Received this update by email from Westfield-Chesil yesterday: Westfield Chesil Ltd is delighted to be able to update you on restarting production of the Westfield range of sports cars, as well as the opening of the parts shop! It has been a busy winter at our new home in Bicester as we completed the move of the parts and equipment to continue production and development. Whilst the physical move has been going on our Parts Team have been working with suppliers to set up the necessary stocks so we can build cars and supply spares in volume from April 2023. 2023 SDV Kits As before the SDV kit will be available in 2 modules, Starter and Completion. The first sends you all the bits you will need to get your donor components into a Westfield. The second is everything else you will need to be ready for the road. We will be taking orders for SDV’s from April 1st with customer deliveries starting on 1st July. 2023 ZETEC Kits Westfield has always been the market leading complete vehicle kit. And in its 32nd year we will have 32 Final Edition Zetec Kits available for sale. Available either as a complete kit, or 3 modules to spread cost and space required during the build. Don’t forget that everything required to build your own sports car even down to the Liqui- Moly fluids is supplied. We will be taking orders for ZETEC’s from April 1st with customer deliveries starting on 1st July Website, Parts Shop and Parts Hotline Whilst we have been moving the business to Bicester our parts team have been busy putting in place a modern stock control and ordering systems for the parts department. For the moment we will move online with telephone help available through Jason Ball, a long serving member of the original Retail Parts business. The Website is due for launch in early April. Westfield XI Kits Since buying the business we have had a lot of input from the XI chapter of the Westfield Sports Car Club. Between us we have come up with a 44-point plan to improve the kit, making it more straightforward to build, easier to get through IVA and make improvements to some of the components. We intend to supply 24 kits in 2024. You can confirm details about the car and place a fully refundable deposit to secure your build slot by speaking to Simeon on 01869 221154 Social Media and Website We will keep Facebook and Instagram up to date with both development information and details about how to book a production slot. The Website will be live this month and you can follow us through the links below to keep up to date. @AndrewBClarke Sorry I missed you when I left, the weather front was coming fast and the chap blocking me in moved so we did a bit of a dash after I couldn't see you both. We raced the rain home, and nearly made it, although driving faster seems to keep you drier! 😂😂. Oliver even slept most of the way home! Lovely to meet you all, I look forward to our next meeting!5 points

We are happy to announce that Toybox Specialist Cars have joined the club as Traders! Almost all of us are familiar with Toybox, who have been selling Westfields for many years now, but that's not all that they're about. They have an announcement to make on that front, which you'll see in here soon. In the meantime, please join us in welcoming Toybox into the WSCC fold!1 point

Pleased you made it and to meet at last!! I’ve only just got home at 5.30 so well and truly got wet. Still that’s what makes England a Green and pleasant land. Hopefully see you again soon.1 point

Nothing like firing up the westy after it’s been hidden in the garage for a few years!! Just a damp vdo speedometer i think (digits all flashing and corrupted so it’s in the airing cupboard) and was firing on 3 until I unplugged and plugged in all the spark plug leads. Does any one else have a Zetec 1800 where sparks 3,4,5 are all flat with the head and properly seated but spark 1 just doesn’t seem to click and seat flat like the others? Same with 2 HT leads. Odd… Next step MOT…1 point

I'll be doing a pre-meet and convoy up tomorrow morning. For us "southerners" we will meet at the A38/A50 services (DE65 6DX) at 9am for a 915am departure and convoy up through Wirksworth. Feel free to tag along if you are coming that way 👍 I've posted the meet on the WSCC Social and WSCC Derby Notts pages too.1 point

Weather is forecast to be great, double figure temperatures even, soooo looking forward to riding the wind 😍 and seeing everyone again. I talk as though we haven’t been out for ages and it’s only been a few weeks……but it feels like months, must have got snow on my brain last week 😂1 point

Hopefully I'll be along, assuming I finish the solar panels and leisure batteries installation on SWMBO's new horsebox today.... spent most of last Sunday on it, hopefully just a few connections and a tidy up today (if it works when I plug it all in that is 😂🤦♂️).1 point

I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 MX5 2 litre, 2 owners FSH, 80k miles, 5 speed, 16" wheels, not too rusty, really too good for track days but so much better than the other rot boxes I looked at. I went to my local garage yesterday, the only thing Pete found was a binding rear brake due to the pads sticking. Tyres and brake pads are good. I've booked it in with him to change all the fluids (engine, gearbox, rear axle, brake, coolant) check the tappets and change the plugs. He'll also change the thermostat as it's running cool, a tyre shop is nearby and they'll laser align it. What brake fluid should be used? I'm thinking of Super DOT4 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393420613270?fits=Car+Make%3AFord&epid=1623285096&hash=item5b99b22696:g:WOMAAOSwbGlg3dR2&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4F9R8WBP64UOLecW%2B2iZWTSZSPXkkKrlyhtp68K2A4Wu%2B6JgzPc8tAaxBygXsYpOSpyE7lM6G34AiiL8hQ3%2F5qTzU0PVf%2B7Rr%2Fu37aeyNDhT56WI%2B5ye9Dh1cGedk6b1ZuIXtevn0KZteVF3xqZXV%2FKctE2FEp0F785pehZTKE98LaEIivVCvwK%2FZthXW6ygD1KRxHmpGEXdGRNzChMGYn2wSV5OHywOcgdv4XOjq6NqvU%2BXTLfJrEhNhKHszxNh9t%2BqMbN6qvBEh3KzP8M6%2FXCN0bpzewKbFIuGiWNG5RWC|tkp%3ABk9SR4Komt7YYQ The clutch will soon need changing. Will the standard Mazda one be OK or should we fit a racing one?1 point

I'm currently grafting away on the Sizewell B refueling outage, 12 hour days 6 on 1 off, so with my day off being today I seized the opportunity to get some admin done. The list of "To Do's" was as follows. WSCC renewal - tick, and I'm still in no pain when it comes to paying the annual membership of this fine club. Diving Club renewal - tick, smarts a bit but I get value for money over the year. Talk to the boss about follow on work - tick, I got a less than definitive outlook but it looks like I won't starve this year. Oh it's all going so well...... Renew insurance on the ASBO, it was with Flux but I looked about to see if they could be beaten, that's when the headaches started, the agent from Lancaster insurance told me I'd had a non fault claim, "back in 2019 sir, so if you change your answer to yes for that question sir that will keep us right with disclosure sir" I was certain that I hadn't claimed and wasn't prepared to lie about it just to get a quote, so I went on a mahoosive mission to find out what manner of clerical error was going to cost me more money, and even more so might invalidate the tin top insurance because I said no to any claims in the last five years for that policy. After much gnashing of teeth and threats of FOI requests to all my previous insurers the nice man from Flux said "yeah I can see that claim sir, it was when you had the tin top insured with us sir, it was a windscreen claim sir and nothing to worry about sir, it doesn't affect anything sir" I replied with "oh yeah I remember that, I had forgotten about it but now I remember it, is that going to bite me in the rear if I bend the tin top?" No sir like I said it makes no difference" I asked why Lancaster were classing that as a non fault claim rather than a windscreen claim, his reply is not repeatable on here but he did explain to me how it might have come about, the lesson learned today being that some of the lesser brokers don't have and cannot access the full information on some data base thing he called Q, and as a result can cause bouts of elevated premiums, elevated blood pressure and splintered tooth enamel. Anyway ASBO insurance is renewed with Flux and now I'm going to the fridge to get a very cold one and watch a movie or two before bedtime ! Nem........1 point
