  2. Fun little meet up this morning at the Curburgring! Despite everyone doubting my weather forecasting skills on the chat group this morning, it stayed dry for the whole 2 hours 😎 John and Ash both came along in their tintops, not wanting to risk the weather... then Nick and Kayla landed in their red Westfield! Michael of Burton Car Club then arrived having been to the Pirelli Performance meet in Burton where he had been looking at exotica like F40's and Pagani Huayra's.... I might have to get to one of these meets! While we were all chatting I spotted another Westfield pulling in. Realising it was a new WSCC member I'd been chatting to online, I made a beeline to introduce myself. Lee (and son in law Tom) had bought their Westfield Megablade last year from another member, and friend of min, Steve. Its a lovely BRG car that Lee and Tom had been working on, upgrading and personalising over the winter months. This was their first ever WSCC meet! Welcome gents, hope you enjoyed the day 👍 We all had a wander down the paddock to find it absolutely rammed with Academy cars, mostly '23 plate cars fresh for the new season. Despite being ancient I quite like a bit of YouTube and it was great to see the Overdrive guys there. Callum has entered the 2023 season of the Academy (having recently built the car in 24hours for their channel). I must admit to getting a bit starstruck when walking past us was no other than racing driver Scott Mansell (YouTube channel Driver 61) who is the lap record holder round Donington! See you all on the next one 👍

  3. Thank you @Baz456 - Norfolk AOfor organising today. Hopefully your efforts will lead to a successful and active Norfolk/Suffolk group. I’ll leave it up to you to post photos but once again - thanks. 😁

  4. Some great progress today. I’ve got all the main machining done to create the shape, plus four straps and their anchor points. Pretty pleased with it I must confess. The sewing is a bit rough in places but actually it all looks fine. I will cut a rear window in as the proper ones have, and add angled straps as well. Then some finishing edging to make it look a bit more professional. I may also add easy access zips as it is a bit tricky getting in as it is. I took it out for a run this afternoon and it’s great! It might be my imagination but it seems to help the aerodynamics a bit so it feels a bit quicker accelerating above sixty odd. It felt very solid though, the roof bars really help, as does the single hoop which I’ve used; this adds height and tensions the hood really well so there is no flapping at all.

  5. I did send two separate emails on this to anyone in the Speed Series whose club membership would run out mid-season. I explained that Speed Series competitors had to be a club member for the entire season, which was also explained at point of signing up. The invoice, which is labelled “WSCC Membership Extension To 30/11”, will extend your club membership until end of November and in future, your membership renewal date will be end of November as well. (It currently runs out on 28 May.) This just simplifies things for Speed Series competitors and ensures your eligibility to compete and score championship points. I suggest you check the inbox of your club registered email address, as well as your spam filter just in case it got a bit aggressive. Thanks in advance for your help and good luck this season! 😊👍

  7. @fatblokestu A couple of other things that will help (consistent thread tension) is your needle needs changing (it's blunt), and running the thread through the guide above the needle. As the thread goes through the material it needs to run vertical down the flute in the needle to allow to the optimal loop to form at the scarf, allowing the hook to pass through the loop without issues. 😉

  9. On Sat 1st April and Sun 2nd April the Speed Series will be at the Anglesey Circuit sprinting on a different layout on Sat & Sun.. There will be about 20 of our drivers giving it the beans. There is a big paddock and spectators are welcome. There is plenty of space to camp/use camper vans as well as a cafe/bar. Spectating is good and the scenery next to the sea is nice. Hope to see some of you there. Anyone interested in sprinting, hillclimbing or the speed series who need to know what to do will find meeting up with the Westfield drivers very useful

  16. Thanks Brad. Actually the needle snapped last night so has just been changed which is a lucky coincidence! Thanks also for the threading advice, I’ll get that sorted 👍. I’m learning all the time.

  17. ☔️ **Further update on tomorrow’s meet** ☔️ Despite all the positive thinking the latest weather forecast is heavy rain all night until the late morning I fully understand not everyone wants to get their car out in that, or may not be prepped with a roof etc. A few of us were still going to pop over for a breakfast at the cafe at 10 am as planned just for a catch up etc. Either in tin tops or maybe still the cars, but a decision will have to be made in the morning last minute! Just to confirm there will be no pre breaky ride out. We will rearrange another first official meet for Sunday 9th April once this forecast cold/wet snap has passed. (Details to follow) Ben
