Hi I'm Paul, Last year I got myself a complete megabusa kit and I've spent the last 12 months building and she is now nearing completion. That being said I have a few questions for the community but I'll get to those 😂😂 very nice to be part of wscc 👍🏻3 points

Apologies for this but it really is a nice competition car. Well known and important Caterham Blackbird DeDion. Built by Kenrick motors specifically for hillclimbing. Chassis prepared by Caterham for the Blackbird engine. Car nicely put together by this highly respected team and a very successful car and still extremely competitive. The car is in super condition and any inspection is welcome. Starts on the button and is easy to run. Viewing Cheshire £185003 points

You're possibly getting confused as some greedy folk in Warrington have two 😉 S4000 indeed!2 points

If you wish to fine tune or improve upon your current engine’s “map” then yes. almost certainly as it’s a very common ECU Depends on your own skillset - but because it comes with a duratec loom then this is by far the easiest option available - virtually “plug and play”2 points

Andy had to convert the Alpha ecu's wiring loom to suit the Omex, you actually do have the matching Omex loom here, so it would be significantly easier to swap ecu's.2 points

Pretty good, but not a patch on "Agent Picolax" which even now still has me laughing like a crazy person...2 points

Sorry for the shortish notice, I've been trying to get in contact with a different pub, but to no avail, so this month we'll meet up again at the Darrington Hotel, Darrington, Pontefract, WF8 3BL at 10am. Afterwards, maybe a run over to the NY500 at Pickering.1 point

Hi Alec, As @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO and @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman have said, i needed to move away from Weber Alpha ECU as i was fitting Kent cams. Weber Alpha is difficult (probably now near impossible) to find somewhere to map your car. Weber Alpha need a dongle to connect to laptop/PC, most of which are broken and can't be sourced. As Dave said, i re-pinned the Weber Alpha loom, but as this comes with loom, sensors and ECU it would electrically be a plug and play. My choice to retain the Weber Alpha loom was so i didn't need to pull the engine out to fit - sol the challenge was the electrical pin out from Weber Alpha to Omex. Which even i as a mechanical engineer managed - albeit with @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman checking my install before powering everything up. Worked first time! Andy1 point

Brilliant thanks. I’m not sure how the streamliners will fare on the jumps and obstacles we have here. It was one of the reasons I’ve opted for moped wheels rather than skinnier bike wheels. I wanted something more robust that wouldn’t fold under at the first obstacle. It’s a compromise as I’ll be trading an increase in rolling resistance but hopefully it’ll mean I’ll make it to the finish. I’ve also tried to base my build so it’ll fit the regulations for different events. There’s no common set of design regulations so I’ve downloaded several and attempted a fit all. For the Colchester race the maximum width is 1.5m and a weight of 100kg, but I’ve designed for 1m and under 75kg as this is what some of the smaller events require.1 point

@Greenstreak-Andy D upgraded his Durabang to a Omex 600 succesfully and he's not electrically biased(hammers are his favorite / only tool). Your work will be easier than Andy's as he had to recrimp the old wiring loom to his new ECU. The item above comes with a loom for your engine, so will be much easier to change over. There's plenty of Omex mappers.1 point

With the helmet in for perspective I'd say that would also take a steering wheel at the same time. Thanks for the help 👍1 point

I don't know if you have seen this but it is an interesting read from the GT40 forum. https://www.gt40s.com/threads/gravity-racer-part-iv.55915/ The guy has been running a gravity racer for a few years, Your racer is definitely classic European looks and better in my eyes, whereas our man over the pond has gone down the streamliner route.1 point

Have to be honest, just read it and didn't find in the least bit funny. I guess everyone's sense of humour really is different.1 point

I'm not brave enough to go that far yet Barry... I'm keeping my journeys short at the moment until I'm more confident in my building skills! I've still got a few small teething problems to iron out.1 point
