  3. You should know by now the double digits, can only ever be a reference to the temperature setting on her heated cake shovel mitts 😉

  4. I have just spent today ringing up various people from HMRC, Green Flag and LV insurance after having stood for over half an hour to pick up a prescription from Boots. All of these are unrelated but what binds them all is that they do not have staff to easily speak with. You spend ages being pointed to a website which does not work or a chat bot which is a moron. When you get back on the phone they tell you how important my call is then do not answer it for 15 or 20 minutes and then to add insult they do not know the answers and have to pass you around. When did we accept that we as customers have no right to expect customer service to actually serve us. Whoever invented automated phone systems should hang their heads in shame as it is the root of all evil. One company who gets it right is Amazon and people then wonder why they are so successful. Rant over

  9. Well after a spur of the moment decision 🙄 a last minute road tax and road test in the rain and dark on Saturday , Sunday morning saw us at McDonald’s for 10:20 , and wow we start the Westfield year again !!! Thanks to @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative and Glen for leading us through the Peaks on another mystery tour ( there all mystery tours for us 🤣) it was a successful first run out as nothing fell off or leaked out , Becky kept thinking there were strange noises coming from the back of the car!! but I told her it was @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman supercharger whistling at us , here’s to another great year of being out with friends in our wonderful cars .Take care and see you soon Andy & Becky

  12. Meeting at a sunny McDonalds were 8 Westfield's, 2 of which were on their first run of the year and I am pleased to report that the day went without mishap, what wonderfully reliable sports cars we have. Refreshments in McD's to start the day off In McD's car park The Sorner's are coming out of hibernation, yeeeeaaaasss Andy and Becky, what a lovely surprise after I was told you couldn't come. Bottoms up Rob The Cover Girls, good things happen when we get together! We weren't in a rush to get anywhere today so we had lingered at McD's giving everyone time to have a good chat about their cars, it's a good job we did as we had a late comer. It was lovely to see Alex back out after a 6 month lie in, he turned up bang on 11am but denied that he thought the clocks had gone forward this weekend, yeah right. With dry roads, the sun shining and higher temperatures than we are used to, I decided we could get the 'Square Route of Buxton' done and if we push on a bit we could get down to Hulme End where there would be no Mother's Day busyness. As soon as we left Buxton we were getting ROAD CLOSED signs, saying it was at the railway bridge. I don't know the roads that well but I know that we don't go under a bridge, because when we do my ears tell me and the clutch has to go down for a little engine rev, so we soldiered on. The 'closed' road was amazingly quiet and the closed section was 10 miles away just after where we turn off, great stuff! After a great drive we arrived at Hulme End for lunch, here we are. We had the essential sugary stuff, blimey we needed it, my arms knew about all those bends, the cycling and swimming I do is all worth it, I don't have the muscles that you guys have. My cake had been nibbled at though hadn't it Glen? the jammy bit as well, it was fresh and homemade, yummy. I have missed coming to this cafe. We have an Andy with us and he didn't disappoint, tucking into cake without competition from @AndrewBClarke and @Andy Westwood Parked at Humle End Another joyous day out with the Westfield Sports Car Club, fantastic, what great people you all are. Thank you for coming everyone, I hope you have enjoyed it too x

  14. Hi all, potential new member here, looking to purchase my first Westy with a couple of friends as our first foray into a track car that’s also road legal for a weekend trip out. We’re all based around Preston, so looking to meet up with some like minded Westy fans to fine tune our requirements and pick up some useful advice. Research is suggesting a zetec power unit, the rest is up for discussion. Will be reading up on FAQs and soaking up all your useful info on here. Cheers.

  15. I know regardless of the age no one should ever endure this but at that sort of age just seems so much worse. Hope the improvements continue for him and his family. Puts life into perspective at times. We're all culprits for this, myself included.....but when I think I'm having a bad day it's nothing really!

  17. Hi @Alex Gaskin, Glad to hear your friend is on the mend, despite the latest setback. Sounds like he has a great bunch of friends around him! Out of curiosity how old is he? There always seems to be something nowadays. Lily seems to be also doing well. After having a good chat with her Dad the other day (only over a work's Teams call) he was saying that she still has to go for check ups every 3 months which involves scans on the brain and there is still a 'dark' area on the brain but they've been told that the specialist isn't overly worried about it as this is damage caused by the treatment so should heal over time and tests done every 2 months to check her liver is functioning correctly. Her Dad (Paul) has said that the chemo has damaged the ovaries which she had an operation about 2 years ago to have part of them frozen to try and assist with fertility at a later date. However it seems the chemo has started an early menopause? Despite all this Paul says she still gets up every morning to get herself to school or down to the stables to look after her horse and never seems to moan..... Life can be cruel at times but she seems the sort of person that just amazes me and makes me understand how bl**** lucky I am! For the record we raised approx £4650 in total. We were very disappointed with the company we work for as they said they would fund match but didn't pay a penny - the joys of an American penny pinching investment company. As I've said before, a massive thanks to all involved.

  18. An early start this morning, arriving at the services to fond I was (cue a Welsh accent!) "the only Westfield in the village"! I consulted our chat group and realised everyone had decided to have a lie in! I headed north for the secondary meeting spot at Duffield to find Steve and Tim waiting. After a chat with local guy in his series 1 Elise, we headed to Matlock up our normal B road route which was fairly traffic free so progress was brisk 😎 What a great turnout!

  20. Nothing like firing up the westy after it’s been hidden in the garage for a few years!! Just a damp vdo speedometer i think (digits all flashing and corrupted so it’s in the airing cupboard) and was firing on 3 until I unplugged and plugged in all the spark plug leads. Does any one else have a Zetec 1800 where sparks 3,4,5 are all flat with the head and properly seated but spark 1 just doesn’t seem to click and seat flat like the others? Same with 2 HT leads. Odd… Next step MOT…

  23. A very cold morning at Donington to watch the 750MC pre-season test/track day. We were glad of a hot cuppa or two at Garage 39! Loads of Locosts on track, amazing how quick they are with the little 1.3 crossflows screaming away, all about big corner speeds (and big cahoonas 😂). Some other interesting race cars also in attendance... A nice surprise was seeing the MK Sportscar guys with RLM testing a load of the new Cup 200's for the upcoming season. We took the opportunity to have good look round the cars, MK have definitely taken a big step forward on fit and finish despite the Cup 200 being for track only. They also seem very well sorted, planted through the bends and very quick on the straights 👍
