine Built in 2010 with new Zetec Blacktop Head ported and polished by CNC heads and matched with their specification cam. Following this link ( http://www.cncheads.co.uk/?p=755 ) takes you to the website the tuner provides on this head and cam combination for more info, extrapolating the power claims CNC make ( 215bhp @ 6400rpm and 247 bhp @ 8200rpm) to the 7500rpm limit on this car fairly accurately supports the claimed power output on this engine. Arrow engineering buckets ARP rod bolts Balanced and polished crank Standard Zetec flywheel machined and lightened by CNC Heads Raceline sump Omex 600 ECU Jenvey throttle bodies Bosch green injectors Simpson Race Exhausts aluminium manifold 4 into 2 into 1 ( http://simpsonraceexhausts.com/manifolds/ ) Westfield carbon silencer Bespoke breathers all feeding into aluminium catch tank in the nose cone, although very little oil ever gets blown into the tank. Most importantly lots of time and effort spent mapping the engine. Despite it's relatively high state of tune it starts easily hot or cold, idles nicely and is generally very drivable and tractable with no grumpiness or nasty flat spots. In the interest of longevity the limiter is set at 7500 rpm at which point the power curve is still climbing. It also makes some lovely burbles and pops on the overrun. Centroid fuel sender which gives a better accurate fuel level reading. Cooling NEW black Aluminium race radiator from Radtec with 60mm core and Aerorace ducting ( http://radtec.co.uk/products/331/Vauxall-Ford-Cosworth.htm ) Custom pipe work and thermostat housing which ensures this car never has the cooling issues some Zetec Westfield suffer from, coolant temp is rock solid in both traffic and in hard use on track Drivetrain Helix fast road clutch Rebuilt Sierra 3.92 LSD, no clunks or play and locks up nicely but not too aggressively. I actually prefer this diff to the ATB I had in a previous car, although it's not quite as tight at slow speeds for 1st gear sillyness that seems to result in it never 'pushing' the car into understeer in faster corners on track. I therefore prefer the way the car drives in comparison to car with a tighter diff, however it wouldn't be as useful in an autocross type scenario. BGH E8 type 9 gearbox. Ratios and price listed in the following link, this is the strongest and most expensive 'box BGP supply ( http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/5_speed.html ). The ratios suit the engine very well with a usefully long first and 5th geared to a theoretical max of about 140mph. (Ratios are 2.66/1.75/1.26/1.00/0.86) Chassis Standard Aerorace chassis with associated extra bracing in comparison to same era road chassis, this car does not have lowered floors. Protech single adjustable shocks valved and setup by Procomp in Birmingham along with a full geometry setup, car runs with a reasonable amount of negative camber and some toe out at the front which gives a pretty sharp turn it, understeer isn't really something it understands! Anti roll bars are fitted to the front and rear 13 inch Compomotive CXR wheels in black with nearly new medium compound Toyo R888R in 205/50/13. Rallydesign Quickrack and sort steering arms fitted. Unlike some of the so called 'quickrack' setups I've seen this gives a real two turns lock to lock with the arches almost touching the tub on both sides on full lock, ie it's a genuine quick rack, not the version Westfield sell which is far from it and gives a terrible turning circle. Westfield alloy uprights both front and rear. Westfield widetrack front wishbones. Rapfix quick release steering boss has been fitted with a momo suede Mod.26 wheel Braking is a full AP racing setup including master cylinder and front and rear callipers. Fitted with Ferodo DS2500 pads and a brake bias adjuster. The car (in my opinion) drives beautifully, it's pointy, intuitive and hugely predictable but the setup is still relatively soft which means it's eminently useable as a road car with sensible ground clearance and great compliance while still being blisteringly quick on track. Other Bits Track prepared 13 inch ProRace 1.2 wheels in black with nearly new medium compound Toyo R888R in FRONT 185/50/13 REAR 205/50/13. Floor mounted Westfield padded race seats with 4 point Westfield harness for passenger and in date FIA 6 point harness for driver. Dash2Pro instrument with suede three spoke steering wheel and carpeted interior. FIA approved Caged Roll Cage with homologation sticker. New plumbed in Lifeline2020 fire extinguisher system. Lifeline FIA rain light which is wired to additionally act as fog light for MOT purposes. FIA approved battery cut off switch (which doubles up as a good security addition. It's got a great spec and, much more importantly, it's been really carefully built by someone who knew what they were doing and had both the time and cash available to do the job properly. I don't have to sell it and know that replacing it with a car of the same standard will be difficult. Thanks for reading,, Nick

  9. Thank you chaps. Assurances received, and accepted with gratitude. I've edited my post to note this fact but have left it otherwise intact. My reaction very much matched that GIF Scott posted. I did look more than once to make sure....and there it was(n't) until after Stuart had posted.

  10. A thought - there was a minor forum software update going on yesterday (you might have seen the banner notice). If it was happening while you were posting or had just posted, it might have got caught up during the process. It’s happened before. (On a separate note, when the Moderation Team does moderate something by hiding it, it’s procedure to notify the poster as to why it’s happened. Generally speaking, 99.9% of moderated (hidden) posts are outside spam. Any posts that are by known members that might be considered contentious are almost always discussed backstage before any action to hide is taken. It’s extremely rare that a post is hidden first before discussion - it has to be something blatantly and clearly offensive, damaging or libellous.) I do get it though and I’ve been there. You type something and then later it’s not there and you’re going…

  13. I can assure you that no moderation took place. If it had, I’d see the evidence as posts are never deleted by the mods, only hidden from public view. Must have been a blip somewhere.

  18. We had to do a bit of weather dodging this morning with isolated showers in various places, luckily we avoided most of it! Ash and I met up at the usual A38/A50 services at 9am. As had been busy with upgrades since we met yesterday, now sporting carbon flared sides! A few miles up the A38, we dropped into the Shell garage on the A6 to collect Steve. No time for a photo though, as James had landed at our third meeting point in Wirksworth having driven all the way from Grantham. A quick meet and greet with James in Wirksworth and we were off picking up one of my favourite roads, the B5056 from Grangemill for a spirited blat down the twisties... we then peeled off through Youlgreave to cut cross country. The roads were really quiet, giving us chance to stretch the legs of the XE, Zetec, Xflow and S2000! Landing at Monyash just after 10, we found Glynn already there casually sporting a mug of tea 😂 With us all needing to be back at a reasonable time, we had a good chat about all things cars, polished off a hearty breakfast and then made plans for heading home. We decided on a 5 car convoy across to Cromford (to avoid the roadworks chaos of Matlock) where Ash and I headed south through Wirksworth while Glynn, Steve and James headed East down past Ambergate. Another cracking day out with great mates and amazing cars 👌

  19. Apologies for this but it really is a nice competition car. Well known and important Caterham Blackbird DeDion. Built by Kenrick motors specifically for hillclimbing. Chassis prepared by Caterham for the Blackbird engine. Car nicely put together by this highly respected team and a very successful car and still extremely competitive. The car is in super condition and any inspection is welcome. Starts on the button and is easy to run. Viewing Cheshire £18500
